I understand it now

*Narrator pov*

For the first time in his life, Xenophilius hated his gift, when he started taking divination he was overjoyed to find out his mind's eye was more open than most. It was a breath of fresh air to know he wasn't crazy but instead gifted.

Xenophilius absorbed anything and everything Morpheus taught him soaking up the lessons like a sponge. He was ecstatic to actually begin learning how to use his gift properly. Morpheus wasn't an easy teacher either, the man taught his classes in an open-ended fashion.

Easy to pass but hard to excel and excel Xenophilius did not only would he stay after class and ask questions over things that confused and alluded him he also somehow whisked Morpheus into tutoring him outside of classtime.

Xenophilius would be the first to admit reading the book Morpheus gave him seemed daunting at first. Reading reports and first-hand accounts of people that went mad while seeing visions was chilling but, Xenophilius in his youthful wisdom figured this wouldn't happen to him and Morpheus was just trying to shake his spirit to see if he was dedicated enough to pursue divination fully.

He stared with empty eyes at his limbs bound to an infirmary bed, he looked tired and above all else horrified. His mind replayed everything over and over.

He felt for the first time he understood the burden of divination.

"You're awake that's good." Pomfrey scuttled in warmly while Uncorking a potion that lay on the shelf beside him

"Drink this dear."

Xenophilius didn't respond just looking down at his bound arms and back up a the medical witch.

Pomfrey forced a smile, "Oh of course sorry dear, you were thrashing around too much last night."

"Sorry," Xenophilius mumbled his throat felt barren and his voice crackled

Pomfrey flicked her wand freeing him from his bindings and allowing him to scoop up the potion and down it in one smooth motion.

His face instantly contorted in disgust, "Gah!" He gagged looking over to Pomfrey in horror, "What was that?" his voice was already noticeably smoother almost back to his old self

Pomfrey laughed, "Just a soothing aid, you wore out your vocal cords last night and thrashed about so much there is some small bruising."

Xenophilius scrunched his brows, "Why didn't you just knock me out?"

The medical witch shook her head, "Nor possible you were in the throws of a vision. Some wouldn't let me put you to sleep." her tone screamed she was very unhappy with that decision

As Xenophilius went to ask another question the door to the medical wing swung open, and Filius, Dumbledore, and Morpheus walked inside. Albus and Filius seemed apprehensive to approach lest they startle the boy anymore.

Morpheus on the other hand had no reservations he strode to the side of Xenophilius's bed and took a seat a smirk crossing his lips, "So first real vision how does it feel?" he asked

Xenophilius looked up slightly, "Horrifying." he whispered

Morpheus full on belly laughed, "Yes yes it is, in an artistic sort of way no?" he smiled knowingly

Xenophilius couldn't help but agree it was horrifying but he couldn't peel his eyes off of everything, "Here." Morpheus said tossing a journal on the boy's lap

A silence lapsed between the two. Xenophilius raised his right hand and gently brushed at the cover, he knew exactly what this journal was for, "Thank you," he whispered tears building in his eyes

"What did you see my boy?" Albus asked softly

Xenophilius jolted as if finally remembering a great danger, "Headmaster! There is-"

"Quiet," Morpheus spoke neither loud nor soft but his demand shut the boy's mouth instantly

"Close your eyes." Morpheus instructed putting his hand up to silence the curious spectators, "Remember everything I know it is seared into your mind. Think about the consequences of telling too much, broad strokes then make a decision."

Everyone was silent as they watched Xenophilius sift through his thoughts, finally after what felt like ages to Albus and Filius Xenophilius opened his eyes, "The dark Lord and an army will attack Hogsmead his army is bigger than anyone imagined. Defenses must be erected he is trying to cut a bloody path to the school."

Albus, Pomfrey, and Filius paled while Morpheus smiled, "Good!" he clapped, "I have taught you well, now I think you know what you must do."

Xenophilius thought for a moment before nodding slowly, "Go." Morpheus said

"Now wait a moment he still needs so-"

Morpheus waved her off as Xenophilius began to leave the room, "They have a secret passage into the school." he voiced at the door, then turned his eyes flamed with intensity, "But you knew all of this didn't you professor?"

"Leave Xenophilius go spend time with your friends," Morpheus said shooing him away

After he left Morpheus looked at his colleague's glares, "The boy's sight is strong." he declared standing from his seat

"You knew and didn't say anything?" Albus said in fury wondering why the soul contract didn't activate this was a clear breach

Morpheus scowled, "Don't be a fool, Albus. I didn't tell you because I saw my inaction would lead to Xenophilius having a vision which he did. Don't fret there is still time to prepare,"

"We could have had time to set up more! Time is more valuable than traumatizing a student." Albus argued

Morpheus scoffed, "Are you daft? Do you people even realize the burden of divination? What if we prepared and Voldemort saw our preparations well in advance allowing him to change targets to a place we didn't even consider! Keeping things hidden is just as important as speaking them aloud you best remember that."

"And don't think I didn't notice you being quiet Filius. You know as well as I Voldemort was preparing for a large scale attack and didn't voice anything." Morpheus stuck them both before they could pile on him

"You knew Filius?" Albus asked aghast at the idea his own staff was keeping secrets

Filius nodded slowly, "I heard some whispers but nothing concrete."

"Why didn't you say anything?" Albus asked hurt radiating through his eyes

"It was not my place." Filius squeaked defiantly

"Stop fighting." Morpheus broke the argument apart with a smile, "We should focus on preparing our defenses now shouldn't we?"

"Yes indeed." Albus murmured stroking his beard in worry

Pomfrey narrowed her eyes at the scene watching as Morpheus made Albus and Filius turn on each other before breaking it up acting as the sensible one.

Both of them forgetting he knew about the attack well in advance. It was at this point Pomfrey finally made a note to be weary of the clear-eyed man.

Xenophilius made it back to his room safely, Pandora waiting for him in the commons, "Are you okay?" she asked in worry bringing him into a hug

Xenophilius smile goofily, "Of course milady. Just a tiny vision."

She gasped, "Truly? You must tell me more!"

His smile slid off, "Best wait I think we should meet up with our dueling club again."

It was time to prepare after all.
