Oblivious teachers

The mocking laughter of boys and cheery giggling of girls resonated in the chilly hallways.

"Tch, why is this class so fucking noisy?"

Seppi hissed as he strolled by with his lackeys. One arm was inside his pants pocket and the other one wrapped around Bodie's shoulder so he could masquerade that they were friends.

"Kids these days..."

One of them hissed and shook his head. Bodie was in his last year of middle school, and Seppi and his pals were in their second year in high school.

"Hehehe, they really are..."

Bodie's mind wasn't even on the lewd comments coming out from their foul mouths and empty brains. He was thinking of a means to get out of this situation. If he couldn't, he would just have to get beat up by them and then take revenge when he's back home.

"Goodness back in my day..."

Seppi's useless voice was annoying Bodie but he couldn't act rashly now. Seppi's different from Kevin, every dog has its master and those that it bites.

They took a turn left through the hallway full of club rooms and ran into some teachers at the intersection of the hallway that had the staircase leading to the roof.

"Hey, you there. Class is going to start soon, where are you all going?"

A middle-aged woman in a lab coat asked the group of boys walking together. She was with two other colleagues, a bald fat man and a tall young man who just recently joined their school on a transfer program.

"Huh? Teach! We're headed to the snack store on the second floor."

The lies rolled out of Seppi's lips like he had been rehearsing the line for hours.

"Oh, it's you, Seppi."

The middle-aged woman recognized Seppi as the class vice president of the homeroom she was in charge of.

"You guys just had lunch and you wanna go buy snacks again? Junks ain't good for you kids, so don't eat too much of it."

She adjusted her glasses while looking at the other students with Seppi. They were the friends he always hung out with except... well, she tried not to pay too much attention to Bodie.

"I think I eat more in colder weather, I'm feeling hungry again. I've probably digested all the cafeteria food, Ma'am."

Seppi answered fluently again. All his lackeys stood straight with the best look of modest students you could think of. Bodie rolled his eyes, their hypocrisy was making him sick.

"You should be setting an example as class vice president though..."

Mrs Rivers didn't miss Bodie's eye roll and even when she glanced at him acidly to let him know that she saw his rude behaviour, he stared her back in the eyes without flinching.

She suspected something was amiss. She didn't recognize the boy so he definitely wasn't in Seppi's class or one of the other high school classes where she thought chemistry. What class was he in? And why did he look unforgettably familiar?

"Aw, teach. I'll be back in ten minutes. I made sure the class was quiet before I left."

Seppi said.

"Ha, you punks make your trip quick. Don't be late!"

She decided to let it go and head to the teachers' lounge. She had a class practical with the final years, she needed to hurry back and prepare with the laboratory technician.

"Hahahaha, yes ma'am."

The scrawny-looking lackey replied.

"Hey, kid. Are you okay?"

The young teacher noticed Bodie's inactivity. He wasn't

even answering any of Mrs. Rivers's questions.

Bodie rose his head and looked at the teacher then pointed at himself.

"Yes, you. You look pale, are you feeling alright?"

Seppi paused at turned to Bodie. He had dropped his arm since the teachers came in sight. Bodie met Seppi's threatening gaze and almost scoffed. What was this bastard going to say to get himself out of this one? Bodie thought about it and exposing Seppi wasn't going to make things favourable for him at all.

And his father's thugs only act when he was the one who had been assaulted first so he needed those beating marks. With those marks, he'll be able to silence this overconfident Seppi and his gang for good.

"Yes, I'm good."

The young teacher didn't buy Bodie's words at all but Seppi's homeroom teacher intervened.

"The kid in the back just looks paler because of his complexion."

"Is that so?"

Mrs. Rivers nodded to him and he stopped asking about Bodie's well-being.

"Okay, take care kids."

Mrs. Rivers checked her watch and walked on with the bald teacher. Mr. Sav, the youngest teacher among the three kept staring back at them occasionally.

"Boys, if you have any concerns don't hesitate to reach out to a teacher, okay?"

"Oh, hahaha, yes sir."

Seppi replied and his hand returned to Bodie's shoulder, crushing him down to his level.

Mr. Sav felt more at peace after putting that information out there. He was not exactly the most passionate teacher about his job but he knew that were a lot of kids who had a hard time asking for help.

Seppi and his pals reached the roof without running into any other teachers.

"Fucking bitch, did you bring what we asked? We'll let your little stunt go if you brought it."

Bodie scoffed and flipped off Sonjay, the one who laughed jeeringly at equal intervals of time. He was just all about stealing lunch money from seventh graders just because he considers himself a thug.

Bodie hated his kind the most, they were shameless and brain-dead. And yet someone of that calibre picked him out of all people to swindle, is he fucking stupid...? Probably.

"Yeah, or you'll have to pay with your body."

Craig jeered and Sonjay slapped the back of his head in laughter.

"Why'd you have to say it like that you sick bastard?"

Sonjay laughed even more.

"What? I'm just being honest. It's not my fault your mind's in the gutter."

Craig said and Sonjay turned back to Bodie to get a decent reply to his question. Did he bring it or not?

"Piss the hell off, fucker."

Bodie didn't care if they beat him up. They'll have hell to pay for it later.

"Hell Nah...!"

Seppi punched Bodie in his abdomen just below his ribs and he doubled over in pain.

"Yo, stop tryna save this bitch."

Seppi glared at Sonjay feeling satisfied with Bodie's gasp in pain.

"Yeah, he's done for."

Craig squatted down and lit his cigarette.

"It only took one blow to knock you over? You're getting weaker Bodie."

Seppi pulled him up by his collar and just when he was about to...

Knock. Knock. Knock.

"Huh? Didn't we lock the door to the roof?"
