Chapter Twenty

"I wish you would find someone else to care for those dogs," Kayana sighed, leaning against her brother's side. Her hands slipped over his chest, tracing the taut muscles reverently. "I like my servants to myself."

"You chose the one I had selected to raise the runt," Karanos moved her hand firmly. "And since that was his purpose, to begin with, you will have to concede and share him. His only other fate would have been death."

"You are stubborn," Kayana said, gripping his fingers as he tried to draw back. She pressed them to her red lips. "But I am as well. What a pair we make, but bear in mind, a woman is far more wily than a male. I have my ways, my dear brother."

Karanos arched his eyebrow elegantly and gazed solemnly at her. He didn't need or want to read her thoughts; his suspicions were enough.

"I'm sure you do. And my eyes will be watching."
