She doesn't want to be a Guardian... not again.

Five years after her beloved's murder, twenty-six-year-old Blair Nelson from the FBI's Fifth Division vowed to never become a Guardian again. Her supervisor lieutenant sends her down to Santa Fe, New Mexico to assist the Division of the Tenth with their ongoing case - keeping watch of their non-human witness who may be a suspect of a murder; the same witness who may have killed Blair's beloved. Blair meets one on one with a woodland elf, Altin, who has been in holding at the Division of the Tenth. She learns that she must be a Guardian to Altin after he has been severely injured from a traitorous elf. Upset that she is Guardian once again, her heart has yet betrayed her for wanting to be closer to Altin. Can Blair let the past go and become a Guardian for Altin or will she let herself go and fail everyone; including herself?

“This has to be one of the most exciting field trips for you, huh?” Freya asked. Freya Harrison, the same name that popped up from the forwarded email that was sent to Blair’s supervisor, requested for the young and ambitious agent to meet with the Division of the Tenth. Xan and Freya walk side by side with Blair on the other side of Freya, not wanting anything to do with the mysterious agent anymore. It hasn’t even been a full day since she picked him up and already she has had enough of him. Time to take a breather and let someone else take the reign on who is next to bother Blair. At least give the girl a chance to have a rational debate about her purpose of being here. To be fair, Blair held on to that question for Freya herself. Blair theorized Freya sent Xan out to make sure he and Blair would meet up and she would have no choice but to take the agent back to the New Mexico headquarters. “Do you miss those days, Blair?”
