I didn't sleep much after the whole ordeal at the hospital. And the next day, during my first period, Stiles bombarded me with information. Scott apparently bit Liam, and now he was going to either turn into a werewolf or die. Lydia's math notes were actually computer code. And I had a C in math, which honestly was the least of my worries.
"I think he's going to be fine," I said to Scott as he looked over at Liam for the hundredth time. I looked at Liam, my eyes glowing silver for only a second before they went back to normal, "His aura looks fine," I added. Scott nodded before his phone dinged, "Stiles wants to meet up by the busses. We're trying to figure out how to deal with the Liam situation," he explained, looking up from his phone and seeing the curiosity on my face. "You coming?" he asked as he started towards the door. I nodded and followed him out to where the others were all standing.
I quietly listed as Scott and Stiles explained what was going on to Malia, Kira, and Lydia. "I'm not sharing my basement," Malia said, "Actually, it's my basement, and my mom noticed how you tore it up last time," Lidia corrected.
"All right, she's still learning," Stiles defended. "But we're going to use to the boathouse for Liam; it's got support beams. We can chain him to one of them," Scott explained. "But how do we get him out to the lake house," Kira asked. "Yeah, I mean, it's not like he trusts either of you," I added, pointing at Scott and Stiles.
"I say if it keeps him from murdering someone, we just chloroform the little bastard and throw him in the lake," Stiles said sarcastically. "I'm in," Malia stated, agreeing with Stiles's plan. "Yeah, but then we would be the murderers," I replied, shaking my head. "Amaya's right; we're not killing or kidnapping him," Scott stated.
"Why don't we just talk to him, like normal people," I suggested. "We tried that. It didn't work," Stiles replied. "No, you tied him up and put him in a bathtub. Which was stupid," I retorted, earning a glare from Stiles.
"Then let's be smarter. We tell him there's a party and invite him," Lydia suggested. "So, you're going to ask out a freshman?" Stiles inquired. "No, I'm done with teenage boys. But if we're playing a trick on someone, let's use the trickster," Lydia replied, looking over at Kira.
"Who me? No way. Not me!" Kira exclaimed as everyone looked at her. "Yes, you. You know what they call a female fox? A vixen," Lydia replied. "Come on. You can do it. I believe in you," I added with a smirk.
"You can do it, Kira. Be a vixen," Lydia smirked at her.
I listened as Lydia gave Kira flirting lessons, Malia seemed weirdly invested in the conversation, but I just hung back with the boys. "This is going to work. right?" Stiles asked, and I shrugged. "We should have had you do it," Scott said, and I looked at him, confused. "He seems to trust you," Scott explained. "Yeah, well, he knows I'm friends with you guys, so, yeah," I responded.
After what felt like forever, we headed inside. We all made our way to the lockers while Kira got one last pep talk from Lydia before we dispersed.
The final bell rang, and Scott, Stiles, and I watched as Kira came down the stairs; she immediately caught Liam's attention. I couldn't believe this plan was actually working, but then Kira fell down the stairs. Thankfully Liam went to help her, and from what I could tell, everything went as planned.
"Hey, I need to get home. See you guys tonight?" I said to Scott as I shut my locker. "You don't have to come, Amaya, not if you don't want to; I know you didn't really sign up for any of this," Scott said cautiously. I looked at him for a moment, "I'm here now. And I want to help," I said. Scott nodded, "Then I'll see you at eight," he said.
Around seven, I got a text from Scott asking if I wanted to ride with him to Lydia's lake house since I had never been before, and of course, I agreed. I frantically ran around my room, trying on different outfits. Finally, I settled on a black pair of jeans and a blue tank top. As I was putting on my shirt, my phone dinged. It was Scott. I threw on my boots and ran out of my room.
"Amaya!" I heard my mom call after me as I reached the bottom of the stairs. "Where are you going?" she asked, looking me up and down. "Lydia invited me to a party at her lake house," I replied, and my mom nodded. "Full moon," she stated, giving me a look. "I'll be fine. It's just a party," I responded, and my mom nodded again. "Be safe," she instructed. "I will," I yelled as I ran out the door and into the garage.
I threw on my leather jacket, opened the garage door, and pushed my bike out. I knew I needed to tell my mom about what had happened. She knew the basics of the supernatural world, she knew I was a witch, and I had told her about the other types of supernatural creatures out there. And I wanted to tell her about what was going on, but it never felt like the right time.
"Wow, that's a nice bike," I heard Scott say. I looked over at him and smiled. "Thanks, my mom hates it," I said with a laugh, and Scott smiled. "I didn't know you had a bike," Scott said as I walked over to him. "Well, Scott, there's a lot you don't know about me," I replied with a smirk. Scott smiled and shook his head, "Well, let's do this," he said, putting on his helmet and starting his bike. I did the same. We pulled out of my driveway and onto the road. Scott took the lead, and I followed him to Lydia's.
When we rolled up, everyone but Kira was outside waiting for us. "I just talked to Kira. She's on her way. She said it's all going fine," Scott said as we hopped off our bikes.
"Yeah, it's not that. I have to tell you something." Stiles said, walking over to us. "Okay," I said, looking concerned. "I asked around about Liam. I know why he got kicked out of his last school." Stiles explained. "This is going to be bad, isn't it," Scott said, looking at me, and I shrugged.
