Chapter 39: Monster Tide-4

I continued shooting arrow after arrow at the monster tide killing the flying monsters left and right.

I started killing corporal stage monsters also after I levelled up. It has greatly increased my strength and the mana storage has also increased.

Now, I can store more than twelve times the mana I used to store in the storage cylinders before. I finished drinking all the low-level mana portions provided by the military to bring back the mana storage capacity to 83%.

We got our next supply of mana and vitality portions. I kept all the portions in my storage so I can drink them when needed.

I let Serina out and she immediately jumped down the wall and started attacking the monsters that came into her sight like a berserker.

I can't blame her as she has been staying inside me for that level-up for more than ten hours after the battle started. She was really pissed about that.

Since I levelled up to the low-level corporal stage directly, it will take a few minutes for me to get adjusted to my new power as it has increased tenfold.

But that didn't stop me from killing the monsters from the tide. We have to give our all to defeat this tide. The number of monsters joining the battle is still increasing by the minute.

We saw soldiers bringing many injured warriors back to the city gates. These warriors have used all their healing and vitality portions provided to them.

They will join the fray after drinking a few healing and vitality portions. Once they are fully healed and revitalized, they went back outside to join the fight.

Still, half of the backup warriors are waiting for orders within the gate. Kamran and Joe are part of this backup. They are yet to join the fight.

I could see from the wall how restless they are and want to join the battle. But they are waiting for their orders nevertheless.

We fought till evening and I have not used any other attacks except fur standard arrows. That's how many monsters below the corporal stage are on the battlefield.

New monsters are still trickling in from the forest and we are fighting with all we have to defend ourselves. There is no news about the reinforcement. We don't know if the military asked the nearby towns and cities for them.

But we all hoped that the battle will end in our favour of us. We held to that hope and kept fighting. I am already very tired as I did not get any rest after the training and came to defend against the tide.

If I do not have the willpower to continue attacking, I would have already fallen unconscious on the wall itself. But I held on and continued to fight.

The fight continued even after the sun had set. But the monsters that came to join the battle have reduced and we got a small breathing space. At this time, the backup warriors went out and gave the fighting warriors their much-needed rest.

We also got a few hours of time to rest. I called Serina back using our mind connection so she could also get some rest. She was too eager to fight I had to call her multiple times before she came back to me.

We again started our fight after midnight. The monsters are still in large numbers. All the archers started targeting powerful monsters that are on the battlefield.

I also started using the "death strike" to kill peak-level corporal stage monsters and also low level sergeant stage monsters.

Serina again went out to continue her own rampage. We continued killing monsters till dawn. Only after that, the monster tide was defeated and the rest of the monsters retreated back to the forest.

Hundreds of drones immediately went over the city wall to provide healing portions to the wounded warriors. I also drank Mt last vitality portion yo regain my strength.

I got down from the wall and immediately called Kim to check if she is okay, but to my surprise, she is already talking to someone else.

I waited for fifteen minutes as I know she will call back once she completes her call. But I did not get any calls from her.

I tried calling her again, but she was still talking. After another fifteen minutes, she called back and said that she was fine and I don't have to worry about her.

I heaved a sigh of relief and went in search of Kamran and Joe. I found them in five minutes near the medical area helping wounded warriors.

The battle is over, but we did not get the order to leave as there is a possibility of the monsters coming back and attacking.

Soldiers have already started patrolling the surroundings to make sure that doesn't happen or warn us if it does.

After another hour, we got the orders to return home. We did not care to collect the monster bodies we killed as they would be recorded by the drones during the fight.

We will be given the number of monsters we have killed and will be rewarded according to our contribution.

We first went to Kamran and Joe's home as they insisted I join them for a meal. Joe called his wife ahead and let her know they are fine and bringing me along for a meal.

Once we reached their home we were welcomed with warm hugs from Joe's wife and his daughter. We all took showers as we were fighting for nearly one and a half days before sitting at the table for a well-deserved meal.

We talked a lot about the monster tide and Kamran, Joe and his wife Aisha said how surprised they are to sense my stage as a corporal stage.

Even Joe's daughter Kathy was happy to see that I have levelled up so quickly. It has just been a year since I integrated with Serina.

It is considered a miracle to level up to the corporal stage in just one year. Even I am surprised you levelled up so soon. But I was so lucky for that to happen.
