A New Hero is Revealed

After the last noise we heard, it went quiet but we didn't trust it one bit. There was something out there that was slowly making its way towards us.

Flash!!!

Before I could even react, a bright flash of light appeared and I could hear someone rushing towards us. But I was now blinded by this flash so how was I supposed to counter?

"Wait, you aren't mobs." A deep voice says.

After a few moments, the blindness went away and we were met with a new face.

"Another hero, who might you be?" Kallista questions while her sword is already up against his neck.

"Fast, So you're a hero too. Alright, my name is Onyx." He says as he lowers his sword.

A man with a scruffy beard, a brown haired faux hawk haircut, paladin like armor, and yellow eyes.

"I am, these are also people who are trying to rid this world of the gates." Kallista mentions while looking back at us.

She lowered her sword after a few seconds and backed up towards us. At least she's cautious, but that's some crazy luck to run into another hero.

"Interesting. I can see that a system user is amongst you. You trust him?" Onyx questions while he glared at me.

"Yes, He's saved my life a few times and defeated the first gate boss." Kallista responds with a positive tone.

After a second he had taken a seat on one of the broken logs. It seems he doesn't know how to react to what Kallista just said to him.

"I expected a hero to have done that. I thought most system users were already corrupted." Onyx says while scratching his chin.

"No, I want to save my world." I speak up while putting my sword back in my inventory.

"And who are you?" Onyx asks with a curious expression on his face.

"My name is Sevarian." I answer with confidence.

I can't seem weak since this is yet another hero that could join my side or at least become a friend of mine. This party is getting pretty big though, so I hope he just becomes a friend and we go out separate ways for the time being.

"I got my eye on you, but we do need to work together." Onyx says while pulling out a map.

It seems he had been given a map with all the potential gate locations, that makes me wonder why Kallista didn't show us that. Or did she not have one?

There's a lot I still have to figure out, but now that things have calmed down, I can read that book.

So I took a seat and pulled the book out, but before I could even read the first page I had received a notification.

~New Spell Learned.

Are you telling me that I don't have to actually read these books? Then all of a sudden I was hit with a wave of knowledge about the spell that I just received.

It was a fire spell that had 3 different variations that could be used. I could definitely get use to this, but does that mean I'll finally be able to use my mana.

~System update available. Rebooting system. 1 Min.

And now a system update on top of that whole thing? Shit, hopefully it's a good update since I haven't gotten one of those in awhile.

I know the last one actually implemented stat bonuses which turned out to be an amazing thing to have. They always help with systems.

~Reboot complete.

That's when before my eyes was two new status icons, one which seemed to represent my health, and one to represent my mana.

~Bonus, health is automatically scaled up to current stats. Here is how it'll show.

I have health? Holy shit this just got a lot more intense than I expected it to be. At least I have a display so I can watch it accordingly.

"Sevy here, eat this." Rika says while moving a piece of chicken towards my mouth.

Without saying anything I just ate the piece she was feeding me. This was definitely not something she ever did before so why did she do it all of a sudden.

"Thank you." I reply afterwards.

"We got to make sure to stay hydrated and make sure to eat when we have to." Rika says with a worried tone.

"Yeah, you're right." I reply while giving her a small smile.

I've rarely eaten a lot these last few days so I guess it's understandable for her to be worried about me. Especially when I use so much strength when fighting nowadays.

I was lucky to have everyone here though since Rika did a lot of hunting with ease. This lead to us having food most of the time since she was a good hunter.

"She is right. But it seems we finally have a moment to rest. How are we doing this?" Elizabeth asks while looking around at each member.

"Me and Sevarian will take first watch." Rika answers while standing up.

"Uh, yeah." I agree as I stand up too.

I didn't mind taking first watch since I usually let the others go first if they wanted to. It only seems fair for me to go first, but I'm surprised by Rika wanting to stay up with me.

Something weird is going on and I'm not sure what to make of it just yet.

"Alright, sounds good to me." Elizabeth and Kallista say.

Onyx already had dozed off somewhere away from the group, which was logical since he doesn't know all of us too well. Guess it's time for the first watch of the night.
