…and then…there was light…
"Argh…that sucks!"
I groaned as I felt some pain in my head. I had previously used the Skeleton Key to have sealed off the majority of my bodies pain receptors or at least dulled them down to the point I can be stabbed and only wince.
This immediately allowed me to determine that this pain was affecting my soul or my mind was drawn into a dream realm.
I was blinded by the light…but…there wasn't any?
Weird…it was so bright i reflexively closed my eyes a few moments ago, but now im just standing in a pitch black void?
I felt myself stand up, and that was the only way I knew I was standing since I couldn't see…like really. Everything was pitch black, even black is an understatement to describe this void.
But then…
Off in the distance I spotted a glimmer of a faint light.
I wasn't able to use my enhanced sight since that was something I had 'unlocked' for my physical & biological body which must still be at the Wayshrine of Illumination.
Slowly yet cautiously I made my way towards the light, as that was all I could do.
As I got closer my eyes widened in confusion at what I saw, but it was only until I stood face to face with what was before me that I could confirm what it is.
This is…
"My notes on Stem and Cancer cell research? I don't understand…how is this related to the Test of Illumination?"
There were five Wayshrines along the Initiates Pilgrimage to the Inner Sanctuary.
Illumination
Sight
Enlightenment
Resolution
Radiance
The Wayshrine of Illumination was meant to signify the 'absence of light' in Gelebor's own words.
That's why the Wayshrine of Illumination was located within Darkfall Passage.
But what I am doing was something Akatosh instructed me to do at each Wayshrine as a test. So what the Hell am I supposed to do here?
I just continued to stare at the white table with the glowing notes laid before me.
These notes was one of my primary plans for ensuring my survival against many potential life threatening situations.
Cancer Cells are a little obvious by their name. They are the unstable and continuous division of cells that operate uncontrollably.
Stem Cells are more special as they have the unique ability to become ANY other cell in the body.
Now pair these two together if they can be properly developed…and one can effectively become immortal, biologically that is.
I was never able to continue my development of this subject since I had no way to gain Biokinesis / Biology Manipulation.
I just hadn't become proficient enough to even begin down this path.
I could have used the Skeleton Key to 'lock' and 'unlock' certain aspects of these cellular types, but it was too difficult I gave up.
Unless through magical means that would destroy my soul, I would have become Immortal that not even disintegration of my entire body would have killed me, and within less than 3 seconds I would have fully regenerated from a pile of ashes.
That was how powerful this could have been, but alas it was a failure so I turned to developing my currently forged Aetherium gear instead of wasting time on something that would get me nowhere.
My ears perked up at the sound of multiple tearing sounds.
Looking around me I saw many spatial tears, is what I could describe them as, opened up revealing many images through them.
My eyes widened in surprise as I realised these were my own memories from when I was in the Imperial City.
"Please don't!"
"I beg you, spare me!"
"NOOOOO!!!!!"
"STOP ARGGGHHHH!!!!!!"
One voice after another, each one different ranging from males to females, and even their appearances were shown.
These are…the victims I subjected to my many horrific experiments.
I don't regret what I had done.
I had kidnapped and abducted many dozens of people. From Dunmer to Khajiit to Altmer and Bosmer, Imperials and Bretons.
All of them…were evil corrupt fuckers!
The lot of them!
I saw the horrendous things they had done, i still had a moral code, I was no hero, no grand saviour.
However, that didn't mean I can just stand by and watch a child be raped or murdered and enslaved by them!
Corrupt politicians and nobles, they make me sick, and so I hunted down the perfect targets after much thorough research and investigation into their backgrounds.
This was before and after I had gone to Elsweyr.
Every time I made sure that no one, especially Elika would not know nor was present or saw me drag their bodies back to my home's basement where I conducted these experiments.
Wind, Water, Earth and Light. These were the four elements of this world.
Light can also be the element of Fire.
But…there was a fifth element which it had kept itself a secret…the element of Flesh.
This was my route to uncovering biokinesis and achieving biological immortality.
But all the tests failed and I often found myself having uneasy thoughts of all the test subjects i had killed and disposed of the bodies.
Test subjects, that appear before me now as they howl their screams of pain and anguish that I still remember to this day.
I did my best to ignore their voices and try to figure out what this Test of Illumination is supposed to be but I simply couldn't. They were so damn noisy that I-
"Siv?"
A gentle voice spoke from behind me and the voices from the spatial tears ceased.
The silence was deafening.
Turning around I saw a blonde haired girl with blue eyes, wearing clothes that were made with beautiful high quality materials.
"Elika?"
"Siv, is-are you actually here?" The Elika before me spoke as she slowly reached her hand out as she walked towards me.
I didn't react immediately, I don't even know if this Elika is an illusion for the test or may be the actual Elika's soul transported here.
It won't be a surprise if that was the case.
*crack*
My ears twitched immediately upon hearing that sound, without even a split second passing i had pushed forwards and propelled myself towards Elika.
Time slowed as I saw the ground beneath her shatter, and the once dark void we were in suddenly became bright.
The surroundings became like a baren desolate wasteland and Elika was on the edge of the cliff more than 30 meters away!
She was standing 5 foot away just now! How?! My eyes never left her! I never even blinked!!!
"Aaaaahhhh!!!" Elika screamed as she processed what happened and had fallen as the ground beneath her crumbled.
She was fortunate enough to have been able to grab the ledge of the cliff in time.
"Siv!!!"
"I'm coming! Hold o-Argh!"
I groaned as my face smashed against an invisible barrier.
I punched the invisible wall before me trying to break through and figure out what the heck is happening!
My ears twitched yet again as i heard a low humming sound from behind me.
I reflexively turned around, and 30 meters away from me, there was a small figure I recognised.
In the year 2014 in my old world, one of the lead writers Michael Kirkbride had left the Bethesda game studies.
As he did he write and published many pieces of lore and content about the Elder Scrolls verse.
One of which is a graphic novel called "C0DA" which was a fanfiction yet original ending of the Elder Scrolls verse.
The Godhead would awaken and the dream would end.
But…a new Universe, a new Elder Scrolls verse would be created by a being that being would become a new Godhead to replace the old one and create a new Dream.
And that being was a child born by the union of the Dunmer main character of "C0DA" and a female Vivec.
That very being was what lay before my eyes a distance away from me…
"Nu Man…" I muttered in shock.
Meanwhile, the screams of Elika was completely silent to my ears as I was left motionless, simply ignoring and having forgotten everything, as I stared at the being of which I muttered the name of.
