Chapter Thirty

CASPIAN POV

What the hell did I get myself into? She said this was going to be fun but here I am trying to help Cayden out by shouting directions for him to take as paintball pellets fly at us left, right and centre, this is definitely anything but fun. "Argh" I shout out as I get hit again, I hear the gleeful snickers of the shooters and I let another tangent of curses fly out of my mouth at them, that is until I am hit right below and I cripple to the ground shortly followed by Cayden, now that blow is just below the belt and if I ever get my hands on who done it, I am going to make them pay, it better not of caused any lasting damage. Hitting the river, they suddenly stop shooting at us and I take a breath of relief that is until I realise that we need to swim upriver, fun fucking fantastic.

"This isn't a damn obstacle course this is bloody torture."

"Why? what now?"

"We gotta swim?" a growl, when will this course end.

"Swim where?"

"Upriver, can you swim?"

"Yeah, but I cannot see anything. How am I going to know what direction and where the rocks are?"

"Fuck, you will have to hold onto my legs, and I will swim for both of us." And I thought some of my alpha training was tough. Guiding his hands to my legs we somehow manage to get sorted and I use my arm strength to get us up the river. Finally seeing the marker to get out I pull us out onto the bank, flopping on my back I try to catch my breath as I find myself gazing up at a she-wolf with hazel eyes.

"Hey, welcome to the second to last obstacle. Your team needs to gather up six bags of branches and twigs" she gestures to the bags. How is that an obstacle? Is this some sort of joke?

"She said team, right?" Cayden sighs out, he seems about done with this as much as me.

"Yeah why?" I ask grunting back at Cayden lifting myself up onto my elbows.

"Well, that is one each, we do two of the bags and leave the rest for the others. It is only fair after all."

"Perfect" thank fuck I don't have to collect six bags before we get to carry on, I am ready for this all to be done and dusted. It's not like he can help me being blind, to be honest he is just a hindrance, and I should have just left him behind for his father to help him through the course. Two bags full I leave them by our team's bags and help Cayden to stand, see hindrance he got to rest whilst I had to work.

"Ok you are on your last stint and here we go" she points to an actual obstacle course that I had expected to partake in originally with rope swings, monkey bars and balance beams the full works, why couldn't we have just done this in the first place.

"Ok now that is an obstacle course." I exclaim out aloud making the she-wolf laugh beside me.

"What is?" Cayden asks confused.

"Monkey bars and the usual things you would expect."

"But my pack doesn't have that" what is he on about, does he not know what is on his pack lands there is no way this was built this evening.

"Well, it's right in front of me."

"How the hell am I going to manage that?"

"Fuck." Didn't think of that, helping him get his position I instruct him through it and to my surprise he manages much better than I thought, the balance beam was torturous with my stability all over the place, but it went smoother than I thought it would and I'm just glad that it was the last obstacle, my body is bruised and fatigued, and I cannot wait to have a nice warm shower. But my thoughts of rest are soon erased when I stumble out of the treeline and I see the bitch laughing with Alpha Chris, my temper flares and my wolf is right with me not enjoying the laughing stock she has made out of us, I find myself storming over to her without another thought, it may not seem like I am storming with all the stumbling I am doing but I am sure my aurora reflects my anger out to her.

"I'm going to kill you that was anything but fun" I roar out.

"You should have waited for the rest of your team, and you wouldn't be-" how dare she patronise me.

"Still, it was not fun." Cayden mutters.

"Son, you should quit before you dig yourself a hole" Alpha Chris smirks glancing between the both of us as this is some damn tv drama.

"With all due respect Alpha Chris this is between us." I snarl at him waving my hand between myself and Jenni, I watch as she places a hand on his arm giving it a gentle squeeze and Blaze growls in my head displeased at her show of affection to the alpha.

"Ok Soon to be Alpha Caspian. Let's settle this. A one-on-one fight. Just because you have not participated in my training sessions before does not give you a reason to disrespect me." Wait what now?

"Me" I scoff "it is you who is disrespecting me." how can she accuse me of disrespecting her when she is not treating me like a soon to be alpha.

"With all due respect it is not. This is my training session, you wanted to participate that is on you not me. As so you should show respect to your trainer."

"Fine when I have-" she silences me by slashing her hand through the air startling me, how arrogant can the she wolf be?

"You should be able to fight in any state. And to prove the point. Doc, can you give Caspian the antidote and give me the drink that will blind me, deafen me, block my mind link, make me lose sense of my balance and block my sense of smell please."

"You cannot be serious?!" I balk, this must be some sort of joke, how can she make a mockery of me? Glancing around the crowd that has formed around me I expect someone to speak out or to step in, but they just stand beside her in support.

"Very. Alpha Chris can you be my witness to make sure this a fair fight? Well that there is no cheating."

"Anything for you but are you sure?" he looks concerned for her but there is also a hint of pride shining in his eyes.

