THE HANGOUT.

Chapter One

Gabriella's POV.

"Hello, Let's meet at your apartment, it's very important. K, uhm I guess I'll see you in '30', yeah thanks" She hangs up

I was so worried, as to what his reaction could be. Nonetheless, I had made up my mind to tell him and face whatever aftermath effect I got.

I rushed down the stairs, so I could run along and meet up with time. I told mum that I was hanging out with my friends today for a picnic and asked her to help plead to dad on my behalf. She didn't do as I had said, and I guess I mightn't be going, I hope not anyway. Mum and Dad were setting something up on the kitchen counter.

"Oh, you ladies and the time you take gettin' ready! so annoying, unbearable most times" Dad exclaimed

"Tell me bout' it, speakin' bout' Gaby, what would you say bout' Tory, huh" Mum related

"Oh, piss-off, a topic for another day, Not soon I hope. Besides, where is Gaby going?" Dad swiftly swept it away

"Oh darling, I almost forgot to tell you. Hope you won't be upset. And of course, don't be a fun-killer or a kill-joy..." Mum said apologetically and also pleading

"I'm ready mum!" I said acting like I knew nothing about it

"Come closer baby, let me see you. Oh, my sweetheart, you look like a Princess on her way to save her kingdom from the ruthless grip of a handsome tyrant whom she later falls in love with and marries on a red boat. Oh!" Mum said dreamingly like it was her dream guy, and she was in love or would dump dad for the person in question if he were to be present

"Oh mum, so dramatic, stop it, you're bluffing and I know," I said gettin' pissed off and uninterested, for what I was about to go for and do was far more important

" No sweetheart I'm not, and of course, you and your father must know you're very pretty right hunny?" Mum backed up, tryna sway me

"Yeah, yeah course she is, but where the hell is she goin'? I mean I'm lost here, what's up with all this?" Dad inquired with a sheer grin and was as serious as a high school chemistry teacher

"Oh mum, I thought you told him, I'm dressed and the girls will be here any minute" I yelled with discontent. I wanted to leave at all cost

"That won't be a problem baby girl, 'cause your father here won't disagree under my watch, unless he wants to make a spicy trade, huh?" Mum reassured acting like a sexy pole dancer as she put her leg on dad and pulled his collar to her and she looked intently at him

"Uhh! darling, spicy, but first of all, Where are you going Gaby?"Dad flirted back but refused to get carried away or be bought

"For starters, eww! don't flirt with each other like that before me! Next, I'm having a picnic over at Teesha's house and we're gonna be making crafts, I'm gonna be baking, Teesha will be making bracelets and basically, we all be makin' stuff we can, and later we're gonna get ice cream and play VR at the gamin' shop downtown. So please dad, c'mon, I hope you're not gonna be a party pooper as usual" I rapidly stated with puppy dog eyes

"As usual? Ok, okay, to prove that I'm not a party–pooper, fine, you can go, but when're you comin' back?" Dad tried to pretend like he was cool with it and struggled to say those words because I knew him far too well

"Ugh!, Dad, I knew you would ask and I'll be here by 5 sharp I promise, please, fine ok, bye," I said without even lettin' him give his consent

"Okay that's cool, but you said you are going to Teesha's right?" Dad asked again, and I could feel some conditions rising

"Yes, Dad, why?" I asked inquisitively for I darn needed to know

"I'm going to need her mother's number or her father's number or at least her address or maybe I could drop you off," Dad said being overprotective and that was something I could never fully get used to

"Typical Dad! Mum, can you believe this? can you believe your husband right now? being so protective like gonna fall into a sewer or something I've been living in this country and town and on this streets for over 15 years Dad c'mon" I said, gettin' pissed off like I could munch on father

"It doesn't matter, age is just a number if you're not ready to give that to me then sorry darling but you ain't going nowhere!" Dad stamped that, and no goin' back ok it

'Oh fine!" I concurred reluctantly

"Yes sweetheart, I support your dad on that I guess this is what he wants in return but either way it's right to make sure our darling baby is in safe hands and will come back safe to us," Mum said rubbing my face and pinching my cheek while I didn't even care

