Chapter 20: Practice Makes Perfect, But Don’t Light Yourself on Fire

A couple days had passed with little incident, thankfully, and no sign of the enemy watching her. Admittedly, Gina didn’t go out at all during this time. She was holed up in her apartment, unable to forget the wolf that nearly tore into her right outside of her door. ‘Or worse,’ she thought to herself, wondering what they would do if they wounded and dragged her off.

Dismissing that thought, as Zaros’s pack was guarding her from the shadows, she refocused on these magical lessons. Several books laid open on her living room table as the television flickered in front of her. She was taking a break to watch the news, frowning at the news of several more vanishings. “The authorities are on the lookout for the rapid spike in vanishings,” the news reporter said. “This could be gang activity, but this is an abnormal amount for just that, with no clear pattern to the victims.”
