Chapter Twenty-Eight

ALPHA JOE POV

Well, it looks like the pack is going to need new training gear tomorrow now that it's been torn apart in the rogue attack scenario. I was thankful that we had all stayed together after rescuing Phoebe. Well apart from Cayden and Caspian, the rest of the training group is together, even Jordan stayed behind with us in the end, Cayden didn't even try to get him to go with him and Caspian, both of them too eager to win.

Thinking about the rogue attack scenario it really showed me, well us the benefit of having the pups. Jenni had somehow managed to ensure that the scenario would simulate an actual rogue attack and like always in an attack they pay little attention to pups, due to not expecting them to be able to handle themselves, which gave us all the upper hand when they pitched in, even Scott managed to help out when he whacked the wolf attacking me with a branch, giving me an opportunity to make them submit, my poor pack were definitely not prepared for us to over throw them.

"Chelsea babe what are you doing here?" I'm startled out of my thoughts as Dean engulfs Chelsea in a hug, looks like Alpha Chris has not only let us traipse across his pack lands but also joined in to set up the obstacle course for Jenni, she has done what no other has managed to do in the last ten years and bridge our two packs back together. I hope when I can finally sit down with Chris tomorrow, we can finalise the alliance he suggested last night.

"Oh, you know. I always love to lend a helping hand" Dean narrows his eyes at her and I know that she is in for it tonight just like my Luna.

"You and the Luna" he gripes "you are so-"

"Ah ah ahhhh." She tsks "don't want to lose any of those precious points now do you" she giggles "Welcome everyone to your next task" she waves behind her where six categorised tables are and as soon as I see the category Alpha, I feel awful as there isn't an alpha in each group how are they going to manage to answer the questions? Unless they made them about alphas. After explaining the rules, I go to take the Alpha table automatically but get stopped short when Chelsea steps in front of me.

"Sorry alpha, but you cannot do that category it has already been completed by Cayden and Maths has been completed by Caspian you four will have to decide on who takes what category out of the last four." Glancing at the last four I curse Cayden.

"Guess I am doing the economics" Dean chuckles knowing that I am not great at it. But it only leaves three categories left and I don't know which is best for Harry. Jordan choosing to wait for us to decide.

"Dad I am happy to do either Royal or Outdoor Knowledge. Mind you, Jenni has been teaching all of us pups a lot about the outdoors so perhaps I should do outdoor knowledge" wait, what now? how have I not realised she has been teaching the pups so much.

"You can do whichever you want son" he nods before heading off to the table.

"Jordan any preference?"

"No. none at all Alpha I feel like I am going to let the team down. If I could choose maths I would. Would have smashed it too but I am uncertain about royal knowledge so I might as well go for that one" pointing at the last table.

"Ok Royal Knowledge for me."

"Thanks Alpha" Why on earth did she choose royal knowledge as a category? Or did someone else? Watching the other pups, I am intrigued when Sam, Conner and Lily take the alpha table, Danny I could understand but them.

Getting to my seat I am soon joined by Carl and some other warriors along with Scott, bless him hopefully she hasn't made this too hard and based it on stories she tells them so he can at least answer them. Watching him he turns towards Sam and Conner holding up his pen and I suddenly realise though he has managed on the obstacle course so far with the help of Conner carrying him he cannot write. Mind you he definitely helped me out on the rogue attack, before I can panic in how to solve the problem Chelsea appears beside him.

"Hey little dude, so Jenni said you can have help writing only. So, we are going over there where Carmen can keep check that we don't cheat, and you can tell me the answers." That sorted I turn my head down to my own test sheet and am stunned at the questions.

Well, that is a question and a half no one actually knows the exact date apart from the ones that killed them, there is not set date and even the year they were murdered has been debated over the years, scanning the rest of the questions I wonder how anyone is going to answer them, who remembers the royal anthem? No one has sang it for ten years.

Well, that definitely made me use my brain, if she came up with all those questions then I wonder what were on the other tests. That reminds me I need to check up on how her online learning is going too. Getting up it seems that everyone has finished at the same time.

"Six different drinks, all need to be consumed by your group, you may only drink from one glass." As we go to step forward the pups tell us to stop, and I am startled.

