I walk downstairs and outside to my mate's grave just like I do every other week. I never did find her killer. I sit down in front of her gravestone and start crying
"Baby, I failed you, I never found your killer, and now the moon goddess has mated me with Jessie; you remember her, right? I know I talked about her in the past; I'm her second chance mate. I can't help but feel guilty, I know it has been ten years, but I should be kissing you, not her; my wolf keeps pining for her, this morning when he realised he was no longer on you but on her and now he just wants to mate her, I feel more protective over here, but I feel so bad because it should be you not her. Can you ever forgive me? I know it's not my fault this happened, but if I had never brought her into the pack, it might never have happened; tell me what to do, please," I whimper out before I feel myself falling asleep.
"Oh, my poor mate, of course, I can forgive you. I worked with the moon goddess to pick you a second chance, mate; you need to accept her as your mate, mark her and mate with her. It's destined to be. Once you mate, you both will become the strongest wolves in the world and will be able to stop the big bad that is coming. I was meant to die, I was never meant to meet you, I arranged my own execution, and I am so sorry that you had to find me as it was carried out, don't find my killer, please. Be with her. That is my wish, and never feel bad" she smiles at me, touching my arm, the weak shocks startling me.
"the mate shocks are fading, as you can tell because you found her" she smiles kindly at me
"I will watch over you forever, even her and your future kids" she smiles before fading into darkness
I woke up and look around, I saw my mate for the first time since we buried her, but she was alive, happy. I close my eyes, trying to slow my breathing.
"alpha, we're home", I hear Jamie yell, giggling like a little girl; I get up and walk into the living room of the pack house to see Jamie wrapped in Tony's arm.
"How are you, kiddo," I ask Tony. He smiles
"like I'm ready to take over my father's position as beta" he smiles at me
"we will see about that" I smile, looking over at Jessie, who has twenty bags in front of her feet
"how much did you spend?" I question, eyeing the bags, a lot of which hold makeup and clothes; it is not like she needs any of them. She already has a lot.
"eh", she giggles out, making me realise she has spent over her limit
"she spent two thousand three hundred dollars, alpha", her best friend Amber giggles before she runs off to join Tony and Jamie
"sorry" she looks down at the ground, and I rush over, grabbing her chin with my finger. The sparks getting stronger by the minute I hear her intake of breath, and I smile
"I think we need to work out a plan tonight; I need you", she sighs out, pushing herself into me, pretending its a hug, but I know full well it's because her wolf needs my touch
"you will have to make it up to me with your spending", I sigh out she just nods
"We have dinner with the beta family in a few hours; want to go discuss it while you unpack?" I question. She nods happily, grabbing all her bags; I never know how she can carry them all. She runs up the stairs taking them two at a time until she reaches her room. The packed house is three stories tall with over a hundred bedrooms; the first story is like a typical house, the second floor has seventy bedrooms, fifty of which are for guests, and the 3rd floor is mine. The betas family rooms, our living room, and the head worry rooms along with mine and the betas office. The rest of the pack live in their own houses.
I watch as Jessie moves around her room
"you know we will have to move all this stuff into mine, right?" I question her looking at how much stuff she has in here.
"I was hoping to keep this as my beauty room and storage for my stuff so that I only have to put my clothing in yours", she smiles. I just nod at the idea, not minding still having a large amount of space in my room; we also have five bedrooms in my part of the wing for our kids, while it seems weird to have kids with a sixteen-year-old especially since I am now thirty in the werewolf community it isn't that weird. I don't expect five kids, but better safe than sorry. the only reason we have five is that my great, great, great grandfather, the first wolf to claim this territory and build the house, had six kids, a set of twins, a group of triplets and a singleton.
"right, so how are we going to do this?" she questions as she hangs her new clothing up.
"I have no idea; maybe if someone else in the pack adopts you officially, it won't be so weird", I laugh. She turns on her heels and pounces at me, making me fall into my back.
"you're a genius, Austin did say he would do anything to help us, and he raised me just as much as you did; I will technically be the betas kid turned luna, and the alpha and beta training at this point is the same. You are alpha and overhold all the adoptions within this city since it's all wolves so that we can date it for yesterday, so if people ask, we can say I was adopted yesterday as an early present," she starts rambling. Still, I decide to shut her up by kissing her beautiful plump lips.
"aye, no fair", she states, growling
"we will draw up the papers and ask at dinner" I smile at her she nods excitingly.
"does that mean you won't reject me?" she questions, and I take a deep breath
"I would never reject you; besides, I talked with my first mate, and she picked us to be together" I smile at her. All she does is make a high pitch squeal.
"get out I need to get ready for dinner is in thirty minutes", she laughs. I look at the bedside locker and nod, quickly getting up and rushing to my office to draw up the papers.
I groan out; I have ten minutes to get ready. I rush into my bedroom, and all I hear is the sound of makeup being chucked around; so much for her wanting her makeup space to look good, I laugh out.
I look in the mirror, happy with my skinny black jeans and a black wife beater. I walk to Jessie's door, and before I can even knock, she opens her door; her blonde hair is in a messy bun, and she's in a pretty mid-thigh purple dress that crosses over to show a gap in the dress.
"you look beautiful", I smile, lifting the adoption papers in my hand so she can see they are ready to go.
"you don't look too bad yourself", she smiles
We walk downstairs next to each other, our hands brushing against each other, and walk into the dining room, which I booked out just for her birthday. Austin, Casey, and Tony sit at the table waiting for us.
"wheres Jamie," she asks tony
"she isn't feeling too well; I think she's pregnant with my pup" he smiles at us we all smile at him.
"you guys are the cutest mates ever" Jessie smiles out
"your mate, and you will be" he smiles back at her, making both Austin and Jessie look at me
"Jessie", I state. She turns away from me and faces them
"Austin, you still willing to do anything" she smiles lovingly at him. He just nods; I watch Casey's and Tony's reactions to see if they know, but they look shocked and interested in what's happening.
"Well, I got James to fix some adoption paperwork up", she smiles, pausing as if she can hear my breathing rigid from her saying my name.
"They are dated from yesterday, and I was kind of hoping you would adopt me", she finishes making Casey look at her mate in question.
"Casey dear, you okay with this?" he asks her. She smiles at us
"I want to know why we are adopting her and not James, but if this is what she wants, I would be happy too; we both know I was hoping to get pregnant with a girl after Tony, and it never happened", she smiled.
"sign here, and I will tell you" she smiles, grabbing the papers out of my hand with the pen and sliding it across to them; they quickly sign and send it back to us, handing it back to James. I smile, nodding.
"James can't adopt me", she states, smiling at me
"And why not," Tony asks, taking the words out of his mother's mouth
"Because he's my second chance, mate", she smiles; Tony looks at us in shock while Casey turns to her mate to find out if he knows.
"Wow, congratulations, alpha, luna" Tony smiles, bowing his head at us
"don't you mean sister," she asks, smirking
"remember you adopted me yesterday, not today", she smiles. Everyone nods in understanding, and we start eating the cheese pasta and chocolate cake.
