God's Wrath

Breathing becoming easier laster finally stopped puking, his face was out the window drooling, sand stuck to his cheeks.

"What's our destination," Laster asked looking like a sick dog.

"Who knows?" Rose answered preparing a sandwich for all of them.

Laster wipe off the sand on his cheeks as he spoke "Let's go to the desert city"

"And risk getting caught by guardians, old friend did the beating made you nuts" Frank said

"And we don't know what they will do to you and Rose if caught" He added

"My husband's right, the guardians are after us. why do you even want to head back?" Rose served laster sandwich and hot water she whisper to him "Are you still sane?"

"I don't want to pry but the desert city is their home, you won't survive going to the tiger's den"

Robert was munching on the sandwich his mom served him watching the conversation between the three, unable to speak up and say his thoughts as he felt like he didn't belong there and the three are in their own little world

"But!, we'll be happy to help you" Frank said his voice filled with exaggerated joy as if he was convincing himself that this is good for them but he knows that this wouldn't end well for him and his family.

"Oh no" Robert muttered to himself.

"Will help, right honey?" He asked Rose but didn't wait for her answer

"Now tell me the direction, I forgot" Frank said pulling a lever on his feet and the mechanical horse stopped at his command its nostril smoking.

"It's to our right..I think?" Laster guessed "I honestly don't know, I can't see any sign of the city" Laster watched through the window but saw no sign of the city or the guardians that raided Rose's home.

"Let's turn right then" Frank said looking back with a smile

"Thanks" Laster said his gratitude.

"No problem, we're friends"

Witnessing the two, Rose trembled in anger, she stood up and approach Frank with haste

"What is wrong with you two!" Rose yelled grabbing Frank by the collar and tossing him onto an empty seat.

The poor man was overpowered, he flew over to the wooden chair at the side where a sandwich and a glass of water is conveniently placed for him to eat and drink

"We will not head there it's dangerous" She stated the truth before heading to the front seat, it creak as she took her seat.

In the front of the wagon are buttons and levers probably to control the metal horse that pulls this wagon.

"And.." Rose looked at her son Robert

"Did you forget about your son?"

Knowing where the conversation is heading laster scratches his head

"Then, I'll hop off"

He hurriedly goes to the door that Robert blocked.

"Can I pass through little man?" He ask, Robert grease on his lips made way without saying a word.

Laster tried to open the door but it didn't budge as he pull on its wooden handle.

"How do I open this?" He asked

"No, you cannot" Rose spoke and all the windows closed themselves sealing all the windows and the door.

The only opening Laster can use to exit is the seat used by the driver on the front of the wagon where Rose is currently sitting at

"Why?, you wouldn't be in any danger so what's your problem" Laster said banging on the door but it wouldn't budge, it was made of wood not metal yet no matter how hard Laster used force on the door it wouldn't open up.

"Frank" Laster called "Open this for me will you?"

"Going to the desert city is dangerous even for you" Rose said "I will not let you go there until I know it's safe"

"Don't pretend to care woman!" He yelled punching the door making the whole wagon tremble.

"Unless this wagon heads to the city, please open the door" Laster spoke his voice answered by silence as the wagon begin to move forward.

The silence was unbearable and Frank was the first to feel its pressure.

"Honey I think we should head to the city?" Frank said.

"Mom..I..I agree with Dad"

Robert stuttered

"No it's dangerous" Rose answered.

"I order you to open the door" Laster said, Rose hesitate for a few seconds before pulling a lever and making the door open at her command.

The wagon is running at full speed, and the ground below was moving so fast that Laster could only see dust below his feet

He could feel the cold wind enter as the door opened.

"Don't do it laster your gonna die" Rose warned Knowing that Laster would try to jump off, she ready her hand on the button to stop the wagon in any case he would do it for real

"Its dangerous, Well head to the city laster we just need to make sure everything is alright"

Frank spoke

"That's not the real problem, the problem is that gorilla over there!" He pointed at Rose.

Rose looked behind and saw laster his middle finger pointing at her

"Gorilla?"

"That's right, I call you a gorilla what you gonna do?. kick me out of this wagon" He taunted her as he jump off just in time for the sand coming from below to rise and cushion his fall.

"He jumped!?" Rose tried to push the button that stopped the wagon but noticed a shadow from behind stopping her from doing so

"What did Frank feed you to make you that fat!" He yelled before noticing the sand below beginning to move.

"huh?"

The sand below Laster rises turning into a giant fist propelling Laster up, back inside the wagon.

The giant fist made of sand attacks the side of the wagon, it explodes upon contact sending a huge amount of sand inside.

The wagon violently shakes as the sand enters getting all over the food and drinks.

Frank rises his sandwich the moment the sand entered.

"Uncle!" Robert goes to Laster helping him stand up.

