Chapter 42: Hunting Alone

I learnt all the skills I got as rewards in the next six days. I also got my upgraded bow and armour for Joe on the fifth day and was eager to go on hunting.

On the sixth day, I got a call from Kamran saying that he got a mission from the mysterious man and have to leave immediately.

He couldn't say where he is going but said it will take at least six months for him to return. I was surprised to hear this and also a bit sad as I have to hunt alone without any company.

No one knows the identity of the mystery man and the organization he works for. All of us know one thing. The organization he works for is strong.

Even the military higher officials are not willing to talk about them but show respect to even a specialist who has their badge and gives full freedom to them.

Now I have to plan everything from scratch since I will be hunting alone. We first planned according to a pair of hunters working together, but since I am going alone, I have to redo my work.

I went to Hunter's guild and purchased a few more bottles of healing and mana potions. I already purchased three vitality portions.

We were planning to hunt in the area called Crison lake as it will have a lot of master sergeant stage and a few lieutenant stage monsters. It will help Kamran to test the new speed skill he has learned as a reward for defending the city against the tide.

That speed skill will improve his battle power so much as he already has strength ability.

I went to see Kamran who was getting ready to leave for the airport as he is going a long way away from here. The travel via air alone will take three days.

He did not say where he is going and did not show me the ticket for his airship. I am not worried about Kamran as he is strong and will complete his mission without fail.

I said goodbye to Kamran and left his home towards the gate so I can call for an armoured cab to enter the forest.

It took less than an hour to reach the area I chose to hunt. It is a part of the forest where high and peak-level corporal monsters roam. There is no specific name for this place.

I decided to hunt them as it will also help me to practice my skills. These monsters are not that much threat to me, but I will be injured heavily if I make any mistake.

I am currently circulating the eighteenth move of the seventh set in mana circulation now. Two more moves and I will be able to create my eight-mana seal. Then all the mana seals will combine to form one vitality seal in my mana space.

I can practice wind steps only in the training room as it is too dangerous to walk in the air outside the city walls as I am not strong enough and I don't have the authority to do it inside the city.

I saw a clearing a few feet away and when I reached there, I saw a small pond with clear water. The water was so clear that I could see the bottom of the pond.

I also saw five flaming beetles near the pond. These beetles are as big as an adult's head. Their shells are very tough and can't be penetrated by any standard arrows.

These beetles are of fire element and the only weak part they have is their mouth which is an opening to their soft inner parts. One has to have a very powerful offensive power or be very good at targeting their mouth to kill them from range.

All the flaming beetles are at the peak level specialist stage which will be easy to kill if they did not have their shells. Their shells are very strong equal to the turtle armour I am wearing.

Their shells are black with red spots on them which made it easy for me to differentiate their elemental nature. I might not be able to defeat them if I am not focused.

Since there is no one around, I can use my wind ability and improve it. I can also practice my wind step here since the clearing is about five hundred meters wide in all directions.

But I must be cautious not to do too high as it will attract other flying monsters. I can only use it up to six feet to be in the safe zone. Since these flaming beetles can fly using their tiny wings, this will help me to fight on equal ground.

The flaming beetles are yet to notice my presence. So, I took my bow and used my wind ability to make the arrow that formed while I pulled the string to go faster.

I waited for a perfect time to kill one of them in a single strike. If one of the monsters dies, it will relieve a lot of pressure on me and I can fight with the other four with less pressure than fighting five.

'Swoosh swoosh swoosh'

After two minutes, I released three arrows which were very fast due to my wind ability of mine. I targeted three different flaming beetles' mouthparts. One of them died instantly as the arrow hit it accurately.

The second arrow missed its target by a few inches, due to the flaming beetles becoming aware of my presence once the first beetle died. But still, it made notable damage to the flaming beetle.

The third arrow missed its target completely and hit the shell of the beetle and didn't make a scratch.

The beetles started to come at me in a fury seeing one of their brethren killed and another wounded by me.

I immediately used 'wind steps' and started to run in the air as the beetles came to attack me. The severely injured beetle was slow and is at the back due to its injury.
