Chapter Fifty-Six

CASPIAN POV

It's been a fucking roller coaster, Dad seems to be unhinged and I don't know what he has been doing, we don't talk about what has happened at the Evergreen Forest Pack and we don't discuss Danny. I, myself am still struggling to believe that he abused him, even when questioning mum about it, I get that boy is a traitor, you will not mention him in this pack again remark.

I know I have been gone awhile but how could things change so disastrously, but then again I'm not sure if it has. I cannot find a single piece of evidence to support what Jenni and Danny said. The whole pack is backing my parents up and accusing Jenni of making it all up. I really don't know whom to believe.

Trying to keep the peace between me and my brother I have been in constant contact with him, I want him back here where he belongs. I do not like the fact he is in another pack that I am not a hundred per cent on. We have never had dealings with them before and all I knew was they were quite solitary never getting involved if they could avoid it. Yet they are now tight with a pack they have never got on with, their neighbouring pack and from what I overheard whilst being there they want to do joint training sessions.

Sighing I slap another document onto my completed pile and lean back to look out the window. Dad has been hiding out in his office for the last two days not talking to anyone apart from his Beta and it worries me what he is doing because he is falling behind on his duties.

"Hey, Danny. What's up?" I ask swiping to accept his call.

"Jenni has been kidnapped." My wolf growls in my head displeased with the news of Jenni's disappearance.

"What do you mean?" I ask trying to get my head straight and formulate a plan of action whilst Blaze paces back and forth in my mind growling.

"She was in the pack clinic after collapsing and someone has taken her." Ok, that is a lot to unpack, why on earth did she collapse and why would someone take her?

"You're not making sense Danny-"

"Bro. Has Dad been up to anything?"

"Why are you accusing Dad again?" I ask miffed that he automatically blames our dad even though he isn't there and in the office down the hall from me.

"You don't believe me." Danny whimpers and all my anger disappears at his dejected tone of voice.

"Look, Danny. Dad is here and hasn't left the pack. I will get my guys to keep a close eye on him and come out and help find her."

"Forget it. I know you don't believe me." He puts the phone down and I find myself gaping at the phone, how did our relationship get to this? Not wanting it to get any worse I head to my room to pack a bag.

Heading into Dad's office I find him working through some paperwork with a smile on his face, what I can see there is nothing suspicious going on but that smile doesn't scream innocence either with the way he has been lately.

"Son, what can I do for you?"

"I'm going to visit Danny. I want to bring him back. This is his pack, not theirs."

"Do what you want but he is no son of mine. The way he disgraced me-"

"Dad please?" I plead, un-alpha-ish I know but this is stupid, Daniel is his son.

Getting nowhere with Dad I leave my trusted men to keep watch for anything suspicious and head off to the Evergreen Forest Pack.

Arriving at the pack I am met with a very distressed luna and pack. They are all in various states, most dishevelled from no doubt tracking her whereabouts.

"Caspian. Thank you for coming, I am assuming you have heard. I think Danny is with the other pups at the moment trying to keep them calm if you would like to go see him."

"I think it is best to help find her first. My brother is in the mind that Dad is behind it."

"Yes, I got that feeling from him. Very well, well my mate along with Alpha Chris and a few others have just left to search a new area they are hoping she has been taken to."

"So, she has definitely been taken and not gone off on her own."

"This is one hundred per cent a kidnapping. Unfortunately, we cannot find any scents that shouldn't be here which is making it harder, and with the fact that Jenni doesn't have a scent makes it even harder."

"What do you mean she doesn't have a scent? Everyone has a scent. Even humans do."

"Well, that is the strange thing. None of the pups have a scent. But we haven't asked about it, after their er…" she trails off and I have a feeling she doesn't want to offend me.

"Because of how they were treated in my father's pack." I supply, and she gives a slight nod.

"Ah, where are my manners? Come inside and I'll get you something to eat and drink, the room you had last time is available if you want to rest and if you want to join in the search head to the training grounds, you should be able to join up with one of the search groups heading back out." Luna Sarah informs me, her mind elsewhere but still attempting to be an admirable host.

Declining her offer, I jog straight over to the training grounds to be stopped in my tracks by an unexpected sight. In the distance attempting to keep out of sight in the tree line, is a very familiar wolf and one that should be nowhere near this pack with another wolf I do not know. Keeping them in my line of sight I creep towards them using the cabins as cover.

"They're moving her tomorrow night. You need to get hold of the boy fast."

"I'm working on it. It's not fucking easy. Everyone is on high alert now that you took the girl."

"We fucking had to she was onto us and asking way too many questions. Bet she regretting it now, the vamp has taken a liking to her, think he is going to make her into one of his pets."

"Shit."

'Cas, we need to shred them apart how could they-'

'Blaze quiet I'm trying to think.'

'Danny? I know you hate me but I need you to get Luna Sarah to send warriors to my location now.' I tell him giving him a rough description of where I am.

'Cas? What are you doing here?'

'Danny not now. Warriors now please, I may have found a lead.' Creeping closer as to not spook them, I listen carefully for the sounds of approaching warriors.

"Shit. We have been spotted." The unknown wolf barks out, searching the area to find who has outed them. Landing eyes on me he shifts and lunges at me but my eyes are not on him but on my uncle.
