CHAPTER 11

WRITER'S CORNER

"How do you know Valerie?" Daemon asked, recollecting his thoughts after Valerie's car left the compound, as Ramsey walked over to have a seat.

"I should be the one asking you that question, D" Ramsey said, sparing Daemon a long glance.

"She's in my class." The words fell off Daemon's lips without giving him time to think of a better tale to tell.

"I kinda already have that figured out for myself." Ramsey stretched himself out on the sofa, tapping his feet gently on the floor, "I'm not stupid."

"So what else do you want to know?"

"Well, for starters, I'm curious as to why she visited the house." He sat up suddenly, probably deciding within himself that the issue on ground wasn't that minor for him to feel laid back.

"To check up on me, or were your ears stuffed when she said it?"

"Even with a stuffed ear, I can still hear perfectly fine, but thank you very much for asking." The sarcasm in his voice caused Daemon to scoff, seating on the opposite sofa, "The question I really need an answer to is why she came to check up on you?" He asked, eyes buried in Daemon's, who looked away, hesitant to give the honest replies he sought.

"Or have you forgotten how many high schools you've graduated from? You were the fairytale wish of every girl in school, homecoming prom king, but still no girl could lay claim to you. Why?" Ramsey continued, sparing some seconds to silence as he carefully scrutinized Daemon's expression, as reading his (Daemon's) mind was something he had not been able to accomplish.

"It's simply because girls don't interest you and even so more, the way you treat them made them never really care for you to the extent of checking up on your sick self."

"So what are you trying to prove with this history lesson?"

"Nothing really but for this girl to show up at your door just to check up on you proves you've been talking to her."

"And what if I have?" Finally finding his voice, and trying desperately hard to somehow out-talk him out of thoughts of Valerie, as that was all had been in his (Ramsey's) head for days now.

"Then you should stop 'cuz I like this one."

"Like? She's a human, just incase you've forgotten."

"I know and it still doesn't change the fact that I still like her."

"You drink human blood..."

"...and don't also forget animal blood. Aside from vampire blood which I haven't tasted yet, I drink everything else." He smiled naughtily, enjoying how he taunted him (Daemon) with it.

"Which makes you unsafe around her?"

"And who made you the judge of that?" His red eyes glowed, as Daemon tightened his fist in anger. He had to stay calm and not break protocols again. He can't make things difficult for Seth again.

"By the way, why is she even getting you worked up?"

"After all, like you said, she's just a mere classmate, and whatever happens to her shouldn't be a source of concern to you."

"I want you to stay away from her." He loosened the feet and allowed his body cool from the rage.

"Why? Why should I stay away from her?"

"Because I said so, Ramsey. Stay away from Valerie."

"Why are you all about this Valerie of a girl? I thought you were faithfully waiting for your reincarnated lover or something..." He was saying when the strings of his brain collided.

"Wait! Is she the reincarnated girl you've been all about?" He asked with a wide grin, excited about finding out something as important as Daemon's only love.

"She's the one, isn't she?" He wanted a verbal acknowledgement to feel even more excited, and wasn't willing to let Daemon's muteness take away his excitement, "I must admit she is really pretty." He added slyly, trying to piss Daemon off, and he succeeded, as Daemon's face became even paler, his fist was so firmly tightened that it could crush a rock and that only made Ramsey giggle loudly.

"You see this look right here..." He chuckled, motioning at Daemon, "...it's priceless."

"Does she know?" He asked after calming down from his own laughter.

"Nah, I don't think she knows. If she did, she wouldn't have waited a whole week and she wouldn't have stood staring at you." He answered his own question.

"Well, it's going to be a pity loosing her this time around to me, because I'm going to make her mine and keep her by my side forever."

"You wouldn't dare."

"Since it would be against rules to fight over a mere human that's meant to be food, let's just allow the beauty decide on whose side she wants to stand on." He was having fun, and he intended having it to the fullest with Daemon.

"May the best man... No!" He shook his head from side to side, "May the best lord... That too doesn't feel right considering you're an Impure blood and not exactly allowed to be a lord."

"Let's go for something more basic that would be befitting for your status."

"May the best vamp win over the heart of the beautiful human." He laughed, walking towards the front door.

"Are you not scared?" Finally finding his voice, stopping Ramsey on his tracks.

"Scared of?" Ramsey asked, turning around, genuinely curious.

"She's been in love with me in four of her lifetimes..."

"And how's that supposed to scare me? The fact that she died prematurely in all those lifetimes?"

"If you try to pull that card, I'd just let her know of her predictable future, which is death if she decides to be with you and I'm confidently sure she'd pick life over death." He stated bluntly, smiling at his own wisdom.

"See you later, cousin." He waved, closing the door behind him.

VALERIE'S POV

Thoughts of Ramsey and Daemon fought themselves in my head.

Why did they have to come from one family?

The loud banging of the front door saved my head from overthinking itself to death, as I made my way towards the living room, to see Annie at the door.

"Annie, what's going on there?" I called out to her, as she closed the door and half ran to me.

"It's a woman, ma'am."

"A woman?"

"Yes, she's not one of the usual guests of the boss." She explained as my curiosity heightened. Why was a woman looking for my dad?

"What does she wants?"

"She wants to speak with the boss."

"But dad travelled. Doesn't she know that?"

"I doubt she does. She looks kind of desperate also."

"Okay. Let her in."

"Okay ma'am." Annie half ran back to the door to let the woman in as I took a seat on the couch.

"Good evening ma. I'm Valerie Gonzalez, the only child of this family. My dad is not in the state as of now, but if there's an urgent matter demanding his attention, I'd be sure to bring it to his notice." I stood up to introduce myself as the woman appeared in front of me.

"Please help me save my son." She fell on her knees with tears.

"Is your son sick?"

"Yes, and he needs surgery. It's important I speak to your dad, please." She begged, tugging at my feet as a confused me punched in dad's number and he picked almost immediately.

"Hello dad. There's a woman here wanting to talk with you. She says it's important." I said, all in one breathe.

"Okay, let me hear her." He said as I handed over my phone to her.

"Hello Williams! Please save our son." Did she just call my dad by his first name? And Our son? Did I just hear that right?

"It's me, Rose. Please I'll explain everything later in person, I just need to take my son into surgery as soon as possible please."

"He wants to talk with you." She said handing over the phone to me who now had a trembling hand and voice.

"Dad, what's going..."

"Princess, please I need you to go to my room, and get her some money enough for the hospital bills."

"O-kay."

"I'd explain everything when I get back, I promise." Was my perfect father and ideal husband model a perfectly good pretender?
