Carlos' shock was expressed on his face but only for a few split seconds. He quickly regain his scowl as he spoke back with a sneer but telepathically so as to not alert the others. This was the ability that the vampires feared so much, it's not that scary since all he could do was communicate with one's mind, regardless of race.