"Of Course. Oh," she tells Alpha Chris before turning her attention back to me "I am even happy for you to use weapons Caspian. That is if you wish too."

"This is a joke" I stutter, weapons, is she trying to make a fool of me.

"I assure you that this is not a joke. And do not disrespect me. If you do not want to that is fine, I will accept an apology and a favour in return." she snarls, and I cannot help but feel slightly turned on. Really this is not the time for that.

"What is going on here?" Dad saunters up to us glancing around, where has he been? And how has he not realised the fact there are two packs out here having a barbecue.

"Dad as I discussed with Alpha Chris this is between me and her" I don't need him having temper tantrum right now.

"If she is causing a problem then she should be dealt with accordingly. Where is Alpha Joe?"

"Enough this is between us" I snarl my irritation finally getting the better of me "I will go ahead with the fight as discussed but if you get hurt let everyone here know that it was her choice, and I am not responsible for your stupidity." Hmm…she requested something so why shouldn't I "And when I win you will make a formal apology in front of everyone and help me by introducing me to the pups of my pack that are here. And you will spend an hour with me in a training session to learn how a session should be run. Not that you should ever be in charge of anyone's training, it is appalling."

"Kick his arse sweet pea. I hope you make that favour painful for him." Alpha Chris encourages her, and my jaw slacks open in shock.

"Hmmm… Ok on one change I get two favours" she grins, her eyes flashing briefly "you asked for three things so it's only fair."

"A favour from an alpha is worth way more than what my son is asking of you." Dad snarls at her not happy and I can see the disgust he has for her written all over his face.

"Why does it matter what I ask for from him? As Caspian stated he is going to win. So, does it really matter? Or are you worried your son cannot fight and win against your former slave? The one you spent time torturing in your basement." What is she on about? I think I need to sit my father down again and try to find out what has been going on in the damn pack, actually it might be better if I sit with Danny and ask him "I remember how you used to call me weak and helpless."

"I accept. You win I will apologise and-" I have to believe she is lying about Dad at the moment, or I will not be able to concentrate on the matter at hand.

"A formal apology, it's only fair" someone beside her snarls out at me and I nod in agreement.

"Ok we know the terms. Doctor Philips if you please." He hands me a drink and I down it in one, it takes a few minutes, but disorientation disappears, and my balance is perfect again, I feel a calmness wash over me, I didn't know that balance would affect me so much. I know we learn about balance in training, but it is clear how important it is now. I watch as she drains her drink after I confirm to her that I have my balance back, I see her eyes glaze just like Cayden's did and assuming the other effects are kicking in as she shakes her head slightly, I watch her closely observing how she steadies her breathing after her senses are took away. I suddenly feel guilty at how I am about to embarrass her.

"Right let's get this going, shall we? Start when you are ready." Faking dodges she doesn't move an inch confirming that she is unaware of what I am doing, not wanting to hurt her I go to slap her face lightly to prove a point and plan to give her a little shove after, but she knocks my hand aside then tries to take my legs out surprising me and I only just manage to dodge the attack. She doesn't stop there though knocking me out of my state of shock as she advances on me and I have to block the barrage of attacks she aims at me trying to send some her way, she dodges and blocks them and I am utterly mind blown, how the hell? Did they lie about what they gave her? No surely not her balance isn't all there and she isn't hearing the other participates arrive. Sparring with her feels like sparring with another alpha but she is barely an omega, her aurora is even weaker than the omegas in our pack.

Lost in my own head space I nearly miss when she starts upping her attack and coming at me more making me defend.

'Get her in a choke hold for goodness' sake. You're embarrassing yourself, me and the pack' my dad snarls into my link. Listening to him I dodge her attack and wrap my arm around her throat, but she surprises me by dropping her weight suddenly before launching back in the air and smashing the back of her head into my face breaking my nose, stunned I loosen my arm around her throat, and she takes advantage and I find myself on my back with her pinning me down in a choke hold. I try to get out of it but fail miserably when I realise there is no way in getting out of it and have to tap out, I tap the round three times, but she still doesn't move.

"She cannot see idiot" Alpha Chris snorts, tapping her arm she stumbles to get up before offering her hand out to me, taking it, I let her pull me up.

"Well played-"

"Seriously" Alpha Chris slaps his hand over his face "She doesn't have a clue what you're saying either. She got rid of all her senses."

"Erm…Doc? Can I please have the antidote so I can finish up my training session with everyone? Pretty sure all of them are back by now."

I watch as she drinks the antidote before interacting with the pup, she was with at dinner time.

"How the hell could you lose? Did they cheat? We never trained her how can she spar like that?"

"Dad, not here and no they didn't cheat." I watch her as the other pups emerge around her and watch as Alpha Chris and Joe laugh at a video before Joe hits Chris in the arm making the alpha laugh even harder. To my surprise everyone is laughing and joking apart from me, Cayden and obviously my dad. Did they not go through the same hell as me.