"Fine, when Teesha gets here Imma give you her mother's number, father's number, or something I don't, I don't know," I said waving my hand around and I was satisfied enough with their pleas

"Better, you better do, else you ain't going nowhere and if I can get it I'm ok with her address. That's more like it so better get prepared get your basket or whatever you gonna use for the Picnic and see you when you get back. Oh! And sweetheart, I'm still open to the other offer, I'm your love am I right? So why can't I have both" Dad said bidding me off already like he had not a problem with it and winking at mum, while she giggled

"You naughty big boy, sure. Anything for you" she kissed him while he grabbed her by the waist and I just looked away

"Sure Dad, what about Tory cause I haven't seen her, or Tony, come to think of it," I asked, looking around and wondering where they could be at this hour, rather early for a young chap like that to be up and doing outside

"Tony and Tory are over at their weekend classes, hello? For about 6 months now, Tory's been taking swimming classes and Tony's been taking karate classes, you made that happen, you couldn't possibly have forgotten or you're not here with us?"Mum asked as she waved her hands in sarcastic motions 'cause couldn't believe I had forgotten

"Oh yeah, but when did they leave, how come I didn't see them" I was serious saying this though

"Oh baby, this seems to be becoming a problem, is this selective amnesia or what?" Mum was gettin' seriously perturbed, as she walked over and examined me, from my temperature to my eyes and down below

"C'mon Gaby, this isn't funny. You served 'em' breakfast this morning remember? when you were reading and laughing over tweets in front of me?"

"Oh yeah, I do now. C'mon Mum and Dad how'd you expect me to even realize that I was serving them food, I was busy, Obviously" I backed up, coming to reality

"Oh really? Busy? remind me to take your phone once you get back to make sure you don't forget some other things like things you learn in college over Twitter" Dad said this and my heart sank, because I knew he could do it, I was just trying to avert the situation

"Dad, I seriously don't think there'll be any need for that, I was just kidding, sheesh! Can't y'all take a minor's joke?"

"Oh, so now you're a minor? Sure better be Gaby, better be else this house is gonna be terrible sometimes" Dad reassured, leaving me with a not-so-serious warning.

"Ugh! Old people, so unbearable sometimes" I muttered beneath my voice, almost enough to be heard

"What did you say?" Dad asked raising an eyebrow

"Nothing, nothing," I said raising my hands as though I was surrendering to clarify myself

"I hope so young lady, it better be," Dad said firmly

There's a honk outside. It's Teesha and the rest.

"Welp, I better get my stuff," I said, ready to scurry on

"Yes, and the number, you Better not forget or you'll be dead meat and roast toast," Dad said reminding me

"Sure, sure. I'll text it to you" I said that with no intention

I run over to my friends in the driveway. Dad gestures to me, reminding me about the number by making a telephone with his hand and putting it on his ear. I nod my head and act like I'm typing the number to Dad already and I raise her thumb in affirmation. Dad smiled and yelled in response

"See you any time soon, hopefully," He expressed so much trust in me

I yelled back "Just check, kk bye till I see you"

"Thanks, dear" Dad surprisingly appreciated me for God knows what! I plainly brush it off though

"Thanks, Mum, love you" I make air kisses and blow em' to her

Dad mutters but I don't hear from outside

"Wow! I grant her permission but she loves you and you alone!"

"I love you too sweetie, take care" She waves back at me

"Oh, someone's gettin' jealous. That won't be necessary sweetheart, cuz you know I love you and she loves you too and my love is enough to go round" mum assures and they start kissing passionately again like Prom King and Prom Queen while doing the waltz.

I heaved "She found her prince charming, I hope I get that same share of luck"

Just then, Dad asks for them to put it on hold. Before I even get in the car, Dad starts looking through his phone vigorously. His eyes widened as he searched for the text keenly. He couldn't get it, then he checked his wife's phone intensely for Teesha's mother's number, assuming as a mother, it'd be a mother-mother thing, but no way. He didn't find it and he hadn't gotten a text from Gabriella. His forehead furrowed. Mum tells him to calm down and that it could be his wi-fi or service but he will hear nothing of it. He paved up and down, left to right soliloquizing for it'd been half an hour already!

Would everything be all right?