"Is he okay!?" Frank asked his son and Robert put his finger below Laster's nose just to feel the warm breath on his finger

"He's alive!"

Robert looked ahead and saw Rose beaming with anger

"For now at least"

"Laster said too much" Frank said.

A giant blade materialize above them, seeing the shadow of the giant blade from above Rose looked behind and saw the blade made of sand getting bigger and bigger.

Seeing the danger, she tried to move out of the way.

"Robert, Frank Hold on!" Rose yelled pulling a lever to close the open door and sharply turning the wagon to the right as the blade hit the ground making them fly away from the impact of the explosion

The wagon was in the air for a few seconds and as it meet the ground one of its wheel started to crack.

"That stupid moving house wouldn't survive the next attack!" A crazy voice carried from afar.

"Its Anna!" Laster said the moment he opened his eyes

Laster stand up with the help of Robert his eyes was attracted to the closed window.

"I could feel something coming" He said

He grabbed Frank and Robert away as a blade shoot inside the wagon turning the wooden cover of the window into shards of planks.

To the side of the wagon was a wall made of sand, stretching towards the sky.

"A Wall!?" Frank exclaimed

Laster moved towards the window, behind them was a carriage being pulled by two Gigantic centipedes.

"What's this for you crazy woman!?" Laster yelled pointing at the giant wall.

"We will guide you to the city!" Anna yelled.

She's at top of the carriage sweating controlling the sand wall, both her hand was occupied by the wall as she needs great focus to control it

"We will approach the guild so surrender now old boss!"

"Approach the city?" Laster's eyes shone as he yelled at the one driving the wagon

"Increase the speed gorilla!, let's head to the city!"

"Laster I swear when this is all over" Rose muttered her whole body trembling from anger.

"Speed up Blacky!"

She said and the mechanical horse got faster, the steam coming out of its body was so hot that Rose started to sweat.

"Dad, it's getting hot" Robert said trying to fan the steam away.

"Well, blacky is overheating it seems" Frank said looking at his wife sweating in the driving seat

"Honey, do you want to switch?" Frank asked and Rose quickly replied "No, I'm fine"

The wagon become so fast that the carriage behind them disappeared in a matter of seconds and the only thing Laster could see behind is a trail of smoke coming from the wagon itself.

"Were losing them" Laster spoke with joy

"Don't be too happy, the wall is still here" Rose said looking to the side where the sand wall stood

"Oh, that makes me happier you know" He said in a teasing tone of voice.

He sat down on the floor that was filled with sand breathing a sigh of relief.

"I'm coming back"

"Well, with this laster wouldn't try to jump off" Frank said with a smile

"Ain't this problem a blessing in disguise" Robert said looking at Frank who move his hand for a head pat.

"Boy!, you know how to talk" Laster complimented him.

"Of course!, I'm the one that taught him" Rose boast slowing down the horse to a normal speed.

The metallic horse had its body creaking as it slow down but the hot temperature it released begins to diminish making Rose who is the closest to it breathe in relief.

"Really, you?" Laster asked, Hearing it Frank tried to hold his laugh but a snicker came out

Hearing Frank, Rose said her face bright red

"I did!, you tell them Robert!"

"Mom teached me how to read" Robert said.

"You're not saying it because she's your mother right?" Laster teased

Frank burst out laughing upon hearing his words, he touch his stomach as he laughs uncontrollably

"I can't believe you could say all this right to her face" Frank managed to let out those words between his laugh

"Your brave old friend!"

"Darling take this seriously!" Rose yelled and Frank's laugh got even louder

The ride was smooth and the talk on the way to the city made them forget about the threat behind them.

The giant wall was still intact so they couldn't redirect their direction but this is what Laster is hoping for.

The opportunity to head back to the desert city

"It's unbreakable" Rose muttered running the wagon near the sand wall and punching it with all her might but it didn't leave even a single dent on the wall.

Her punch which could even dent metal plates is useless in this sand wall.

"I guess old age did take a toll on me" Rose muttered to herself.

"I can see it" Robert looked out the window to see a small house.

"It's the city" Frank goes toward Rose to see the view from the front.

Behind the house are the structures and homes that build the desert city.

He looked at his wife, her hands trembling and her face looking rather pale from his perspective.

"Don't worry, it will take time before they knew of our arrival" Frank said trying to calm his wife.

"We can get through this"

"Your right" Rose said, she looked at Frank for what seemed to be an eternity before leaning closer to him.

Frank came close to her face as he thought of his wife's intention.

Rose grabbed him by the back of his head and she press her lips against his.

Frank's warm breath which smelled like dry grass was a calming scent for Rose.

It was a sloppy kiss that made Rose calm down as it stopped her thoughts from running wild.

Knowing the danger that they are willingly going to it's not the danger that she is scared of, it's the fact that her husband and child are here beside her.

