"Hi my name is Tyler. I'm a relatively normal fourteen year-old kid who wants to mind my own business. For some reason, I find myself in the middle of a wedding. Everyone is wearing their fancy suits while I'm just wearing my pajamas. How the hell did I end up here? Well it's a long story. We'll have to go back a week ago to a convenience store."
It's a tradition for Tyler to stop by a convenience store to buy some banana chips before he heads home. It is his favorite after all. As he grabbed a pack, Tyler noticed another hand grabbing it as well.
"Hey buddy, I grabbed it first."
"What do you mean, I've had my sight on it since I entered the store."
Things are getting a bit heated. Tyler and the other guy were fighting for it like their lives depended on it. There's only one chip remaining and Tyler was determined to get it whatever it takes. The other guy realized this, so he said something.
"How about this, I'll give you a free invitation to my wedding. In exchange, you'll be giving me that chip."
"Wedding? The hell do I care about your wedding! Why would I accept your offer? What would I gain from attending such a pretentious event?"
"There's a buffet in it."
"Alright bet."
"Cool. Thanks and see you then."
That's all Tyler needed to hear. He was blinded by the offer that it took him a minute before he realized what just happened.
"Wait a minute... Hey!"
Another minute was needed before he had another realization. He could just grab another pack of chips. It's not like there's only one brand left to begin with. As Tyler brings the banana chip to the cashier, he makes an attempt to hijack my place as the narrator in the story in order to tell something to the audience.
"Ayo, Tyler here! I just wanna apologize for lying. That's definitely not a long story but you get the point. In conclusion, I don't really care for the wedding. I'm just here for the exquisite food. I don't even know who's getting married to be honest. I think he goes by the name Marcus Schitstein or something? I don't really know. Free food babyyy and that's all I care about, let's goooo!!"
We're now back to the present day where the wedding was occurring. The wedding was going way too long that it became too unbearable for the impatient Tyler.
"They should get to the part where they smooch in front of everyone and that "I do" thingie. Let's not waste any precious time right folks and let's head to the reception area now."
Of course they won't follow Tyler's suggestion despite him getting bored. He tried looking at everyone and their cowboy and sherlock holmes suits instead and it was then, he noticed someone. Someone oddly familiar.
"Wait, isn't that who I think it is?"
Setting aside what Tyler saw, everyone already moved on to the reception area which takes place in this fancy hotel. This is what Tyler signed up for. He went in line to get the salad because he heard it tastes great. However, Tyler didn't realize that it was a kilometer line. It took him twenty minutes before he could get his turn. He wanted to get the other appetizers too but then realized, he'll have to fall in a kilometer line again would be tedious.
"Dammit, how many people did this guy invite for his wedding?"
As Tyler was looking for a table, he saw the oddly familiar person again. Tyler went near them to get a closer look and was surprised at what he learned. It was actually Matilda...
"Oh hi Matilda, do you remember me?"
"Tyler? What are you doing here?" a shocked Matilda replied.
"Same question. I haven't seen you since a decade ago."
"That was just five years ago Tyler. Honestly, why are you here?"
"I'm just here for the food."
Matilda was Tyler's childhood friend. She's also wearing some pajama outfit during the wedding. For some reason, she kept looking at the surroundings while she was eating. Just as Tyler was about to finally eat the salad he patiently waited for twenty minutes, Matilda called his attention.
"Let's go!"
"Let's go? As in right now? I haven't even taken a bite of the salad yet-"
She grabbed Tyler's hand as they headed towards the exit. Despite being clueless, Tyler decided to go along.
As the two went out, they were greeted by six guards who began chasing them. Tyler and Matilda started to make a run from it.
"What in the world is going on?" Tyler asked.
"It's a long story but you really weren't supposed to be here you know? Let's just escape through the stairs" Matilda replied.
They reached the stairs of the multiple-stories building they're currently on. The guards were also closing in.
"I have an idea but you might not like it," Matilda said.
She suddenly pushed Tyler with no hesitation. Tyler thought he was going to fall but instead, he got a speed boost. The two managed to outrun the guards because of it.
As they reached the exit of the building, it was time to part ways. There's a bit of sadness growing inside of Tyler.
