"Lina the manager sent for you some few minutes ago. Hurry up and go answer him before he gets mad at you for being late".
"This is my first time of coming to work this late and am sanctioned for it. I think Emily was right about me been under a spell. God deliver your daughter from this spell because I can't do it on my own." Lina said inaudibly almost at the verge of tearing. "Let me go find out why he sent for me." She replied the messenger.
She called the lift and took it to the fifth floor where the Manager's office was located. She knocked on the door and waited for a response from her manager.
"Come in." The manager answered from her seat. Elina opened the door and walked into his office. The manager was a young and handsome Australian in his early 30's. Thirty two years to be specific. He had a little eye defect and to that effect, always wore a photo chromic glass to correct it.
"Good evening sirs. Sir please you sent for me. Am sorry I was late, I went somewhere and I didn't notice it was late. I promise it won't repeat it self again." Lina pleaded oblivious of who was seated in the office.
"Lina please sit. I didn't call you for your lateness. I didn't even notice it until you made mention of it just now."
Meanwhile Elina who just assumed her seat turned to behold the 'Almighty'' Rick Romano sitting next to her and extending his hand to Elina for a hand shake. A bewildered Elina returned the handshake.
"Lina meet Rick, Rick meet Lina, one of my best staffs here. She is down to earth and always ready to serve the customers. Having he is one of the best things ever. I am even scared of loosing her when she would be with her secondary education and proceeds to college. On a normal day, Lina would have blushed on hearing the compliment abnd probably thanked her manager but today was a different day. It was a dream come true for Elina. She finally met the man of her dreams and is even sitting next to him. The next thing she saw was herself on a beautiful white gown which fliwed and covered the floor with tiny pieces of diamonds like that of Kat's in the movie 'Marry me'. She walked down the aisle hand in hand with Rick while the crowd in the five thousand capacity church cheered at her. She couldn't believe that all that was happening. She could pick little word from the crowd in the voices. One of the statement from a lady made her laugh too hard. The lady said she wasn't worth the Greek God afterall she wasn't even classy and was only after the influence. She muttered 'jealousy' under her breath. The time she was waiting for finally came. The exchange of the vows. Elina Roberts do you take Rick Romano as your lawfully wedded husband. She was staring at his beautiful face hoping earnestly for the viws to end so they could kiss. The priest called out to her again but this time around it was louder.
"Elina Roberts". Oops no it can't be Elina had been imagining all of that in her head no one really happened. She was still seated next to Rick and the manager was calling her to bring her out of her thoughts as she have been lost and didn't even contribute a bit to the conversation.
"Am so sorry sir please can I use the rest room am pressed." Elina tried to escape to save herself the shame.
"You are free to and please get us two glasses of wine."
"Thank you sir." Elina said feeling Soo nervous and hurrying to the door.
"She seems so naive." Rick said when the door jammed.
"Is just one of those things. I guess she rushed in to work from somewhere. It is all obvious from the way she is dressed."
"If you say so. I guess she will be one of those serving at the event."
"Yes. That was why I called her to introduce you to her formally. She will be the head and will oversee the other servants. I just trust her with the service."
"Wow she must be good then."
"Good is an understatement, she is the best staffs we have around here. She has never been late to work except for today and she was quick to apologize. I wonder what is messing her mood up today. She just seems lost."
"I wonder too." Rick said letting out a dangerous smile.
"What's with the smile."
"Nothing."
"I hope you are not planning to add her to your list of numerous concubines."
"Please let me correct that impression, I don't have any concubine don't complicate things."
"You do without noticing. Right from our days in high school, you attract girls both the ones who were in higher forms and till date, nothing has changed. But you see Lina, she is... A knock on the door cut him short. Lina who have been having a tough time trying to calm her nerves walked in with a tray in her hand trembling a bit.
"Here is your glass sir she served the manager still trying to maintain her orderliness and here is yours sir." It would have all gone fine not until Rick shot her a glance. Man that glance was so powerful you can't believe what happened. She lost hold of the glass, it fell and shattered on the floor with the content pouring on Rick's suit.
"Is this how you serve here?" Rick who was provoked fired at her.
"Am sorry sir I lost hold of the glass and it fell off my hands."
"Keep your explanations to yourself am out of here." An angry Rick said and left the office.
"Lina are you sure you are okay, because you don't seem as though at first you were lost and now you broke a glass of wine and poured the content on him. What if it had injured him? Come to think of it why aren't you dressed in your work clothes?"
"Am sorry sir I rushed down from somewhere and as for this incident I promise it won't repeat itself."
"I hope so whatever it is you are going through try and get over it. You can take I few days off from work I won't mind."
"Thank you sir let me get the cleaners to clean up this mess."
"Please do."
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX. " Emily am doomed. Can you believe I had the opportunity to meet the tycoon, I even sat next to him then my mind started playing tricks with me. I think I am beginning to believe am under a spell. He casted a spell on me." Elina cried to Emily that night recounting the days event to her she didn't even care to leave it for the next day.
"Am so sorry. Your boss woukd be so mad at you. I think you need a break perhaps a week break to get your mind off this. You need to relax, work on yourself. You are more than all these you are doing. Crying over a guy who didn't know you exist until today. He might have even forgotten what you look like by now."
"Emily that's too harsh. Am really pained at what happened today. An event I would have utilized to the best of my ability. I would have even told him of my intentions to be a staff in his empire after school. Now he wouldn't even give me a listening ear. He will think am always careless."
"It is okay babe, wipe your tears just take a week off from work we will sought this out." Emily said trying to comfort her while wiping our tears.
"I will do just that tomorrow let me prepare my mind for our forthcoming graduation ceremony."
"Talking about graduation, I just added something to my closet." Emily said walking towards her closet. "Ta-da, behold my gown for the dinner night after the ceremony." Elina was bewildered at the outfit. It was a gorgeous lilac sleeveless gown with beautiful silver stones scattered all around it to bring out the beauty.
"Wow it's a beauty. I am already imagining how you will look at the party. I can't wait for this party. I will do my own shopping on Friday evening. I think this break will do me good." Lina said coming out of her previously sad mood.
"My dress casted a better spell on you." Emily said giggling. Elina joined her and they both made fun out of the little joke, laughing out the bad mood that once rented the atmosphere.
