Quest: Paying Respects Part 3

When Ayden said he would give them the item, he really meant it, only he never planned to allow them to keep it. Without warning, he stepped forward and slammed his fist into Trasheaters neck. Trasheater didn't even have a chance to react before he was sent to respawn. His body turned into white 0s and 1s as it disappeared, leaving behind three credits which Ayden picked up before the other two could even react. Money to him was very important, so he was not going to leave it lying around.

"You bastard!" Earwax was the first to yell out, but Ayden had already moved to throw a punch at him. Earwax quickly dodged but only narrowly and went to counterattack, but Ayden had already side stepped to the side and sent a left hook at Redtail, who seemed to still be in a daze about what was happening.

While he did not like doing it, Ayden was actually not bad at fighting. Walking to and from work all the time had caused him to get into some tight spots with drug addicts and others who were trying to shake him down. So he had to learn to protect himself as much as a normal human could. Sadly not all those who had stopped him were also purely human. He had gotten himself beaten a few times, mostly because he had no money. As such, people like Earwax and Trasheater, plus their friend, were nothing to write home about. They were nothing but two bit thugs he could easily deal with, especially in a game where if he punches one, he can easily send them to the respawn point.

As soon as Ayden's fist landed on Redtail, he also turned into a light of 0s and 1s before disappearing, leaving only Earwax left. Earwax, who had failed to hit Ayden, face turned pale as he turned and ran, leaving behind a few words as he did. "You! You got the better of us today, but we will get you back for this!"

Ayden frowned as he watched Earwax run away. "You run after you lose two of your friends? What's the point of trying to rob people if you can't even handle a single person by yourself?"

Clenching his fist, Ayden felt that he needed to practice more. When Earwax dodged his punch earlier, he noticed that even though his fists should have hit if this was the real world, the difference in speed was enough to allow him to dodge without issue. "Luckily, I pivoted and changed targets, or I could have been the one to be sent to respawn. I should probably use my five augment points to raise my agility a bit more so I can move faster. If I were to fight a monster now, I might not be able to even kill the easiest of monsters unless I can get a surprise attack like I did on Trashcan or whatever his name was. I should also be more careful. Just because someone's health is low does not mean I can win a fight just because my damage is high….."

Ayden went ahead and upped his agility so he could be slightly faster.

With this now set, he turned and looked at the ground to make sure he didn't miss any money. While Trasheater did drop three credits, Redtail did not seem to drop anything, which made Ayden slightly disappointed.

Now that the issue at hand had been taken care of, Ayden finally got to take a better look around. He could see many players running about killing the monsters in the surrounding area. He could also see many other things that people were overlooking and even trampling that could be used for crafting things.

He walked over to a plant sticking out of the ground that was a bluish green that had a white fuzzy texture to it. The leaves were sharp and pointy at their tips.

Seeing the information about the plant. Ayden's eyes opened wide. For one thing, while crafting materials were easy to come by, the crafting recipe was usually a mystery. From what he read, very few people knew how to craft anything major. And the things that were being crafted, the ones crafting it, would not release their methods. Which gave them a monolply over the market."If I make a bunch of these health injections and sell them in bulk, I wonder how much money I would make…."

After thinking about it for a moment, Ayden quickly looked up how to see items in game to find that there was a thing called an auction house he could go to to set a minimum price and then allow people to begin bidding on them. Only after twenty four hours could see if his items had sold or not. "This seems to be the best method to make money for the time being. Maybe I can get enough to get a few more real world credits."

With his plan set, Ayden suddenly turned into a machine. From herbs used in crafting to items dropped by monsters but left behind by players, Ayden looted it all as he made his way to this objective.

It was not until he reached the forest where fewer players were situated that he finally ran into his first monster.

While it said it was weak to fire, its body still had a single weak point that Ayden could see, which was a white dot on the right side of the head. Ayden did not go to fight the monster right away as he tried to observe the monster, but no matter how he looked at it, it would probably attack no matter what way he attacked it from. "Well, not like I can die for real, so I guess I can use this for a bit of training."
