Chapter Thirty-Nine

ALPHA JOE POV

Staring down at the screen I cannot believe my eyes she has distinctions in every single subject she is taking and not only that in the last month she has almost completed over half of the years' work. There was me worrying about her getting behind by training my warriors and even further behind if she trained Alpha Chris's pack too and she is way ahead of her studies.

"I tried my best. I know my grades are probably not great, but I am honestly doing my best."

"Not great?" I ask her in disbelief what is she on about not having the best grades, she has gotten all D's they are higher grades than Cayden got at school, and he had lessons at school to teach him everything he needed to know whereas she hasn't.

"Yeah, D isn't great-"

"Woah wait a second you do know D is good right?" well its better than good but I need to know if she knows that.

"A is top grade and I am three grades below" Now I understand she is thinking of the A B C scoring system whereas the online courses mark in Distinction, Merit, Pass and of course F if you fail.

"Oh Jenni. That is true but in this case the D means Distinction. You are acing everything, and you have almost completed a whole year's work. How did you manage to get all this done? I thought you hadn't been in school since you were a young pup-" I ramble on still in shock if what Sarah and Chelsea have told me is true, she probably hasn't been sleeping no wonder she collapsed from exhaustion, she hasn't stopped.

"Alpha" she blurts at me, and I shut my mouth to stop my rambling.

"Sorry. Don't know what came over me." I admit feeling abashed "I am so proud of you. But I don't understand how you have done so much in so little time." We will have to keep an eye on her and get her to cut down on what she is doing.

'Sarah, my love if you are not busy can you come to my office, I need to show you something.'

"Oh, I thought I was underperforming." She sounds so shocked I cannot help but chuckle lightly.

"Nope. Rest be assured you are doing anything but." I smile at her reassuringly to receive a dazzling smile back.

'She should smile more. I like it when pup is happy.' Godric whispers, damn that wolf has a soft spot for the pup, he really does love her like his own pup, and I still haven't talked to Sarah about it.

"With the rate you have worked through this you probably will graduate in a couple of months. You're not trying to take over my pack, are you?" I joke just as there is a knock on the door and Sarah appears into the office, saving her from answering.

"Sarah, have a look at this" Jenni's cheeks flare up with embarrassment as I swivel the laptop around for her to see.

"Oh my gosh. That is amazing. You're smarter than Cayden" she gushes "We need to celebrate."

"Huh?" the look on Jenni's face is a picture as she tries to comprehend what Sarah is talking about.

"Jenni, sweetheart we need to celebrate your grades, they are amazing." Jenni looks at me with wide eyes no doubt pleading for me to help her, and I have to bite my cheeks to stop myself from smiling, ok from laughing.

"How about we celebrate when she graduates. At the rate she has completed this it won't take her long." I tell Sarah finally taking pity on her, stopping the planning in its tracks before it goes too far.

"Fine" Sarah huffs out and it's so adorable I need to have her in my arms, yanking her arm she lands with an oomph on my lap.

"Now that is sorted, we wanted to discuss with you about all the strange things we have been hearing. I know you said you fixed some things to me last night or I should say early hours of this morning, but we want to check up on a few other bits."

"Oo-kay" she responds unsure of herself.

"So, sweetheart I hear you have been helping quite a bit in the kitchen, not only making those wonderful pastries we all love but also helping with prep and baking and a whole heap of other things in the kitchen. Then Betty has told me you have been helping with the upkeep of the packhouse." That is way more than I thought she was doing.

"Well, you have all been so helpful and I had time to spare so thought I'd muck in. I'm so used to doing-" she pauses to think about what she is saying but she chooses to continue "I am so used to doing it all on my own that to suddenly not do anything is weird. So, I thought I might as well."

"You really didn't need to do that."

"And what else have you been doing around the pack?"

"Nothing much."

"Now that is a lie, Jenni. Travis in construction told me how his list of things that needed fixing, mending or upgrading has miraculously gotten shorter over the past month."

"Well, he lent me the wood I needed so I wanted to repay him somehow and knew he was getting stressed with the workload especially because of the storm. I really do need to get a job to pay him back for the wood, but I completely forgot to ask you if I could go to the human territory to get one. Is it possible?" she asks, and I am stunned into silence again. She has been working for no pay in my pack and wants to get a job on top of everything she is doing to pay us back for wood that she used for its use. And to top it all off she doesn't even expect to be paid for the work she has been doing. If I could get my hands on Alpha Rick right now, he-

"Jenni, you don't need to pay him back you used the wood for what it was meant to be used for."

"But I also used it for personal projects-"

"I am going to stop you right there. You used it to benefit the pack and that comes out of pack funds which means you don't owe anything and on the note of a job. You have been working without me even knowing and working many jobs that we pay pack members to do. Our pack gets paid for their work. I know you didn't get anything at…let's not mention that pack but here you do. You have even been training my pack. So, I…Well we have a proposition for you. I would like you to officially become one of the pack trainers, taking over my session and keeping your session."

"So, you will basically be doing what you are doing now but I would also like you to join forces with Carl to train his group. That way those who are doubling up their training sessions can stick to the one if they wish giving you more time with the others in your original session. If it is something you are happy to do, I would also like you to run a combined training session at a time of your choice for Alpha Chris's pack and ours."

"You don't have to pay me Alpha. I'll happily do it."

"It is non-negotiable you will be getting paid for the work you do. We will have to set you up with a bank account. In the meantime, I have organised this card with the wages you would have received for last month on it."
