back to the swing of things

*Morpheus*

After the enjoyable meeting I had with Albus and the two idiots I decided to head over to the great hall to catch a little time for breakfast before classes started and I had to start preparing my classroom.

Walking inside the great hall I saw the confused faces of many older Slytherins, especially Thaddeus and Johnathan. Joining my fellow professors I began to enjoy my food with a side of tea this time. It seems the elves think I have a drinking problem.

"How did it go?" Yowie asked while cutting his eggs benedict

Taking a bite I smiled leaning back into my chair, say what you want about Hogwarts but the food is amazing, "It went as I suspected nothing will happen it was just a bit of training for their sons,"

Yowie turned from his food giving me a shocked expression, "How?" he asked, "By the way some of the Slytherins were talking you were set to be fired by the board,"

Of course, they spread a rumor like that prematurely complete rookies. The embarrassment they must feel right now.

I shrugged in response, "We had a good chat about history and they decided to drop the issue nothing less nothing more,"

"Good evening class, I hope you all had a pleasant winter break. Today's focus will be revision and improvement. During your midterms, I asked some students to show their proficiency in their resonated art. What I learned was sadly you all might have fallen behind because of the course load. I want to emphasize learning divination is a continuous process one that needs to be constantly worked on. Your resonated art is what your magic finds easiest for you, and that will help steadily walk you to new heights in divination. Everyone, please take out your resonated art. If you are a literacy diviner just take out a random coursebook it doesn't matter what subject," I spoke while walking back and forth across the classroom

The students quickly followed my instructions and sat quietly waiting for me to continue. Seeing everyone was ready I conjured the papers I made earlier and dispersed them throughout the classroom specifically to those specializing in the literacy arts.

"On the handout, you will find fifteen questions of which you will find the answers to while only using literacy divination. For the diving rod students you will spending the class designing your own diving rod if you do not have one made by yourself yet I will be walking around to guide you in choosing the correct materials. If you already have one I will offer suggestions to strengthen your bond with the rod and tips on how to properly perform searches. For the few tarot card students I am going to have you group up and practice the proper shuffle and displays also readings. As students do remember your readings will not be completely accurate,"

The students swiftly got to work the tarot cards users forming groups, while the diving rod and literacy divination students stayed to themselves.

I began to make rounds stopping whenever I saw a chance to lend a helping hand, I wanted to make sure I wasn't helping too much and slowing their personal growth.

Stopping in front of Narcissa I frowned as I gazed at her answer sheet, it seemed she was moving along steadily but, the rate she was progressing was far slower than I projected. Mulling over my thoughts I tapped on her desk, "Stay after class," I instructed then continued to move along

She wasn't terrible by any means at literacy divination but, from what I had seen previously during the brief tea divination lessons I instructed she has far more talent than what I am seeing today.

I stopped periodically to help more students most were just lacking in the focus department which is understandable because they are all still young.

Going over to Marinette I paused watching as she inspected her diving rod, "The material is good and suited for you," I commented

She looked up at my, "Thank you, professor," she replied with a schooled expression

Nodding I suggested, "To enhance your diving rod I suggest inserting the stone of your birth month into the serpent carving eyes. It will improve compatibility while bolstering your connection. If you can find someone to enchant the stones it would be even better, of course, I can enchant them for you if you can't find someone,"

Marinette looked shocked, "Thank you professor I will do so. Does the stone purity matter?" she asked

I nodded, "Yes the purer the better," with that I moved to the next student

Stopping at Francis Bellard a mundane-born student one of the rare few compatible with tarot cards I suggested, "Slow down your shuffling before having Xenophilius flip the cards, it will help with residence and while you slow down shuffling really think and picture the purpose of this particular divination. Every divination is different think about the main question you want answered,"

After a small back-and-forth class wound down and the students began to file out leaving Narcissa behind.

"Professor Morpheus did I do something wrong?" She frowned while looking down at her sheet that has yet to be turned in

I shook my head waving away her concerns, "Not you but I. It seems I misjudged your talents," before I could finish my words her face turned crestfallen

"No, not your talents in divination your talents in Literacy divination specifically although you are well within the herd I have seen better from you several times in fact, and each of those times it involved tea reading. I think you are gifted in tea reading more so than your resonated art and would like for you to focus on tea reading for the time being to test my assumptions," I continued

She looked surprised but happy at my words, "Is it weird for a witch to be more suited for an art outside their resonated one?" she asked curiously

"Not at all it is rather common actually, most divination masters are exceptional at several arts. If you can grasp both tea reading and literacy divination you will be a witch to be reckoned with inside these halls. Here is a book I'd like you to read in your free time detailing a more in-depth guide to tea reading than the small lesson I gave. Feel free to ask me any questions," I said with a small smile while handing over a tome

She took the tome and I could see her resisting the urge to open it and start reading, "Off you go now," I shooed her away jokingly

She nodded before turning around and heading out, "Thank you!" she exclaimed with a hurried bow

"Think nothing of it Narcissa I hope you achieve great things,"
