Chapter 2 - Section 1: Missing Forces II

Lunch passed us by as everyone once again took part in gorging themselves on the food produced from my extra skill, but I did whip us a couple of quick side dishes myself since I still needed to grind the exp I needed to level up my cooking skill so that I can recreate more complex earth dishes, especially if I can find a way to get ingredients and recipes via my skill.

The conversation topic of course revolved around the disturbance that happened with the trio who acosted me at the forge.

From the discussion it was revealed to me that if this were a formal invitation by the guild then I would have no choice since if they were to revoke my card it would also prevent me from getting a new card in the future even if I changed my appearance since it was tied to my magical signature sort of a form of mana DNA that is unique to every person.

And while the merchants guild works for the most part the adventurers guild opens more doors and access. We'd need to travel to the capital to get access to other guilds that could offer the same, but even then I don't want to join the mercenary guild or the protectors, it's a man from Earth's dream to become an adventurer.

So after some more time had passed, I packed up a simple messenger bag with the basics, while setting up a quick change slot so I could become armed and armoured in an instant if anything went wrong, as for my summon, I opted to leave Kurama behind since while powerful possibly even more so than myself, she appeared like a little demi-human girl so best not to put her in the middle of that.

Leaving the comfort of home behind I made my way into what could only be described as enemy territory.

Along the way other adventurers were glaring at me, be it the orders of that man or their jealousy about my windfall of earnings from selling potions, salves, and the like during the stampede, or maybe the lowest who were jealous of me and her travelling around with Raisa, and Prim, plus Kurama and Ruby rounding out the cute factor of our party.

When I entered the guild and walked up to reception, the receptionist there quickly left her post and ran to the back.

No one took her place so I just stood there at the counter.

"Had the guts to show up scumbag?"

"Damn it that's gonna cost me 20! why couldn't you be as cowardly as you look?"

The pair of bodyguards from before had approached me from behind one complaining about losing a bet with the other about whether I would show up or not.

The other meanwhile took to provoking me even further than he did earlier.

I opted instead to ignore the pair entirely and merely wait to speak with the receptionist upon her return, to fulfill the check-in request, and file a complaint if possible as well.

The pair didn't like my choice however and both landed one of their giant hands each atop my shoulders.

"Brother, it seems we're being ignored, guess we should do something to make him pay attention?"

"Oh I'd like that I'll get my 20's worth outta his hide"

Sensing the growing threat behind him, Satou reacted quickly bowing his head down and allowing both guards' fists to whiff through the air formerly occupied by his head, unable to move his torso due to their still grasping grip, he kicked off the floor with his feet swinging his body forward till his feet landed on the side of the receptionist's desk, the wood it was made of creaked loudly, before once again he kicked off, this time launching himself towards both of the belligerent men.

Their arms fully outstretched and having already lost balance from their earlier missed punches, both were forced back and due to their stance tumbled backwards each grasping hand coming loose and reverse haymaker into the cheeks of the other.

Sighting this he performs a simple backflip as his momentum is killed and passed on to them through transitive properties.

That's smarts a double haymaker bitch slap from the bozo brothers, rather perfect if I do say so myself.

As the two were groaning in pain and frustration on the floor now rubbing their faces, the receptionist returned with the suit man in tow, but upon seeing the state of the room she'd been in moments before her face paled, but the suit man merely clicked his tongue not impressed.

"So you showed... We'll talk in back"

"No. I can here as requested but I refuse to go anywhere, where I can be assaulted further"

"Assaulted" arching his eyebrow slightly as he surveyed the room once again. "From what I can see here these upstanding gentlemen were the ones attacked by you, you'd be lucky if we didn't penalize you for this conduct or even get the guards involved in this case"

A cheap threat when aimed at me.

"All the more still they start it, it's a shame this guild can't control its staff better but I guess that's what one expects when..."

Trailing off before saying it, but the Suit man was enraged that his management was being called into question publically at that.

"Bastard! Fine then, give him the request, and YOU. WILL. COMPLETE. IT!"

The pale-faced receptionist slid the request form across the desk, I took a quick glance down before smiling.

"Perfect, I already planned to go that way, I won't be much to clean up some trash already there, and maybe the opportunity to clean up more on the way as well"

Taking his guild card out and tapping it on the form accepting the request before making a hasty escape.

His thinly veiled insult still hanging in the air as the room remained silent enough to allow a pin drop to be heard.

All were currently ruminating on the fact that this solo adventurer had just called out every adventurer present along with the suited man stating he'd take care of them just as easily as the request they'd given to him.

Sure it was a cocky move, but when I leave this town I'd rather not like to do it while constantly having to check my back.

The reviewing of the request now transcribed in my guild card it was a request to search for adventurers and staff who'd gone missing from the field of battle against the monster stampede and to check out a local bandit group held up in the mountains as the primary suspects.

Having safely made his way home he informed the party and preparations were double-timed to leave sooner in an attempt to lessen the suffering of those captured by finding and hopefully freeing them if even a moment sooner.

They started packing everything up before Satou stored it all in his skills storage, as if they'd never existed left the town leaving little trace of their presence behind except a perfectly cleaned-out abandoned shop, and a busy temple which worshiped the gods of another world with new priests having sprung up from the local populace trained by Heracles.
