My heart hammered against my chest, I was facing him and he was staring right back at me.
Like it was just the two of us in the entire classroom.
”Hey, Twinkle!” Cree snapped his fingers in front of me. I blinked my eyes and stared at him. He was grinning at me, I looked back at the window he was gone.
I sighed sadly with my crouched back on the chair.
“What’s wrong?” He stared at me with a concerned look.
“Nothing to worry about.” I smiled and touched his hands and he withdrew, sneaking back to his seat, I looked behind me again, I couldn’t understand what I was feeling.
I breathed out in relief when I heard the sound of the bell.
I did say something at least, I didn’t fall silent or stammer when I was talking or answering questions. That was more than enough. Since the project was about solving problems, I had brought about the shield, it was part of solving problems too.
Whichever.
“Do you think I’ll pass? Huh.” I nudge Cree on his elbow while we strolled to the cafeteria.
“Erm, You might get a credit.” He shrugged with his hands tucked into his pocket.
“Shit!”
“Don’t get so worked up. You did your best at the dying minute. You should be worried about me.” He laughed at himself.
“I’m not as smart as you are,” his hands went over my neck and pulled me close to his chest. I pushed him off on his ribs making him groans.
“...better than some of those thieves.” I snarled when I saw them head in.
“What are you now?” He gave me a teasing look.
“Monster hunter.” He chuckled and moved away from me, I balled my fist and marched down to him.
“You!” I growled and he ran, laughing all the way to the cafeteria.
