Heated negotiations

*Morpheus pov*

Staring at the goblin council I had to resist the urge to roll my eyes, yes some of them were very old but, wise? Shouldn't that be a criteria for this?

Blix really?

"Morpheus, you have been invited here today to speak your piece, I suggest you use your time wisely," Grommash said while a sharp smile played across his face

I leaned back into my chair getting comfortable, I know how to negotiate with goblins, and unfortunately, it is very different than negotiating with humans.

My eyes narrowed slightly seeing Blix whisper something to the goblin on his right, "Now now, blix don't be shy share with the class, will you?" I said a mocking smile on my face

I first need to deal with this issue before I can really get into the broader discussion. Blix bared his sharp teeth, "I was saying I don't understand why we are listening to a known liar like you," he bit back

I shrugged, "Well, I could say the same thing about you, how is it you are sitting on that high chair? If I remember correctly your family committed some heavy crimes," I replied a small smile playing on my lips

You see in goblin courts such as this they thrive on one single aspect, every man for themself. If you can't defend yourself in verbal discussions then you will be seen as weak, a coward, a goblin that's only worth a blade.

Blix sneered, "We were cleared of those crimes after finding out you were the one to put those ideas into my son's head," his reply was swift and many of the council seemed to nod along

I scoffed, "I was the one? Wasn't it your family who was planning a coup before I even made it to the scene? Wasn't it your family who trained your son to be a king, a ruler? I stopped the coup, I was the one who prevented your family from killing off the Royal bloodline, and yet you sit on your high chair acting as if it was all my plan? For what would I have gained Blix? I'm surprised the council trusts you with a knut much less a seat upon the high table," I could tell my words brought back so old memories for the old stubborn goblins sitting above me

I fought my smile and continued before Blix could interject, "Is that why you are fighting so hard for the goblins to ally against me, Did they promise you the seat of the King? I would have thought you knew better than to trust them, after all at least we wizards treat you with a modicum of respect, yeah Britain is full of bigots and all of that nonsense but, but remember this those so-called 'high races' see you as nothing but fodder, slaves, they will kill you in a heartbeat after the war is over, place shackles around your wrist. If you ally with me, the only direction you can possibly go is up," I saw some council members mull over my words

A goblin beside Blix the very same one he whispered to in the beginning bounded his armrest, "up? UP? How dare you spit out those words wizard! We remember those very same honeyed words last time, and look where that got us!" he snarled

I slammed my hand on the table, "IT GOT YOU A KINGDOM!" I yelled back I was tired of them acting like all I did was lie okay to be fair I did over-promise and lie a fair bit but, I didn't completely lie

"You lived in tunnels fighting against the wizards day in and day out, a kingdom smaller than this castle, and yet you think I didn't deliver what I promised? Goblins now control every wizard's money, and Gringotts is worldwide. You have a kingdom to grow your youth, you have more control over the wizards than you ever have had before, and yet you sit here and tell me I lied? listen here young one I MADE you this kingdom and I can make you a larger one if you just listen once more," The room was deathly silent

Almost a little too silent for my liking, their beady eyes bored into my soul, and then Grommash chuckled which soon turned into a roaring laughter, "You made this kingdom? Well I suppose that would be correct after all with us allying with you it was possible for the kingdom to be made. A bigger one you say? Now how will you provide us with that Morpheus?" he asked calmly a savage smile upon his lips

"Trust me Grommash, after what is to come these wizards' last thought would be on the goblins. We will not dominate the war, it will be bloody, and many lives will be lost, humans will not be able to risk another war in the future making them more agreeable. And fighting alongside one another should break any inhibitions," I replied smoothly a smile reached my eyes

One of the goblins to the right of Grommash laughed, "We wanted to hear your words and we have Morpheus, we will never trust you as before but, when the time comes the council has already agreed with his Majesty, you are the best bet, so yes we will ally ourselves with you. An emissary from the angels will be coming in two months I think you should attend,"

Blix snarled at the goblin, "Nettlegrim, we did not agree on allying with Morpheus what is the meaning of your words?" his tone was deadly

Grommash chuckled responding for Nettlegrim, "We didn't tell you because you cannot be trusted, the only reason you are on the council is to see what you would do and you didn't disappoint, talking to the demons behind my back, were you?" his tone was of laughter but I could see no humor

Right again, it is tiring being me sometimes.

"You have no proof," Blix replied swiftly

"I don't need proof,"

Blix knew he was going to die but instead of groveling, pleading for his life, he looked at me his eyes calm as a tranquil sea.

"Blood for blood, I invoke the right to slaughter," he spoke in coarse Gobbledegook

"You do not-"

I cut off Grommash, "Allow it," I said calmly

"Morpheus you realize-"

I cut him off again, "I already killed the son might as well kill the father too, make it an even number and all of that,"

"Very well," Grommash said

I stood from my seat, and a dagger was placed on the round table, "I can't bother to make this an event do it now," Grommash snarled at Blix

Blix did not show his age, he launched from the chair scooping up the dagger and pouncing on me like a viper.

Magic was forbidden, if I used it I would be attacked by much more than Blix. I sidestepped the attack a dagger sliding from my robe, it was a ritual dagger but I could make it work.

*Narrator pov*

He effortlessly sidestepped the precise attack. Morpheus, though lacking physical strength, compensated with his agility and cunning.

Using his slender frame to his advantage, Morpheus dances around Blix, delivering precise strikes to vulnerable points. Blood stained the ground as Blix's flesh is pierced and torn by Morpheus' swift movements. Each strike is a testament to the wizard's mastery of the blade.

Blix's screams of agony fill the air, echoing through the battlefield. Morpheus, with a sadistic smile, revels in the goblin's suffering. The goblin's feeble attempts to retaliate are easily thwarted by Morpheus' skillful dodges and counters.

With a final, calculated blow, Morpheus ended Blix's pitiful existence. The goblin's lifeless body crumples to the ground

"I can't wait to work with each other once more," Morpheus said a smile playing on his lips as his face was splattered with blood
