Sharing damage

You have once again saved my soul, a soul once eroded with pain...

***

Lex watched Bodie as they both got into the limousine. He was still limping even though it wasn't really obvious.

Lex sat opposite him and observed him wincing from time to time.

"Young master, should I get you anything from the supermarket?"

Bodie winced silently as he turned his lean figure to the side to get a spiral-bound notebook. He tore out a page, and scribbled something with a ballpoint.

After the chauffeur took it and handed Bodie the keys, Lex leaned forward still staring at Bodie.

"If you have something to say to me, spit it out already. Don't you know that it's rude to stare...?"

Bodie knew that he might not know not considering he's from another planet and all but he just felt like dissing someone. His insides hurt so much and he couldn't display those emotions to his chauffeur or bodyguard lest they report it back to his father.

"Do you want to share damage...?"

Lex asked still staring. Bodie heard the words and knotted his eyebrows, Lex should try to explain stuff as he does.

"What the hell does that even mean?"

Bodie pressed his eyes shut and leaned his head on the headrest. He wanted to avoid talking, get home and discreetly call his family doctor.

But with Lex getting more inquisitive, he doubted that his silent wish would ever be answered. Hopefully, he didn't sustain any internal injuries like last time.

Lex internally decided to show and explain later. He stood up and sat beside Bodie. Bodie didn't even bother opening his eyes. Lex placed his hand on Bodie's stomach and his eyes shut open at once.

"What the hell do you think you're... doing...?"

Bodie's question pulled to a screeching halt when the pain in his abdomen dissipated till he couldn't feel pretty much anything.

"I shared damage."

Bodie touched his chest and pressed his palm in to see if the pain receptors would react but they didn't.

"I know, I'm asking what share damage means... what...? Do you mean it actually means "share damage."

What Bodie wanted to confirm is if Lex had healing abilities but...

"Yes."

Lex nodded. Sharing damage means Lex absorbed the pain from Bodie's body like a form of transferrable energy.

"It's called sharing damage because it's not every time that I can rid you of all pain, both internal and external. If I'm not strong enough I'll only share the damage and extract a fraction of the pain from inside you and become the bearer of it until it subsides. I can't heal injuries so they'll still be there."

Bodie nodded and stood up to kick his leg forward, it didn't hurt at all. He sat back down... so it doesn't apply to injuries, huh? It was a really neat power.

"Is this your special power or something?"

Bodie was getting curious about how many superhuman things Lex could do.

"No, swiftness and sharing damage is a general attribute of every White-winged vampire."

This reply was too vague for Bodie and his dissatisfaction was apparent on his face. He said, white-winged vampires...? Does it mean that it's different for dark-winged vampires...? If this is a general attribute then what's the power that is unique to him, that is of course if he had any. Are there any other powers that are general attributes...?

There was so much to pick from and Bodie couldn't decide which one to start with.

"Oh, and rejuvenation is a general attribute too but my special power is—"

The door clicked and opened and the chauffeur dropped the shopping bags on the seat opposite the two of them.

Bodie shushed Lex and told him that they'll continue their conversation at a better location.

Bodie doesn't usually say this but...

"Thank you."

Lex was quiet for a while.

"Oh, so thank you here means Dīøœågå on Arsangah."

Bodie didn't even want to ask what that meant. He thought Lex knew all the English words probably because he appeared in this world but the two dialects were completely opposed.

"I have no idea what that means but the word 'thank you' is said here to show appreciation."

They walked up the stairs to the automatic front doors that Benson opened, deceiving Lex for a second that they were automatic.

Bodie tossed his bag at Benson and when Benson requested for Lex's bag, he turned him down politely. He believed he was a servant of Bodie and as Benson was here first, he was his senior in rank. He should be the one offering to help Benson carry Bodie's schoolbags.

"Dīøœågå is similar, it means 'you have once again saved my soul, a soul once eroded with pain'."

Bodie stopped sipping from his battle bottle to grimace. It was such a short word with a large and cringing meaning.

He tossed Lex three juice boxes of blood and picked out some things to snack with when he'll be doing his homework.

"Er... sure, whatever. Don't ever try to translate your planet's language again."

Bodie dismissed Lex to go to his room and he did the same. It was such a long day.

Bodie flopped into his bed and just stared blankly at the ceiling. He sighed.

"It was so worth it to watch Seppi bleed today."

He smiled the first genuine smile of the day and stood up to take off his school uniform. While unbuttoning his shirt he noticed the empty glass bottle partially died blue from the inside with Lex's blood.

"If I take a drop every day would I one day be able to—"