To go inside the desert city where the guild is built and where the danger lurks knowing the two of them might be in danger scared her.

She tightly holds Frank's back as she opened her eyes just to meet Frank's.

'I just need to protect them' She thought.

"Get a room you two" Laster said seeing them being romantic to each other

Laster goes to the window to give the couple some privacy, there he saw Robert in awe looking at the shadow of the largest building

"That's the guild" Laster said getting Robert's attention.

"Have you ever seen a guardian?" He asked Robert.

"Uncle, you mean the people that are chasing us?" Robert said.

Laster chuckled hearing his words

"That's not what a guardian is"

"A guardian is a person that protects and helps the people from our enemy" Laster said looking at the largest building with a somewhat lonely expression.

"Like killers?" Robert said,

"No" Laster said playfully

"Robbers?" Robert said

"No" Laster answered.

"Are you an idiot, I said the enemy of the people" Laster said with confidence.

"Isn't killers and robbers the enemy of the people" Robert answered

"I'm talking about monsters you idiot" Laster said.

"A guardian Is there to eliminate monsters and protect humanity against their thoughtless rampage," Laster explained before the wagon shakes uncontrollably.

Laster gripped on the side so as to not fall off but

Robert lost his footing as the ground tremble his head heading towards the window.

About to fall off "Help!" Robert yelped and Laster grabbed him by the arm pulling him back inside the wagon.

Laster peeked out the window and yelled to the two love birds in the driver's seat.

"They caught up!"

Anna was behind the wagon, standing at top of the carriage both her hands occupied by the sand wall.

"Shoot!" She ordered and spears fly from the carriage hitting every side of the wagon

Rose pushed Frank away as a spear shoot towards the driving seat of the wagon almost killing the two of them.

The spear split a lever in half making the door on the wagon and the closed windows open up.

"Mom what's going on!" Robert yelled his body getting pulled towards the door.

"Hold on Robert, we're close to the city" Rose said as her hand reached towards the control on the mechanical horse.

Focused on the carriage behind them, laster was able to witness with his own eyes the power that the guardian of this day holds.

A man that wears a robe identical to Anna's climbs up the carriage.

The man holds a small knife that he slowly carries up to his neck.

With no hesitation, he cleanly cut his neck spraying blood at the roof of the carriage.

"Laster I know you are watching so print this to your mind!" Anna yelled as the blood of the man that was sprayed all over the roof glowed bright red.

The blood floats up to the clear sky, the man with his bleeding neck, his whole body wobbling he pointed at the wagon that Laster was inside.

"I offer my soul for a contract" The man whispered and a piece of paper appear in front of him.

The paper glows of what resembles a holy light.

the man put his blood coated finger on the paper and it disappears almost instantly.

Laster watched the scene with disbelief before the bright light from above woke him up from that scene.

Above them was the sky being split open revealing a blue ray of light.

"Speed up!" Laster yelled he goes towards Robert shielding him from the thing coming from above.

Rose was late to react as thunder from above approached the wagon.

The thunder was destructive splitting the wagon in half, laster that was shielding Robert had his body fly towards the desert cities boundary

Frank and Rose were nowhere to be seen and the wagon was put in flame.

It was like they made the gods angry and so they suffer retribution.

A sudden powerful attack that no mortal could survive if hit directly.

The thunder was so fast that the loud sound of an explosion coming from the sky only happened after the wagon was destroyed and could no longer be recognized.

"Leader, I did it my job" The man said before drawing his last breath.

"Yes, with this they won't be able to leave the city"

....

Rose woke up in the scene of Frank cursing as he violently punch his leg commanding it to move but it wouldn't as his legs are trapped by one of the wagons wheel

The whole place was in a fire and the smoke clouded her mind and vision, even so, Rose lift the wheel and carried Frank on his back.

"Let's not leave yet" He said feeling the sharp pain in his leg.

"I will retrieve the wagon" He reached over the wreckage and fire, and the remains of the wagon vanished only leaving the sign of fire on the sand.

"I got the wagon" Frank muttered a small suitcase in his hand, he looked around the now empty field of sand but saw no sign of his son or Laster.

"They're gone" He muttered.

Carrying Frank, Rose looked behind them and saw the leader of the guardians sitting at top of the carriage.

Anna smiled seeing Rose in this situation, her clothes burned and her face covered by charcoal.

She looks pathetic.

Rose met eyes with the woman making her body shiver.

The explosion was capable of killing them if they were the target but no.

"It was aimed at the wagon not the people inside it" She muttered before looking ahead where she could see the desert city

"Let's leave," Rose told Frank as she run towards the city at a speed comparable to the carriage behind her

"Wait honey, Robert and laster" Frank said to her ear.

"Don't worry, I saw laster protect Robert" She said "They'll be fine"