"It's been a long while. When will I see you again?" Tyler asked.
"I just have to get this notebook and we could meet again ok?" Matilda answered.
"But how? Do you have my numbers? I don't remember giving you my numbers. Wait, I don't even know my numbers."
Long before Tyler knew, she's already gone. Tyler was left with more questions.
"What notebook is she referring to? I could get her a notebook anytime. What does she mean by that? I don't know. What I do know though is I doubt I'll ever see her again. That sucks."
On his way home, Tyler passed by his old alma mater. It's the same elementary school where he and Matilda attended. He also passed by a hooded homeless guy. Realizing he doesn't have any coins with him, Tyler gave the homeless guy a pair of his nails and his single baby tooth that he had been keeping with him since he was five instead.
The homeless guy in fact wasn't actually homeless. He was just chilling on the side of the road according to him. He then just started talking about something.
"Be wary of yellow vans, kid. If you see one, better start running away because they're dangerous. Most importantly, whatever you do, don't attempt to steal the notebook from Mr. Adam's office. Don't even think about it."
Tyler was again, for the second time within the day, left confused.
"What the hell is he talking about? How does he know my teacher's name?"
Before Tyler could say anything, the guy just disappeared.
"Why are people suddenly disappearing right before my eyes? Are they getting abducted by aliens? Is this a story about alien abductions? Either way, what a weird guy."
Tyler resumed walking his way home. The words of the weird guy were continuously echoing to him. Tyler then remembered he kept hearing rumors that Mr. Adam's notebook contains some dark secrets.
"Damn you weird guy, now I wanna know the content of that notebook."
Curiosity couldn't keep Tyler in check as he decided to make a detour and head to his present school. No one was inside yet the gates were open so he went in. Tyler successfully retrieved the notebook from Mr. Adam's office and quickly headed towards the exit. Just as he's getting close to it, he hears a yellow van entering the school's parking lot.
"Didn't that crazy hobo warn me about that exactly? Hmm… he's probably trippin" Tyler said to himself as he ignored the warning prior.
Suddenly, some big ass guys in space suits came out of the van. There's also this dude whose head is shaped like a cone.
"He must be the leader"
Everything was fine until they saw Tyler. All of a sudden, they began chasing him.
"Can confirm, the weird guy was right. They're indeed dangerous fellas"
Tyler ran to the nearest building, on the highest floor, in order to hide in a random classroom. As soon as he got there, he barricaded the doors. Meanwhile, the van guys were also closing in on the building. Tyler tried taking a look at the window. The leader was holding a revolver. He quickly spotted Tyler from the window.
"What kind of eagle vision does this dude have??"
The cone-headed leader guy began shooting in Tyler's direction. Instead of bullets, stones were coming out of the revolver. Not only did he have eagle eyes, the dude also had a godlike aim as he managed to hit the window. Thankfully, Tyler was able to dock in the nick of time.
Running out of options, he felt like a cornered rabbit in this situation. How could he escape from this mess? Luckily, a eureka moment just popped in Tyler's head. He suddenly remembered this hidden exit of the building where some of his classmates would use for cutting.
"Hey don't look at me, I definitely didn't tried it! Well… even if I did, it's not a pleasant option. That exit is full of mosquitoes and dog shit which were scattered on the floor. I don't wanna be caught by these guys yet I don't wanna go through that exit too."
The van guys are one floor away from where Tyler is hiding, something he is aware of. Left with no choice, he made a firm decision.
"You can do this Tyler, you're the man!" Tyler shouted these words as he looked at his reflection from the window.
That was an oopsie on his part however. That action gave away his location to the enemies. With no hesitation, Tyler ran through the hidden exit. Tyler is now covered in mosquito bites and dog shit in his shoes but hey, at least he got the notebook. Plus he's also safe, which is the most important part.
No yellow van in sight as Tyler head towards home. He quickly showered himself in alcohol due to the mosquito bites. Lots of questions are clouding his mind at that moment.
"Thank heavens I decided to wear a mask, otherwise they would've identified me... In the first place, who are the van guys and why were they following me? What is up with Matilda? Why does socks taste shit when you put them in bread? Most importantly, what's exactly the content of the notebook? Well, that's a question for another day…"
