Chapter 39.

Zach's POV. Part three.

After leaving Claires estate I headed to a copy store so that I could make copies of all the evidence I had just acquired. I wasn't dumb enough to only have one copy.

I made four copies one for me, one to give back to Claire and two to send out to the police and a news studio. I was trying to cover all of my bases.

After I had all of my copies made, I went to meet up with Mike. My subordinate as well as my contact for this case. I was going to see where they were at in regard to bringing James down as well as when I would be allowed to go after the terrorist group, he was funding.

This time we were meeting inside the city instead of the dreary slums. Thank God I didn't want to make the trip all the way out there just for a meeting.

We were meeting at a local club that was apparently very popular with the girls and the young rich heirs. Just what I needed, not.

Mike was a very big fan of clubs since we usually just spent all of our time on the battlefield either killing people or getting ready to kill people.

So as reluctant as I was to go, it was a nice change. Plus, Mike was like my little brother, so I was just looking out for him.

Little did I know that it would come back and bite me in the ass later on.

Eve's POV.

Once I made it to work, I was greeted by a lovely never-ending stack of paperwork to fill my schedule.

"Oh, goody my work lover. Paperwork." I said begrudgingly as I moved towards my desk and sat down.

I get right to work going through the paperwork and meetings that I had scheduled today not even stopping for lunch. I was in true workaholic mode. Much to my dismay.

At around four o'clock a knock interrupted my 'amazing' workflow.

"KNOCK!" "KNOCK!"

"Come in." I said looking up from my papers.

"Sorry for the interruption Miss Eve however Rose is here to see you. So, I thought that it would be alright." My assistant said with a neutral tone.

"Oh YAY! Of course, let her in right away Marie." I said happily.

"Hey! Hey, how is my favorite workaholic doing!" Rose beamed as soon as she waltzed into my office. She always had a boisterous personality, I greatly missed it.

"Rosie oh how I have missed you." I said happily wrapping her in a tight hug.

"I'm doing great but enough about me. Why are you caged up in our office we need to go to party. Just like old times." She said as she started to pull me out of my office.

"Wait I need to finish work." I tried to plead to her, but to no avail.

"Nope I am sure you are ahead of schedule anyways. I know the perfect club to go to." She said as we officially left the safety of my office.

I loved Rose, she was a very dear friend to me however she needed to work on chilling out every now and then.

Little did I know that I would be sorely regretting my decision to come along with her.
