Chapter 4 – His traps

Inside his office Gregory was feeling happy. He has already won. He took a phone call to Mr. Mark Collins.

"Hello, Mr. Collins we can proceed on our project, Anna is ready for the marriage. "

"O.K. Mr. Gregory, I'm so happy to hear the news. I will visit you soon with Mr. Frank Carlton. After the marriage we can sign the contract."

" Yes Mr. Collins, but….. you know my company is in an urgent need of that money you are willing to invest. So can we sign it earlier?"

"No, As all of us are in the business field, you know how it works. On the same day we will sign both marriage certificate and the contract."

"O.K. then you can decide the date then, But I like it to be very soon."

"Yes, I can understand. I'll call you back"

Gregory hang off the phone and looked at the desk calendar, counting the dates for the share issue. He was nervous, but he knew how to plan, how to make things done. He felt proud of himself. He was a great hunter.

He wanted Charlotte, So he removed all the barriers between them including Sylvester and left Charlotte with only one option, to marry him.

Few years ago he wanted to be a director. But there was another manager who was honest and won the trust of the president. But Gregory, the hunter made the other manager a thief by generating fraud accounts and documents. Soon the innocent manager was fired. He was just an assistant manager when he started the job, but now he had become one of the board members and a director. Gregory worked hard and he could win most of the project proposals by bribing the clients. Sometimes using money from the company which was done with the approval of Mr. Victor Bose, and sometimes using Charlotte to please them which was unknown by the President Mr. Victor Bose. Mr. Victor was an honest man with good moral values, he will never accept sexual bribes at all. If he knew Gregory was such a filthy man to use Charlotte, he will never allow him to be in the company too.

But Gregory was a genius is laying traps to fulfill his desires. So he carefully dealt with the president. Mr. victor was impressed by Gregory's performance which gave the company more and more profits and his dedication. So Mr.Victor made him a director, without knowing his hidden wicked intentions. As a director he owned a considerable amount of shares of the company. But Gregory's greed became huge, he wanted to be the president. For that he wanted to buy more shares.

Last month he overheard the telephone conversation of Mr. Victor.

"Yes, I know the best thing is to sell 5% of my shares. But there is a risk. Then I will own only 45%."

There was a pause. The person on the other end said something.

"O.K. then let's meet and discuss."

Gregory sensed the opportunity, he used his contacts in the share market and confirmed that the shares will be issued soon. He wanted those shares so badly, but he can't afford it. In the same afternoon he went out to have lunch and accidently met Mr. Mark Collins who has come for a business tour. While having a drink with him he put forward the idea of investing in the company's new project.

Mr. Mark didn't want to invest but after knowing the name of the company "Victory Holdings" he agreed.

Next day, after the conversation, he went directly to the office of Gregory. In the elevator his eyes caught a charming girl, she was wearing a casual dress. No make up. She didn't even look at him. Mark was handsome ,any girl would look at him, but she didn't. That made him upset. Both of them came out in the same floor. She went straight and Mark went to find Mr. Gregory. He was not in the office. Mark was nervous, did Mr. Gregory knew his plan .He doubted.

He turned and opened the door. She found that girl was carrying a baby in her hands. The little one was crying, she was singing a song while patting the baby's back softly. Her lullaby was so melodious but Mark couldn't hear it clearly ,not because she was a bit far from Mark, but she was singing in a low voice. Mark didn't open the door fully, he didn't want to disturb her. But he had so many questions in his mind.

"Who is that girl?"

"Is she working here?" again his mind argued, " With those casual clothes, It can't be."

"Is that her child?" " Can be as the child slept peacefully in her arms now."

His mental argument was disturbed as he saw Mr. Gregory.

"That's good you came Anna, I'll pay you in the evening" Gregory told her without stopping.

He saw Mr. Mark standing near the door of his office and apologized Mr. Mark for the delay.

They went in. Before starting the business conversation Mark wanted to know about the girl.

" Was that your employer?

"Who"

"That girl with the baby"

"Oh, She is taking care of Dulsy's baby today. Dulsy is preparing your agreement,her child is sick and she wanted a leave today. As I wanted her to be in the office to complete the documents I asked her to take care of the baby."

"so, that girl is a daycare assistant?"

"No, Normally Anna comes to help, as she is doing better handling kids." Gregory wandered why Mr. Mark wanted more details about Anna.

She was not fashionable or hot. If she had those charms Gregory will not delay any second to use her to entertain his clients. But Mr. Mark was interested in her. So, he added,

"and Anna is my step-daughter."

Mark never thought that he would get a great chance like this, his eyes were full of bliss.

Gregory noticed it. But before he could speak, there was a knock on the door, and Dulsy came in with the documents.

"Mr. Gregory the agreement is ready."

"Thank you Dulsy" Gregory said while taking the file from her.

"So, You were in a hurry to make this agreement, aren't you Mr.Gregory?" Mark's words were mixed with a suspicion.

"I like to do the right thing at the right time Mr. Mark. I don't like to waste time." He tried his best to build a good image of him as a businessman. He passed the agreement to Mr. Mark. He turned the pages but his mind was busy with something else.

Mark knew Gregory's true colors. He met Mr. Victor earlier in the morning to clarify the details of the new project. He doubted Gregory at the first meeting. Mark knew Mr. Victor personally and he never mentioned about a new project. After the meeting he figured out what he doubted was right.

Mark came today to meet Gregory to catch him red handed and help Mr. Victor. But Mark changed his idea when he found that Gregory's step-daughter can become the perfect bride for his best friend , Frank.

"O.K. I will go through the document and will let you know if there should be any adjustments."

"Sure Mr. Mark"

They shook their hands and Mark left the office. He couldn't find Anna outside the office. He hurried back to the car and made a call.

"Find about the step daughter of Gregory Brown and report me as soon as possible."

After less than a half an hour the details were on Marks hands. He went through carefully and he smiled joyfully.

She is the perfect match for Frank. He thought.
