"I mean, the meanings differ upon the situation," Ekim finally said, "But for a newly married couple, this is what it means," She added.
Cassandra sat down on the bed and looked like someone had sucked the life out of her. So this is why he was nice, to make her a baby machine and produce an heir for his Kingdom. It all made sense now. But why on the world would he want a baby so soon, she thought.
Tatiana entered Cassandra's chamber without knocking, because she had books on both her hands, and her powers held the rest. She arranged them and finally looked at Cassandra, her face pale as a white sheet, holding the flowers.
"Who sent you that?" Tatiana looked confused for a second, but that was until Ekim filled her in. She locked the main chamber's door with her powers and sighed.
"I mean, it could have a different meaning too," Tatiana spoke slowly, and Cassandra's colour seemed to return to her face.
"Like what?" Kyllee asked her, curious about those flowers once again.
"It means she's a unique person too," Tatiana remarked.
"But King Kaydn is married to her, that one is meant for proposals," Ekim rolled her eyes, she seemed to despise Kaydn. Tatiana seemed to understand her behaviour.
"It could be used for asking another chance," Tatiana said, feeling it might make sense.
Ekim was lost in thought, even she felt like it might make more sense than the first message.
"Makes sense," Cassandra finally spoke," But won't it be better if I just asked him, in case his meaning is different?" She asked. Tatiana nodded.
.
"Brother, what brings you here?" Azinza looked around panicking, but Kaydn did not notice that. He just wanted to get his mind off of a few things.
"Just to have a conversation." She wondered if he had found out about tomorrow's disaster, but she knew that it was fool proof and it'll never lead to her.
"Ohh," She fake smiled and pretended to arrange her new perfumes which had just arrived.
"I heard there's a tea party tomorrow, were you invited?" He asked her, finally bursting the bubble. He realised that's what made him feel uneasy, to feel left out in his own palace.
"I'm hosting it, I didn't invite you because it's just for ladies," She looked at him baffled, and wondered who told him. She assumed it was their mother, and she did not want to think him and his wife were getting along.
"Ahh," He raised one eyebrow as she giggled nervously. He felt better after this, and he felt happy for Cassandra. He wanted her to feel included in every event, she was his queen after all. He felt himself thinking too much about her nowadays, but only because she was still a mystery to him.
A mystery of the woman who had her entire life revolving around him. He had always wondered and felt guilty, and this was the least he could do to make her life better after succumbing to all the news about him and Rylla. She had always seemed to hate him, that's what he thought. Little did he know she loved him.
.
"My Lord, would it be alright if I interrupt your tea break?" Cassandra knocked on the chamber's door. It took her a good while to find this place, and she was too embarrassed to ask anyone. What kind of a wife would not know where her husband spends his entire day, she thought.
He was looking outside the window, longing for a motherly comfort and had not expected Cassandra to visit him. In fact, he was glad that he has got a company.
"Queen Cassandra, what a pleasant surprise, Please come in," He turned around and addressed her. Even though he had never heard her voice in used in a full sentence, he could still recognise it without turning back.
"I hope I'm not disturbing you," She did not want to be with him here. The guards left the place one by one as she walked towards him. The last thing she wanted is to be alone with him right now.
"Of course not, would you like to have some tea?" He asked her, motioning her to sit. For some peculiar reason, he was just excited to talk to her. Especially after the flowers that he had given her.
"No thank you," She pursed her lips and looked around. His working chamber looked ten times huge than her father's working chamber. She was genuinely impressed at the marvellous architecture. She had read in her book that Eastern Kingdom had the best architecture, but seeing them for herself meant different.
"The chamber lives upto it's name," She blurted out, and she closed her mouth when she saw Kaydn glaring at her.
"True, but I haven't appreciated it that much," Kaydn remarked, reseating himself in the chair. She looked around and finally brought her mind back to the topic.
"I was wondering," She said, too afraid to continue with the next sentence. But she added anyway," Why would you want kids so early?" She asked. Kaydn chocked on his tea and coughed.
Cassandra immediately stood up and dragged herself towards him. She patted his head and searched for water, only to find Rylla's framed picture. He held her hand tight.
"What?" He asked her, mixed with hundreds of confusing emotions.
"You heard me right," She said. She wanted him to leave her hand, so she tried wiggling out of his grip, but he held it tight.
"What made you assume that?" He asked her. He couldn't risk leaving her hand, she was prone to running away from him.
"The flowers," She answered, internally panicking. It took him a minute to realise what she was trying to say, and then he left her hand.
"It had a different meaning, but surely not that one," He giggled and wondered who made her think that. She gave him a confused look and searched for answers on his face. The sky was turning cloudy, but it looked unnatural.
"What is it then?" She asked him.
"I just wanted to start over everything with you," Kaydn finally confessed.
"You have Rylla, you still have her picture," Cassandra wanted to shut her mouth and stop blurting everything. He looked over the picture and gently closed it on the table. Cassandra gaped at him, wondering what has gotten into him.
"I don't," He replied, his head straight. His eyes seemed to have no emotions, but it was a mere gesture to hide it. She bit her lips and turned to walk away, she had no response and she did not expect this at all.
"Did you ever love me?" He asked her, and she stopped midway.
"I have always loved you," She thought to herself and walked away, confused.