"We don't know what's in them" Sam says exasperatedly, it seems even in an obstacle course, and we are competing against each other the pups are still drawn to each other. Making this one big team rather than the multiple teams there are. "Lily, you have the best nose out of all of us can you tell what is in them?" Lily steps forward.

"Hey Scott, can you smell this one" she asks after sniffing it and handing it to him.

"That is the one Jenni gives us when she needs to stitch us up" we all freeze why the hell did they need stitching up. I hear countless growls around me and realise I am one of them when the pups stare at us, some shaking in fright. Shaking my head, we all manage to get our wolves back under control before muttering a quick apology to them.

"Ok Scotty could you make sure all the blue glasses are the same?" Conner asks crouching down to him and giving him a squeeze "You did good bud. Jenni is going to be so proud of you."

"Yep" he bounces on the spot happy at the praise he has been given before checking on the other glasses as Dean stands frozen to the spot, elbowing him in the side he soon snaps out of whatever was going on in his head and helps Scott.

"So, sedative in this one. Lily what is in the green one?" they work through them slowly and all of us are stunned into silence like we normally are even Carmen is gawking at the pups as they work out what the drinks are, well not fully but they know they all have something in them to cause an ill effect on us.

"Owh, this one has something in it, but it also has a faint tangy smell underneath." Ok that means none of the drinks are safe to drink without having something happen to us.

"Let me?" Sam says he takes a whiff and smiles "antidote to the sedative in this one." That makes no sense at all if you can-

"Drink from one glass?" Darcy asks Carmen.

"That is right sweetie."

"So, all we have to do is make sure whoever is drinking it drinks the antidote after the sedative."

"But you can only drink one" Ken says exasperatedly making the pups chuckle.

"That is where you are wrong" Danny explains "the rules were to drink from one glass and the group had to consume the six different ones, unlike other challenges they didn't say each pack member has to drink a glass each. So, in that case one person can drink all of them by pouring each drink into the first glass they have drunk from."

"Well, that is smart. So, give me the first." Carl says reaching out.

"No, that is stupid" Sofia scolds him and he looks at her confused and in utter shock.

"She is right. It is better for us to do it" Conner gestures to the rest of the pups "We are unsure what the others do exactly, and we don't know what obstacles are ahead of us."

"And we are small so you can all help us through the obstacles."

"Why are the pups cleverer than my son?" Ken asks wistfully staring up at the sky and I hate to agree but Cayden doesn't even compare to them either and he is meant to be taking over the pack. The only common denominator is that they had Jenni as a guardian and would have been taught by her.

"Wish I knew."

"Actually, scratch that. They are cleverer than all of us." I cannot argue with that.

"Dad?"

"Yes Harry?"

"We don't have an antidote. Cayden or Caspian must have drunk it." Great, case and point my son is not as smart as he thinks.

"Ok well I can carry you. Glad you told us, or I may have had to carry that big lug" I nod to Dean who places his hand over his heart in mock hurt whilst everyone laughs.

"Wait a second" Sammy says tapping his finger on his cheek as he rests his thumb under his chin "Six different drinks, all need to be consumed by your group, you may only drink from one glass. I got it she allowed an out in case anyone was selfish. The rules say all drinks need to be consumed by the group but not how much of it."

"Which means we can equally give a little of the antidote into your glass which will hopefully be enough so none of us are infected by the sedative and hopefully the other effects will wear off quickly."

"That is not fair on you all. Our group put-

"Oh, hush Alpha" Lily scolds and I cannot help but roll my eyes mentally she is turning into a mini version of Jenni which to be honest isn't a totally bad thing at all "Ok let's get this done" she says stepping forward with the other pups and picking up the first glass.

Should I mind link Cayden to check on him?

'Dad' he groans through my link, and I cannot help but laugh at the timing.

'Yes son?'

'They poisoned us I cannot see.'

"One of them blinds you" I warn everyone for them all turn to me "Cayden" I simply supply making them chuckle ass I tap my head.

'Well, you should have waited for your team shouldn't of you. I have a feeling we will see you soon.'

'You better have. Something keeps hitting us and it bloody hurts.' Something hitting them? Is it another obstacle or is it where he keeps bumping into things? Who knows but I suppose we will find out soon.
