CHAPTER 9

THE PERSONAL ASSISTANT

The banging on the door intensified and the doorbell kept being rung. The person at the door wasn't giving up any time soon, I noted. I lazily woke up and sat on my bed, before turning to look at the time on my bedside clock. 'Who bangs on someone's door at five thirty in the morning?' I grumbled as I threw my blanket away and stepped away from the bed. I wondered why my mother hadn't gotten the door yet, because she is a much lighter sleeper than me.

I descended the stairs and peeped through the small hole on the door. I could see blonde hair, neatly put in a bun. Cindy had blonde hair but I was sure it wasn't her, because for one, Cindy can never manage to put her hair in a perfect bun and two, she would have called me instead of banging on the door. I was brought back to reality when the person rang the doorbell. 'Ouch! That hurt my ear. Whoever is on the other side better have a good reason for waking me up this early.' I snapped as I opened the door.

I was met with a young lady, about my age who had a very bright smile. Who smiles like that, this early in the morning? I wondered with a frown. She had on a pink suit, with pearl earrings to go with. I looked down at her hand, to find it outstretched waiting for me to shake it. I nervously took her hand and gave it a brief squeeze before letting go.

"Good morning, Ms Carson. I am so sorry for coming this early and disturbing your sleep," She replied, giving me a shy smile, "But I had direct orders from Mr McCaffrey not to get in the way of your classes today, so I had no choice but to come this early before you started your day. My name is Andelyne Salvatore, your new personal assistant," I rolled my eyes when she finished talking. "Which McCaffrey sent you, if I may ask?" I asked, as I ushered her into the house. "The son, Ma'am," She replied as I put the pillows into place, before offering her a seat.

"I should have known. Please don't call me ma'am because I am not the one paying you and we are about the same age. My name is Isabella. Leave the name Carson to my parents," I said, chuckling. Andelyne briefly laughed before removing a notebook from her purse. "Ok then, Isabella. I don't want to stay for long. Can I please see your schedule?" She asked, taking a pen and started to scribble on her notebook.

"I have classes starting from eight in the morning and the last class for the day ends at three except on Tuesday, where I only have one class at ten a.m to one p.m. That's it. If you don't mind me asking, why do you have to create another schedule for me?" I asked curiously because I didn't know what Sean had planned for me.

Andelyne gave me a soft smile after she finished scribbling my schedule on her notebook. "You will have a tight schedule from now onwards. Your engagement party is to be held next week, so we have a lot that we need to do before then. Your morning routine will also change. You need to be healthy and strong, meaning you will have to workout," I looked at my body and then at her as she continued talking. My body was just fine, I thought to myself. I didn't have the model-worth type of body but I was okay. A manageable chest size, a flat tummy, average thick thighs and a firm butt, I was just fine, "You need to go to the spa, meet designers for your engagement party dress and afterwards, your wedding gown. You will have to face the media at a point, being the girlfriend of a billionaire, will snatch away some of the privacy that you had before. They will want to interview you, so you need to be prepared if that happens," She took a deep breath after saying all that in one breath.

"My work today was only to introduce myself and get your schedule. Mr McCaffrey informed me that you will go to pick up your engagement ring today. I am so sorry for losing the one you had. I am pretty sure it was spectacular," She finished, with a frown on her face, "What are.." It then hit me that Sean had not told Andelyne that this was all arranged. He had obviously made up a story, explaining why I didn't have his ring. "It was indeed spectacular. I feel so bad for losing it. Sean had really put a lot of effort in finding such a beautiful ring," I finished with a sympathetic look.

Andelyne stood up and put her book back in her purse, "I will be going for now. I might come back with your makeup artist and designer, to introduce you to them and so that they can take your measurements. Mr McCaffrey said that you need a closet makeover."

"Sean said what?" I asked her when she made a move towards the door, "You know what, never mind what he said, I am okay with what I have, don't stress yourself out with these things. I will talk to Sean. I don't need a makeover," I smiled pitifully at Andelyne because I could see the conflict in her eyes, whether to follow Sean orders or my orders.

"Alright, I will tell Mr McCaffrey when I meet him later in the day to show him the report. You can contact me at any time if you have any questions or want to do something. Here is my number," She said giving me a piece of paper, where she had scribbled down her number, "Have a nice day Isabella. It was a pleasure to finally meet the woman who managed to tame Mr McCaffrey," She said with a wide grin, shaking my hand.

"It was nice to meet you too," I replied, smiling at her. I watched as she walked down the lawn and entered her car. I closed the door and ascended the stairs to my room, to start preparing myself for school since it was already six a.m. I better have a good explanation as to why I have an engagement party next week, before I meet up with Cindy and Nate. I was definitely not looking forward to seeing them today.
