Chapter 14 : The Nightmare

It was dark and cold in the room.We were both lying on the bed,looking at the roof.Rahul was deeply thinking about something.He said "Hazel! I am greatly conserned about this earth and the future generations.We are over exploiting everything on this earth making it unsafe for our children.Have you remembered the news of those children who died due to consumption of micro plastic when you travelled through time (2020).Many animals like buffaloes,cows,fishes and many others are being effected due to this."

I can feel the pain in his voice. He is greatly conserned about this earth and greatly inspired by my grandpas words.I said to him "we will work togeather on this aspect.We will bring awareness in people.And promote them to use eco friendly meterials.We will make baskets of palm leaves and coconut leaves insted of plastic covers to carry things.We can even use cloth bags or leather bags instead of plastic." I was very exited.Rahul turned to me and said "I promise you today that I will fight against the plastic and never allow to set the plastic industry in our village." I replied him with a smile saying...." I will stand with you whenever and wherever you need me"."We will gift a beautiful place for our children to live"we both said this at a time.Rahul pulled my hand close to him and closed his eyes.I was feeling very sleepy.I fell asleep as soon as i closed my eyes.

I can hear some noise.It is like someone is crying.I opened the door.Some children were lying on the floor.I tried to wake them up but they were dead.There were plastic covers in their mouth.Some children were sitting there and were breathing very forcefully.I ran to help them,but they suddenly collapsed.There was a river nearby....I ran to bring some water to wake up children.Instead of water plastic and black black liquid was flowing in it.There was no water around.Then my eyes felt on children who were crying out of hunger.They were pushing mud into thre mouths to overcome the hunger.I started to scream for help,but there were no one around.I was confused and started to run in search of help.Land was barren with no trees.

I suddenly woke up from my bed.I started to cry.My hands started to shiver.I then realised that it was a nightmare.Rahul woke up and he was demented to see me in this situation.He gave me some water.I had it.I was feeling terrified.He pulled me closure and made me to sleep.
