Ophelia nodded her head.
It was only when she saw that the king tilted his head and only glanced alternately from the rabbit in his arms and at the girl, only then did Ophelia realize that maybe she was thinking wrong.
"Uh, am i wrong?"
'aren't Vampires suck blood?
After all, His Majesty the king doesn't look like someone who would bother running after rabbits unless he was really hungry'
So the man was running in this field and soiled his clothes with grass to catch the rabbit just to take care of it?
Cassius was a little confused at first. He had drunk a full glass of blood yesterday and his thirst was temporarily quenched.
Before he will return to being bloodthirsty again when his needs are not met. The man was better able to think clearly now.
He immediately handed the brown rabbit to her "hold this"
Ophelia accepted it slightly confused, for a moment she was about to drop it. But she adjusted the position of her hands so that the animal was more comfortable in her arms.
"I don't want to eat it" Cassius grumbled. "I'm not hungry all the time"
Vampires feel hungry to the point of tormenting themselves usually after sunset. When the sky darkens and stars appear, it's a vulnerable hour for them to find prey.
The Vampires would roam around to hunt. But Cassius never needed to do that. There will always be a stock of fresh blood already prepared for him. Although it would be more delicious to suck it from a living creature.
The man need not worry. There will always be volunteers, women, throwing themselves at him. Even if there were none, the king only needed to order his subordinates to bring him prey.
The taste of this human girl still lingered on his tongue.
Miraculously since then, the king never felt thristy to torment again.
Ophelia still couldn't
remember what happened the night the king ordered her to be in his room.
Cassius watched carefully the two figures in front of him. The index finger on his chin. The king nodded in satisfaction. They're both so adorable.
'she must need friends and comfort' the man thought. 'Moreover, she looks so eager to chase the rabbit but can't catch it'
Not much interesting things in the Cobalt palace. He himself did not understand why the sudden desire to please his son's nanny was so great.
Ophelia stared at the rabbit for a moment, the animal's ears twitching cutely. The girl smiled "but Your Majesty I will not have the heart to take her to the palace"
"But don't you want it?"
The girl nodded "I can't separate this rabbit from her friends. What if she is the mom who has bunny?"
Cassius was silent.
Ophelia lowered the doe and stroked its brown fur. The rabbit jumped to and fro before finally starting to drift away.
"I don't think I'll have time to take care of it either." The girl said shyly.
She's right too. The girl's time almost all day is for his son. Cassius felt so silly right now.
"Mommy!!" It was then that they realized that Averio was somewhere else.
"Where's that boy?" Cassius glanced around.
"Let me look for the prince, Your Majesty"
Ophelia immediately approached the source of the voice. The scream seemed to indicate that Averio was in fear. Ophelia is running wild.
As soon as she found the tiny body cornered, the boy was brought down from her position on the hilly ground. She immediately ran towards him.
"prince Averio!"
Her heart seemed to stop beating especially when the boy was dealing with the yellow-eyed black furry beast.
A panther.
Ophelia slipped and fell as she was going down the hill. She hissed feeling her leg sprain. She grabbed a rock and threw it moving to repel the beast.
"Go away!!"
The stone hit the beast's head and it backed away for a moment. but only for a moment before it roars again this time with a stance to lunge at the girl.
The beast growled, revealing its white fangs. Averio hugged her arm tightly "It's alright. I'm here" ver voice trembled.
Ophelia was about to stand up and carry the prince but her legs became so sore.
She couldn't stand up for now.
"Run to your father dear! Hurry up" she pointed towards where Cassius was still waiting for them and pushed the boy's body.
When Ophelia crawled away, the panther was already in a state of readiness to pounce.
The beast let out a low growl.
"Run Averio!"
She didn't care if he couldn't stand up. She will crawl. But most importantly, she had to keep the little prince away from this predator.
Averio sobbed. The boy was so scared. He didn't want to run let alone leave his mommy here.
"run!!"
ROARR.
The beast pounced in a black mass in midair at the speed of the wind.
SLASHHH.
At the same time, the silver blade slashed through the air at the same instant.
Cassius' dagger stabbed the beast. The panther slapped his hands but with quick, well-trained movements the king pierced the beast's eye.
"Get lost!" Cassius hissed.
The panther died and fell to the ground. Cassius drew his silver dagger which was now covered in fresh red blood.
Luckily he always tucked the dagger in his belt wherever he went.
The man felt a hug on his left leg and looked at his son's frightened body. He cleaned his dagger and sheathed it back before cradling Averio's body and calming him down.
"ssshh. It's okay boy"
Ophelia let out a sigh of relief.
'Thank goodness the prince is fine.'
Cassius calmed his son's crying and turned to find his son's human nanny sitting on the ground and struggling to stand.
The girl's knee was bleeding.
Ophelia endured the pain as she tried to straighten her sprained ankle.
She looked up, King Cassius' cold gaze on her implied nothing but one, fury.
