Malaria was slightly stunned. What a hilarious look, on the head of his little black mosquito two small red dots appeared after it absorbed the blood. Looking at the little fellow, Malaria swallowed bitterly. He didn't dare to let this little bugger go back inside his body. What if all that nasty stuff started happening to himself?
As Orochimaru would say, "There really is no such thing as a 'failed experiment'. Any test that yields valid data is a valid experiment." Before allowing any Kaguya-bugs hatch new eggs inside of himself, he must first see how, and if, they can spread the Bone Rot to others by ejecting itchy fluids.
Placing the mosquito inside a glass bottle, just in case it flew and bit someone, he put it in his ninja pouch before thinking of how to get some testing material. The true method of gaining knowledge is through experimentation, another thing Orochimaru would say.
'Now that I think about it, I did capture that Scarface fellow. He's surely under Daddy Danzo's curse seal and won't be able to reject me.' Malaria thought. He exited his mudhut and made his way over to the interrogation division. There were several dozen's of Iwa-ninja captured in the battle getting 'treatment' at this place.
Soon finding a member of Team 40, the Konoha Torture and Interrogation force, Malaria walked over finding the member pretty interesting. The man was incredibly sociable, terrifyingly so. Every sentence exchange forced Malaria to give away every reason for his visit one by one, despite wanting to cover it up a little. After a short chat, Malaria got led to where Scarface was incarcerated.
Finding the man not even chained or under any sort of lockdown, sitting in his tent sipping on tea - Malaria couldn't help but sport a wry smile. Was this guy really from Iwa? He couldn't tell.
Seeing the man looking chill as a cucumber, Malaria approached stealthily from behind and whispered, "I'm pretty sure Danzo-sama gave you a certain something. If you can assist me in one matter, I could have you released without any remaining afflictions."
Glancing over his shoulder, Scarface narrowed his eyes, "When did you get in here, and how can I trust you?" Malaria nodded his head and shifted to sit on the other side of the small tea table. "As you know, you should already be dead - but here you are. I'm someone researching, let's say, a new poison and I'm in need of a test-subject that can tell me how it feels and document some reactions."
Shrugging his shoulders, Scarface motioned that he couldn't care less. He won't cooperate without some sort of assurance. Malaria clapped his hands while glancing at a shadowy corner of the tent. The Root Anbu that has been following him around flickered to his side in an instant.
"If my research goes well, I can assure you that Godfather would be immensely pleased. Could you have someone report that I wish for this mans release, seals and all, if he survives?" Taking out an empty scroll, Malaria scribbled down a few things and handed it over to the Anbu. Subtly acknowledging, he melded back into the shadows and got someone else to send the message out.
Hearing Malaria calling Shimura Danzo 'Godfather' shocked Scarface immensely. No wonder there was a 'zero-kill' order during their so-called mission. It would've been too easy to just throw a number of Earth Release's at the brats, but instead they had to fight in melee without causing permanent injury.
Feeling glad he got this opportunity, Scarface nodded his head and agreed to cooperate with Malaria. This way, he won't have to pretend he survived this attack on the Konoha Encampment and spy on his own village for Danzo. Thing is, the message Malaria sent out for Danzo was in short terms, 'Release, remove the seals and evidence, then kill.'
And it would only come to that if Scarface survived this experiment. Coming to an agreement, Malaria rummaged through his ninja pouch and took out the glass bottle with his eyebrowed mosquito. Unscrewing the cap, it buzzed out and landed on the top of Malaria's hand.
"All right, for starters I need you to relax your entire chakra system completely. I need to use one of the Aburame clans methods to infest a small area on your body where this mosquito will attempt to lay eggs." Glancing at the grimace Scarface was sporting, Malaria couldn't help but agree with that emotion. He felt the same just looking through his predecessors memories.
Removing his jacket, Scarface presented the bicep of his left arm. Plenty of muscle and veins covered the arm, a perfect place for the infested mosquitoes to thrive. Taking out a pair of specialised needles, Malaria went to work to create the initial entry points where the nest will infest.
Sporting a face carved from rock, Scarface didn't react at all to Malaria stabbing away at his arm. After a few minutes, the work was complete. Sending a command to the Kaguya Mozzie, it burrowed itself into the channel Malaria created on Scarface's arm.
Receiving a spiritual notification that egglaying has begun, they could only wait for them to hatch. Scarface wasn't sure what he was feeling, but if he had to describe it - his arm sensualized how a fish should feel once pregnant with plenty of eggs, like salmon roe?
After half an hour, a very tired looking mosquito burrowed and buzzed out from Scarface's arm. It was the Kaguya mozzie, completely spent after egg laying. Of note was that the eyebrow marks on it had dilutet slightly, if the saturation was a full 100% before, now they were only around 70%.
"So, other than the sloshy-feeling of having eggs in your arm - how do you feel?" Malaria asked to spend the time. It would take atleast another hour before the first few eggs could hatch, much faster than earth mosquitoes. He used to be under the misconception that it would take 10 days when he first arrived in this world, but one to two hours is enough.
"Nothing much. If anything I thought it would itch monstrously, but it just feels like my skin has received a pocket filled with some sort of sludge, like a pimple." Scarface answered, not feeling bad at all. Malaria noted down everything he said on paper, before continuing to ask questions.
