My name is Alex, I'm a freshman at Peoria high-school and this is my story.
I was walking down the halls of Peoria High-school when I noticed a flyer. We don't usually have flyers since the internet is usually the most popular thing used for promoting things such as sports and other topics, so a bright flyer just randomly placed on the basic, white school walls obviously became noticeable. So I took the flyer without giving it a second look and put it in my bag hoping I wouldn't forget about it later.

"Wake up. WAKE UP!" I heard yelling from a familiar voice. Still was quite confused starting to open my eyes as if I was in my own room.
"Dude, wake up, the bell rang already come on." The familiar voice said, starting to become more clear.
"Ughh..shut up will you, I was trying to sleep." I struggled to move out of the comfort of my own arms as I realized it was my best friend Vivian who was talking to me.
"I would but if I shut up you would just fall right back to sleep you idiot. Come on, the teacher is about to lock the door on us." Vivian said, picking my bag up as I finally got out of my seat to process what was going on.
A piece of paper flew out of my bag just as Vivian realized that she forgot to zip it up before she picked it up, and before I got to get my hands on the paper, she picked it up and out of curiosity she uncrumbled it to see a Peoria Dragons basketball tryouts flyer.
"Yo, what's this?" She said as she examined the green and black flyer. "Basketball..? I never knew you were interested in trying out, Alex."
I looked at her confused and then realized that was the flyer I took off of the wall in the halls earlier. "No, not really. I just found it in the hallway, I was curious. Not anymore though."
She looked at me with a raised eyebrow, "What do you mean not really?! This could be your chance to finally find a sport you might like!"
I snatched the flyer from her and put it back in my bag once again, zipping it up this time to keep from unruly hands digging in the void that is my school bag.
"Come on, you're acting like I want to be involved in a sport." I rolled my eyes and took my bag back from her. "We both know that isn't true."
Vivian rolled her eyes at me, seemingly disappointed that I've changed none since middle school. "I'm just saying, it might be better to become involved instead of just sitting at home playing video games."
We slowly started to drift our own ways as we started to exit the school building.
I sighed. "Whatever Viv! See you tomorrow!" Then, started to walk home.

As I was arriving home, I noticed a group of six guys about my age or older playing basketball. I started to think that Vivian might be kind of right about being more involved so I decided to run inside, drop my stuff, change into some comfortable clothes, and quickly put my converses on. I walked out the door without a second thought and then started to head towards the guys I spotted earlier.
"Hey, is it okay if I play next?" I asked as politely as I could.
"Yeah, you can replace Leon after this." One of the older guys replied, still very focused on the game going on.
I looked at them confused not knowing who this "Leon" person was but just thought I could figure it out later then stood aside patiently and quietly waiting for them to finish their game of six. . .
