Kayden left the restaurant and wandered through the streets of Irella, he thought about the gear he might want to get. There were some market stalls with clothing and weapon displays for people who wanted to purchase equipment.
He stopped by one stall that sold clothes and armor and started browsing the items.
A man with dark skin and grey hair was sitting behind the stall
"Hi, I'm looking to buy some clothing for my journey." Kayden said
The man nodded, looked Kayden up and down "Just as well..., Im Valan, owner of this stall" He pulled out a variety of items such as boots, tunics, cloaks, belts.
"How much did you have in mind to spend?" The man asked.
Kayden thought for a moment and glanced down at his current clothes "30.. 40 silvers for all?" He said.
Valan laughed ''Kiddo you are having a laugh right? for a full set you would need about 2 gold coins. for 40 silvers you could probably get a pair of shoes and gloves!'' He said laughing.
''Alright just set me up, I also need a bag thats easy to carry'' Kayden picked out some simple clothing similar to what he was currently wearing.
''If you are travelling you will need a spatial bag, these are a bit more expensive since magic is applied.. cheapest one here is 1 gold.. along with a full set of clothing your total is 3 gold coins 15 silvers...''
Kayden sighed and took out his coin purse and counted the money out. He paid the man and got the bag and headed off to get weapons.
He remembered seeing a shop he liked the look of, he walked past the sign that read 'Blacksmiths', and he saw a large building that had several people entering and leaving. A large hammer appeared above the door, Kayden decided it might be worth a visit.
He entered and saw a blacksmith working away, he was making an axe head. The blacksmith seemed to notice Kayden as he suddenly stopped work and turned to face him.
"What can I do for you?" He asked.
Kayden looked at the blade in his hand, he was impressed with how quickly the blacksmith worked. He didn't seem to even break sweat.
"I am looking to purchase a weapon, but I'm unsure what is best for me to pick, I heard swords were better than axes or clubs, but I don't know which one would suit me best." He said
The Blacksmith looked at the axe in his hands and then towards Kayden and nodded "Aye, Swords are usually best sellers, however, I can tell you that you dont look to be build to carry heavy duty weapons like a sword, those ears you are of elf blood, and your features speak of a half-elf. You are lacking muscle mass, this means that you would struggle carrying a heavy weight, therefore my suggestion for you is to go for a dagger or whip for close combat or a classic bow if you are long range. These are much lighter and easier to carry." He pointed at the items on the side of the forge
There were a variety of daggers, bows, and short swords. Each one different from the next, yet all seeming to serve their own purpose. There were also whips of different kinds on the wall.
"You can take your pick, but remember to stay within your strength limits, I dont do refunds." He said before turning back to his craft.
Kayden picked up a few and examined them closely, although he worked out back on earth and his body now was that similar to his own he wasnt bulky like a lot of adventurers he had seen, they looked like professional heavyweight wrestlers.
"Can I ask why these ones are so cheap?" He asked, there was a barrel with a mix of different weapons.
The blacksmith didnt look back while hitting the metal "They're second-hand weapons, some may be a bit battered but they are still fine to use. People may get them from dungeons and donate them here, I use them as scrap and can melt down the non-magic blades.''
Kayden sighed, he would end up with second-hand weapons in the end looking at the regular prices, they were too much for him to afford if he still wanted to purchase other things. He wanted to use mutliple weapons to see which was best to work with.
'Huh? isnt that pattern familiar?' Gemini interjected
Kayden had also picked up on this. It has no guard, a black leather-bound grip, and a magenta gem set in the pommel which was surrounded by a pattern of runes.. the pattern itself had appeared on coffin he woke up on although he noticed them he didnt think too much of it.
''Excuse me, do you know where this came from?'' Kayden asked the blacksmith
He stopped what he was doing and glanced at the blade "I dont know, some adventures dropped it off along with some other stuff, I assumed they brought it from a dungeon. They were all a bit rusted looking, so far none of those things have been sold.''
Kayden put the dagger down on the table and searched for the other weapons, a whip with the same stone and runes on the handle, the material was frayed slightly along the whip itself and was pretty thin compared to others.
After looking for awhile he didnt find any other weapons but the only other thing he found what he thought was a loose handle but no weapon attached.
''How much for these?'' Kayden asked
''Ill sell you them for 2 gold and 25 silvers, one gold for each of the weapons and 25 silvers for that handle part'' the blacksmith replied
Kayden sighed, he had expected it to be expensive to start with but this was more than he had hoped for, he had very few gold coins, but he should still have enough to get the rest of the equipment he needs.
