Chapter 5a: Locke

Locke looked boy staring at the scene with a face that no 10-year-old should make but then again, his master was not some brat. He felt pity for a child so young should be devoid of his childhood but this was the path the child chose unlike many whose path was chosen for them a path of misery. Not that his boss wanted his pity, his master wanted his loyalty and his obedience and that is what he would give if the boy goes to hell, he was certain Mercer would gladly follow him. After all, in this cruel and unjust world, this boy had been their sword of justice. When the boy had picked him up from the street and offered him a chance of redemption and revenge, he had thought the young noble would know that the one he had offended was of noble birth and cower away since there was little, he could offer in lieu of the little noble's help.

Locke had never dreamed that the little noble instead gave him the strength to avenge his wife and unborn child. He swore his sword which was wet with the bastard's blood to Leylin From that day till his last day. He knew little of Mercer but the one thing he did not doubt was his loyalty to their master. When mercer and Locke left the bastard's castle, they took everything that was not bolted down and set fire to everything else. Delvin was waiting disguised as a merchant leading a trading caravan only that the chest full of goods was empty, they moved all the goods into the chests and burned all the evidence.

The wealth was used to set up Red Eagles Traders a trading company, specializing in herbs and poultices. The young master introduced them to Angela a herbalist who ensured that they always had better and unique products. They had been left to their devices for the past year. Angela managed the supply, Delvin the finances and personnel while he and mercer provided the muscle. With the bastard's treasury and a monopoly on products they grew fast and built quite a robust network in this south of the continent. Gilead had become their headquarters.

So, it continued until the young master summoned them. They were shocked to hear that young master Leylin wanted to travel but their Lord's will is their command.
