Sabine got dressed in another leather ensemble today. She paid for her room and left the motel. Today she could take it easy so she decided to take a slow leisurely ride through this one-horse town, thinking to herself that this town’s horses must’ve died eons ago as they seem to be left in the dark ages.
Nothing seems to be happening here besides a coffee shop that seems to bustle on the outskirts, where she decided would be the best place to stop before she rides the final leg of her journey to Chris. She set her things down on the table and ordered herself a double espresso and just watched as this sleepy town started waking up, and started their day.
While staring out the window she completely lost track of time until the chimes at the door pulled her attention back to the here and now. When she looked at the door she looked straight into two patches on leather jackets. Luckily they belonged to a club she didn’t know but she was still on high alert not knowing if they were affiliated with the Sons or helping them look for her.
She paid for her coffee and then ordered herself a takeaway and then went and sat on her bike to drink it. The sooner she hit the road, the sooner she got to Chris and all her worries and stress would be behind her. Sabine’s head was buzzing and pounding from all the tequila she drank and her mouth felt as dry as the Sahara Dessert. The two cups of coffee did nothing to quench her thirst.
She reached for her cell to check the time, aagh, it was only 1 pm. She runs her hand through her long hair and huffs out a frustrated breath. She put on her helmet, started the bike, and pulled out of the parking lot of the coffee shop. In a few short hours, she will be in Melrose Hills.
Sabine headed into Melrose Hills as the sun was going down, she rode past a bus station where she stopped to put the information she had collected into a locker, as having it lying around a motel room was not safe at all. She headed to the closest or as luck might have it, the only motel in town, booked in, and went to her room.
She decided that a shower to wash off the grime of the day, and a few drinks would be in order before she would let Chris know that she is in town and will see him the following day. When she was done in the shower, she threw on a pair of boxers and an over-large t-shirt that she usually slept in and was pulling back the cover on the bed when she heard a heavy pounding at the door. Her heart rate picked up and her level of anxiety kicked through the roof, what if they found her, shit she was so close to freedom, she could almost taste it.
The pounding hit once more against the door then his voice brought her crashing back to reality
“Sabine open up, it’s me Chris” he shouted before pounding on the door once more. Sabine breathed easier knowing that it is her cousin on the other side of the door. Seriously I need to calm the fuck down or I will give myself a heart attack she thinks resting her hand over her heart. She walks towards the door, flips the latch unlocks it then opens the door to see a man she doesn’t recognize, he has really changed over the years.
“How did you even….?” She started saying before Chris cut her off mid-sentence.
“A new bike rolls into town and we are notified, that’s how I knew you arrived. Come on, you’re coming to the compound where we can keep you safe” Chris demanded, gathering Sabine’s scattered belongings not giving her a moment to protest.
“Hey slow down there,” she says taking in the sights of the man now standing in front of her. Where the hell is the tall’ lanky guy with pimples and braces? In front of her was this sexy, buff, blonde God. She walks over to him throwing her arms around him in a bear hug.
“God, I have missed you. Thanks again for helping me out Chris, it really means the world to me” she says against his neck, finally letting the man go.
“Wow Sabine, look at you, my god, how you have grown,” he says smiling down at her.
“I am going to have to shoot some of my brothers if they dare …… It is going to be hell, keeping them away from you. Anyway time for pleasantries later, we need to get out of here” he suggests pushing Sabine towards the door. As they both head into the parking lot he pushes her toward a black Lexus,
“Wait what about my bike?” she exclaimed looking at Chris confused.
“One of the guys will have it delivered to the compound in a few hours, don’t worry it will be safe,” he said loading her and her bag into the car.
“Thor’s state-of-the-art home has become the compound. It has state-of-the-art security and is impenetrable, you will be safe here, I promise you” Chris says looking over at Sabine from the driver’s seat. We weren’t driving for long when Chris pulls into a long drive, where we are stopped by a huge metal gate for a vehicle check. Once we are given the all-clear, Chris puts in a security code in a keypad which then opens the metal gates. We drive along a winding driveway with trees alongside and a massive space of open fields on either side.
This place is magnificent. We are standing in front of a mansion. Sabine’s jaw is practically hanging on the floor. She has never been to or seen a compound quite like this one. Sabine is standing shell-shocked as Chris walks up the stairs, waiting for Sabine to join him.
“Come on Sabine, you can ogle tomorrow” he snickers as they both enter the house.
Sabine could feel that here she would be safe. With the sheer size of this place and with the security measures, she could finally breathe easily. No more looking over her shoulder while she is here.
As they entered the large doors Sabine came face to face with a large marble staircase in front of her, a large arch on her left that led to what must be the rec room. Large black leather recliners, a few scattered tables, and a large flat screen tv hanging on the wall. A bar and two pool tables were also squeezed into the room, with ample moving-around space. People were joking and shooting the breeze there, they paid no mind to our entering.
Chris and Sabine headed up the stairs and the second door on her right was open.
“This is your room, sleep tight and tomorrow I will introduce you to all my brothers at breakfast. Thor our Pres. won’t be joining us, he had a family emergency to attend to. I am sure he will be back real soon though” Chris says leaving her bags on the bed. When he got to her he kisses Sabine on her forehead and walks towards the door.
Sabine cleared her throat and spoke up,
“Chris, thanks for everything, I mean it, I owe you big time”
“Hey don’t mention it, you are family remember,” he says with a smile closing the door behind him. Sabine throws her bag on the floor, turns the duvet down, and just plops down face first on the sheet, exhaustion finally taking its toll on her exhausted mind and body. She took that final deep relaxing breath before her eyes just fluttered close and stayed that way.
