Cleansing

After Mallory left, the women in the brothel gathered and greeted their boss with grateful looks in their eyes. "Boss! We did not know that you cared this much! We look forward to working for you in the future!"

More started to come forward to express their gratitude towards her so the boss was confused. 'Huh.. she must have said something to them for them to suddenly be warmer towards me.'

While Mallory was treating them all with the use of her talismans, she had told everyone that the boss would be making changes for them all to improve their working and living environment.

Many of the older women who still remembered the poor conditions they had to endure before the boss took over were especially happy about how she had decided to make some improvements.

Although the boss had not made large efforts to improve the work and living environment when she took over, she did not abuse her own workers or give them less payment than what they had earned even if she did often look towards them with a cold and hateful gaze.

While they did suffer mistreatment from the customers, anything big was solved by the customers being removed and possibly banned but due to the bosses lack of power, she had to often look the other way as her workers were abused.

She had never seen the women in the brothel look towards her so expectantly and with grateful gazes so she did not know what to do.

As she went back to her office, she called in one of the girls who handled some of the affairs of the brothel then passed a copy of the document which mentioned the minimum guidelines for the brothel to be kept open. "This place needs to be cleaned up and the others will need to help with making this place safer."

The girl accepted it and then went to do her job as the boss was left on her own. 'I cannot help but think about what that girl said… is it really okay to dream?'

She never had anyone look at her with excitement or gratitude before, her life was filled with unpleasantness of others and the lust of men until later she gained nothing but loathing gazes from others.

When she took the position of the boss there were some with may have been sincere in their respect towards her but that was only due to the power she had which could easily be lost or so she believed it to be.

When everyone looked towards her with sincere gazes, she had softened a little and liked the feeling of being a respected boss who is liked by their subordinates so she was motivated to get the business in a suitable condition so that it is not shut down.

Meanwhile Mallory made a trip to the other brothel where she held an inspection but she only found a couple among the men and women that worked there.

She left the documents and the information on how to purchase the talismans for them to make improvements to their business since the brothel in the slums was not the only business up for inspections.

There were many more notable places and among them was the next destination.

A larger crowd gathered as she arrived at a large area which had many leisure facilities inside.

There was a bath house, a steam room, a gym and a place for a massage among the facilities and Mallory used her documents to gain entry to the pool area where she put on a display.

Her eyes had already confirmed her doubts so she took out a couple of talismans as she told everyone. "You may think that those places we visited before are the root of all of the cities problems but you are all very wrong. One person could easily start an infestation in one place and it would grow worse if it is left unchecked or they do not have the means to detect or deal with it."

She then continued. "These diseases spread through that kind of contact but there is also through saliva or other bodily fluids. Simply sharing the same utensils may pass on the disease to another and this place is one of many that could spread the diseases to the masses. This is why the city has arranged for a mandatory checkup so that everyone can remove any diseases they may have caught."

Mallory held out the talisman and placed it by the pool of water as she said the keyword and the light entered the water.

Mallory's eyes observed the changes and said. "This one talisman was not enough to remove the polluted waters here. Imagine it like this, one diseases body comes to drink or bath in a place like this, a pond or a river. There may be those that can use magic stones to help heat or make the water suitable for drinking or using but not everyone can do the same.

A public bath house needs to be cleaned out regularly or their customers need to be checked and cleansed before entering the water. Whether it is a public bath house or a pond everyone uses to bathe in, those that use them would have a chance of contracting the diseases if others so you must always be careful."

The manager who was trying to make sense of the situation went pale as he understood everything. "You mean.."

Mallory nodded. "I will take part in cleansing this place and some customers but you must strictly follow the guidelines from now on if you wish to remain open. The detection talisman will be useful for detecting any problems with customers before they enter the facilities then you can keep some cleansing talismans to deal with any customers who have been detected. This way everyone is much safer."

Mallory was followed by many people as she cleansed the pool and the people in the building then she made a trip to the water wells and other drinking places before going to any of the ponds and rivers in the area.

One by one the waters were cleansed and they become very clear and without any lingering dangers hidden within.

While she was doing so, she quickly noticed how many talismans she had gone through just to achieve what she done had so far so she couldn't help but weep over the amount of Valis she could have earned with those that she gave used without gaining anything from them in order to help the city.

While it did cause her to feel down about the potential Valis she could have earned, it did help to spread word about her actions and the good she had done for Visa City.

The gained fame would help draw up more support for her and buyers for her talismans in the future but her personally taking action had allowed her to gain a large amount of Valis as she was drawing everyones eyes towards herself as she created her first 'adventure'.