"I created the infestation point just under your skin, near the muscles without tearing any veins. Do you have any feelings from the bone in your arm, maybe a skin or muscle irritation of some sort?" Malaria continued to probe. He remembers that his predecessor turned red like a cooked lobster everywhere the infestation points were, before hanging himself of course.
"No, only the points where you prodded me with the needle has a light itch. Neither bones nor muscles feel a thing. Perhaps a slight skin irritation, it feels somewhat like a localized fever just around the egg laying part." Scarface introspected. Just like receiving a slap somewhere, the skin on his arm was red and tender.
Nodding along while taking notes, Malaria felt relief wash over him. The Kaguya disease wouldn't spread during egglaying, or this guys arm would already start aching, or worse - explode in growth. "Brat, are you sure this is some sort of poison you're using on me?" Scarface asked, feeling weirded out. Did this brat plan on turning people into insect carriers for him?
"Oh, the 'poison' has not been administered yet. I'm trying to see if the carriers of it would leak and poison myself during normal times." Glancing at Scarface's arm before returning his eyes to the noteblock, Malaria continues, "Since you haven't shown any anticipated 'reactions' to the mosquito carrying out its daily living, I'm relieved with the first step."
Not quite getting the point at first, Scarface suddenly widened his eyes. Mosquitoes, carrying poison other than their own? This brat with his several thousands of the little devils.. Each one infected with various diseases and poisons… Why had nobody thought of that before!? Shit, he has to survive these tests to inform his village and raise the bounty on Malaria to the heavens!
As he looked at Malaria sitting there looking serene, scribbling in his notebook, Scarface felt like he was watching a miniature version of Shimura Danzo and Orochimaru in a single body. 'This brat is another research madman, a true crazy scientist with devilish ideas. He's too dangerous to keep alive!' he thought.
As Scarface tightened his muscles, prepared to sacrifice himself to take this brat down with himself, the curse seal on his tongue reacted immediately to his thoughts. He got frozen in place, unable to lift a finger. Malaria, noticing his 'experiment's diverging ideas only chuckled slightly.
"Well, I know what you're thinking - and it will be worse then that, I assure you." Malaria couldn't help but think back to his life on earth. The greatest killer acknowledged in the world wasn't a person or specific method, but rather diseases. The original plasmodium malaria virus back there only reaps about 700 thousand lives a year, a mere pittance compared to other things.
Once he can combine Orochimaru's knowledge on cells into a poisonous extract, he could create something akin to cancer that his mosquitoes could spread over the world. That's around 8 million deaths a year on earth of all places. If he wants the jackpot of diseases, it's the cardiovascular disease - fatty cells occupy areas stopping proper bloodflow in the body, especially around the heart.
That's also not an impossible endeavour to genetically manufacture. 'Oh, there's so many good things I could do, I just need some time. Man, I can't wait to doom this world… Wait, why do I want to spread diseases in the first place?' Malaria couldn't help but do a double take.
'If I'm not wrong, my current life situation is supposed to be a 'soul holiday' awarded to everyone on earth based on one's own death. If anything, this ain't no holiday but a torturous life experience. I'll just do whatever, causing a doomsday is just fine.' Malaria finished thinking about his reasons just as the eggs were hatching in Scarface's arm.
'Time to see if the newly birthed mozzies will spread the disease to its host or not.' Standing up to his feet, Malaria walked over to inspect the slight movement he could see over Scarface's skin. These little ones were spiritually connected to Scarface, and shouldn't do any harm to its own 'nest'. Himself getting itchy fluids throughout his entire system isn't deemed 'damaging', according to mozzie logic.
Glancing at the frozen Scarface's face, Malaria could only wave at the Root Anbu again to somehow un-do the punishment this time-stopped fellow was suffering. Stepping out of the shadows once more, the Anbu did a number of handseals and muttered a low 'Kai!'
Instantly, Scarface started huffing and puffing. He couldn't even breathe properly when he was sealed with his mouth closed like that. Not trying to do any more tricks, he soon calmed down. Feeling the strange connection he has with the mosquitoes in his arm, he could feel them feeding on a few drops of his blood.
Before he could try to control them, he looked at Malaria who was holding two orange bottles of that coughing gas. "Don't call them out, don't do anything at all, and just answer my questions. Otherwise, you're never getting out of here." Malaria threatened, the Root Anbu stepped forward and placed a kunai next to the throat of Scarface, understanding the severity of this matter.
Nodding stiffly and glancing at the Anbu next to his shoulder, Scarface figured out he was now stuck in deep shit. "First question, like previously, do you feel any aching in your bones, or muscles? Any skin irritation?" Malaria put down one repellent and picked up his pen to write down the reply.
Feeling the intense vibe in the air, Scarface replied, "No. Just the same as previously, except it itches a lot where the mosquitoes fed themselves on birth." Malaria couldn't help but grin happily as he wrote it down. 'Success, at least I won't get the disease from housing them inside myself. Now, time for the next step.'
"Good, I'm happy with that answer. Now, remain still as I'm going to administer the actual poison. Prepare yourself mentally, this could turn gruesome. Think about your upcoming freedom and do your best." Malaria commanded his own Kaguya mosquito to feed on Scarface's other arm.
As the mosquito landed and pushed its sucker through Scarface's skin, it released its fluids to increase the bloods fluidity and hinder coagulation. Like a bruise, a black colour started spreading under the skin on the arm.
The disease has been successfully delivered!
