For Peace

Mallory had been walking forward into many situations of her own accord or had been pushed to the front by certain events or people around her.

It was the perfect way to earn Excelia and fame at a fast speed but it came with many dangers and trials.

Mallory had been enduring and striding forward in her previous life as misfortunes came at her from every direction without warning.

It helped to develop a personality that would either face the incoming storms or would hide from them but Mallory developed into the first one with the help of her benefactor.

When it came to poking into the business of others and taking action, Mallory was the type of person to meddle in certain affairs if those things blew back onto her or those she cared about.

When there were so many problems with the city and it was slowly being guided towards death and destruction, Mallory could not turn away from it when she could see various auras which were possibly connected to the downfall of the city.

Through her actions, she attracted the attention of others and used her familia who were eager to solve the crisis to lure out some bad people within the city.

Those people lead to others which had lead to the downfall of several corrupt, malicious and traitorous nobles while uncovering many secrets they had kept hidden.

One was the secret passage leading into and out of the city which had even been hidden from Goddess Seshat's eyes while there were other inhumane actions taken by many others whether it was the poor treatment of their slaves or workers to some even keeping monsters and conducting secret experiments on the slaves or monsters.

Other family conflicts, curses, poison attempts and other events that were the potential threats to the cities stability were discovered quickly.

It lead to the restructuring of the nobility and those in power but various measures were put in place so that the city could be run more efficiently and some action could be taken for to improve the lives of the citizens.

If the city lord was not grateful to Mallory and did not protect her in the meeting then he would be seen as ungrateful in front of a goddess.

The city lord coughed as he began to explain. "I understand that some criminals had infiltrated your lands and had taken a female from your race. The brother was a member of the royal guard and left in search of her. By coincidence…since the criminal element has been left to flourish for so long, slavery and many other things have attracted many groups to the city so they can earn money.

The dark elf female was bought and held captive by the boss of the underground within the slums.. when your brother came searching for her, he found the boss but was unable to get his sister back and had to follow the bosses orders. If he did not submit then his sister would be harmed and possibly killed so the boss held the power to control him."

Many of the dark elves showed indignation and rage upon hearing the story. "How could.."

The city lord saw that they were about to say some mean and hurtful things out of anger so he continued to interrupt them. "Ahem.. I do not know what things he had been ordered to do before we were aware of the situation but by then it was already too late. He attacked Mallory with the intent to kill according to the orders he had been given by the underworld boss. He lost the battle but he still lives."

Many dark elves looked surprised upon hearing he had been defeated, it was difficult for someone to defeat a dark elf who was much older and had a longer lifespan which had also been part of the royal guards.

The royal guards only accepted the very best talents of their race and they each had developed their own specialties enough to kill their opponents quickly.

They saw Mallory who was still young then saw the goddess by her side so they instantly understood the situation.

Either she had the assistance of her familia or was a talented person who had been blessed by her goddess with a status, although defeating a royal guard was difficult to do.. there were always different situations that would allow such a thing to happen.

They would never have known that they were looking down upon a level one with all maxed out stats.

The city lord caught their attention again before they showed any more disrespect towards Mallory. "Ahem.. thanks to Mallory's contribution, we were able to capture him without killing him and he has been treated. He is imprisoned but he is being treat well while we were able to find his sister after we captured the boss and investigated his properties.

The brother and sister are safe so we hope to hand them over to you to maintain the peace between the dark elves and Visa City. As a token of good will on my part, I will pardon the crimes he has committed during his time here and release him into your care. In doing so.. I hope that there is no bad blood between us and we can discuss some countermeasures for handling similar events so what do you think? Mallory over there was also brought in by such people so I am sure that you want to deal with those troublemakers too right?"

Mallory silently nodded her head in response.

The city lord raised his hand to his heart and bowed his head. "I apologise on behalf of the citizens and visitors of Visa City. If I had a better grasp of the things going on in the shadows then I would have never let this happen."

Mallory observed the aura of the city lord and saw that he was being sincere but she detected another strange part fluctuating in his aura. 'I have not met him before so I did not notice this. How ominous.'

The two dark elves were a diplomatic nightmare for the city lord because their existence remaining in the city would only lead to misunderstandings and infuriate the dark elves.

It was better to call for a diplomatic meeting to inform them of what had happened then clear up any future misunderstandings which could lead to war.

Trying to use the brother and sister who had already suffered enough as bargaining chips for whatever goal the city lord wished to achieve was also a way to get on their bad side too so he had to hand them over to show that steps were being taken to improve the state of the city and that he was sincere in his apology.

Although the brother was imprisoned and his belongings were taken from him to prevent further mishaps, he had been healed and fed regularly since them while the sister had been living in comfort and undergoing treatment of her own.

The head representative of the group looked towards the others while thinking it over then spoke. "Can I see them?"

A knock came at the door so the city lord raised his voice. "Enter. It seems that they arrived on time."

A handcuffed male dark elf and a younger female dark elf were lead in by a man, both looked very weak and pale as if they had been treated very harshly.

The man showed a cowardly appearance as if startled by the city lord. "Sir I did as you ordered."

The dark elves were about to scold and attack the city lord suddenly upon seeing the poor state of them but they had no time to.

The brother and sister coughed up black blood and their eyes rolled back as they dropped down to the ground.

The city lord stood up shocked. "This.. poison? Did you do this?! You dare!"

The man dropped on his knees and began shaking. "I only did as you asked.. how could I go against the city lord."

Just as a fight was about to break out and Goddess Seshat had felt uneasy, Mallory moved quickly.

Two talismans appeared in her hand and she flicked them towards the two dark elves while speaking in her native tongue. "Cleanse!"

White light surrounded and entered their bodies which followed with the two dark elves suddenly coughing out more black blood and impurities being released from their bodies.

A dark elf saw what Mallory did and unsheathed his elven blade pointing it towards her. "How dar you! Die!"

Mallory avoided the blade then ran towards the man who was quivering on the ground then flicked the same talisman onto him suddenly. "Cleanse."

The man had his head lowered and bit down on a poison capsule which would kill him instantly but he felt his body become warm while the poison did not work on him.

He was confused but did not have long to think because Mallory kicked him unconscious.

Mallory stood to the side of the body and then returned to Goddess Seshat's side who played the role of a silent spectator.

Seshat finally spoke up in a cold voice that was befitting of her status as a goddess. "Sheath your weapons children!"
