CHAPTER 32

The weather was cold and chilly. Miriam had been sitting secludedly on one of the benches in church! She was the only person present in the church which was a bit unprecedented, everywhere was quiet and silent like a graveyard. A pin dropped to the floor at that moment could be heard.

Miriam had been sitting in that same position as her eyes were glued to the huge Cross of Jesus Christ in front of the altar. Her attention had been focused in that same direction for what seemed like half an hour now.

She was patiently waiting for Carlos's arrival so they could have a counseling session with the priest but he was yet to arrive.

Soon enough, Carlos staggered into the church breathing hard. "Miriam, I'm very sorry that I'm late!" Carlos apologized while trying hard to hold his breath. "Common, you don't need to apologize but I think we need to reschedule our next meeting because we missed the section already with the priest," Miriam uttered with a tight smile.