"He kind of got into it with one of his teachers. And the kid's got some serious anger issues." Stiles explained. "How serious?" I asked. "Well, that's his teacher's car after he took a crowbar to it," Stiles said, handing me his phone, which had a picture of a very damaged car on it. I showed it to Scott; the windshield was shattered, so were the front windows, and there were scratches all over the vehicle. "That's bad," I muttered.
Scott's phone dinged; it was a text from Kira, telling him she was almost here. We all rushed inside and waited. Soon enough, Liam and Kira walked through the door; Liam's smile eminently disappeared as his eyes landed on us. "Sorry," Kira said, as she shut the door, trapping him.
"What the hells this?" he asked, glaring at us. "Think of it like an intervention. You have a problem, Liam." Stiles answered. "And we're the only ones who can help," Scott added.
"For the record, this wasn't my idea," I blurted out, and everyone looked at me, annoyed. "What! I don't want him thinking I came up with this dumb-ass plan," I explained. "Thanks, Amaya. Way to throw us under the bus," Stiles replied sarcastically.
After that, I shut up and listened as Scott explained everything to Liam. Stiles would occasionally throw in a side note.
"Werewolf. Werecoyote. Banshee. Witch. Fox?" Liam said, pointing at each of us. "Kitsune, but fox works," Kira corrected. "What are you?" Liam asked, looking at Stiles. "Uh, for a little while, I was possessed by an evil spirit," Stiles answered. "What are you now?" Liam asked. "Better," Stiles replied. "Eh, he's still a little murdery sometimes, but I think he was like that before," I muttered with a smirk. I watched as Liam smiled at what I said. But then his eyes landed on the coffee table, and his smile fell.
"Those for me?" Liam asked, looking at the chains on the coffee table. "No, they're for me," Malia responded, flashing her icy blue eyes at him. "How did you do that?" Liam hissed, and I could tell he was getting scared. "You'll learn. But first, you need to get through the full moon," Scott answered, trying to calm him down.
"The moons already out," Liam retorted. "And you're starting to feel something, aren't you?" Scott said. "I feel like I'm surrounded by a bunch of psychotic nutjobs! You guys are out of your freaking minds! I don't know how you did that eye thing, and I don't care. I'm walking out that door right now! And if any of you try and stop me, I swear to God, I'm gonna," Liam yelled, but suddenly, he stopped and let out a scream covering his ears. "What is it? what's wrong?" Scott asked. "You don't hear that?" Liam stammered.
All of a sudden, car lights flashed through the curtains and into the living room. I peeked through the curtains and saw a group of cars pulling into the driveway. "Who else did you tell about this?" Scott asked Liam. "Just Mason. He's my best friend," Liam replied. "Yeah, well, your friend invited the whole school," I exclaimed, walking away from the window and over to the others.
Liam let out a growl, and I watched as his eyes flashed gold. "We need to get him out of here. Now!" Scott yelled as he grabbed onto Liam. Kira helped him drag Liam to the boat house.
"Stiles!" Malia said right before she let out a roar. "Hey. Okay, basement. Now, now." Stiles said as he picked up the chains and grabbed Malia's hand.
"What am I supposed to do with the hordes gathering outside the door?" Lydia asked. "Lydia, who throws the best parties in Beacon Hills?" Stiles asked, "What? Me obviously," Lydia replied in a squeaky voice. "Okay, then throw a party," Stiles said before dragging Malia away.
"I'll help," I said, smiling at Lydia as we walked over to the door. She opened it, and we saw the entire freshman class. "Oh, this is going to suck," I muttered as I pat her on the back.
Everyone flooded in, and music started playing. After a while, I lost track of Lydia, I wandered through the crowd trying to find her, but after a while, I gave up and made my way to the deck. I stepped outside and felt the cold breeze from the lake washed over me. It was so peaceful here; the lake looked beautiful, with the moon reflecting off of it. I just stood there admiring the view until I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket. It was a text from Scott. All it said was, "Liam is free,".
I waited outside, looking for any sign of Scott or Liam. After a few minutes, I saw Kira walking up from the boat house. "Hey, are you okay," I asked, and Kira nodded. "Liam got out, and Scott went after him," she explained. "Have you seen Lydia? She needs to know what's going on," Kira asked, and I shook my head. "She's inside somewhere. I think upstairs," I said.
Kira and I stepped inside and made our way through the crowd and up the stairs. We walked through the hall, "In here," I whispered as I pointed at the door at the end of the hall. Kira opened it, and we stepped inside. Our eyes landed on Lydia, she was sitting in front of a record player, but it wasn't playing anything. "Lydia?" I said softly, but she didn't respond. "What do you hear?" Kira asked, stepping closer to her. "The key. The key to break the code," she replied.
Kira looked over at me, confused. "The code on her computer," I muttered, and Kira nodded before running downstairs. She returned a few moments later with Lydia's laptop and handed it to her. We both watched as she began typing, finishing parts of the code she had put into her computer earlier.
Then in a box at the bottom of the page, she typed ALLISON before hitting enter. The page turned white, and then names began to appear one by one. "What is this?" Kira asked, looking at the list. "It's a list of supernatural creatures in Beacon Hills," Lydia replied. "Those numbers must be prices," I added.
"It's a dead pool. And we're all on it," Lydia whispered.
Chills ran down my spine as I scanned the list. I froze as my eyes landed on the third name from the bottom, which read Amaya Blair with the number 8 next to it. This wasn't good.
