Although they were interrupted, Charlotte didn't pay too much attention to it and followed everyone out of the room.
As they walked out, it didn't take them long to collide with the fighters, those who will sacrifice their lives on the battlefield. They were right next door after all and everyone merged into one cohesive group.
The newcomers were a bit out of place, as they were the only ones who didn't interact once during this entire walking trip.
Lucian stuck to Charlotte, a bit shy of the fighters. He was dead silent the entire time they walked. Charlotte couldn't blame him, as she also became a bit more reserved when interacting with new people. It wasn't to the point of being overwhelmed, but more so her anxiety to keep up a persona.
Charlotte kept to herself and thought while on this walk to who knows where.
'He is more curious than I thought. That is a good trait though, being curious. He wants to know more about the world and make his own opinions, even though I am force-feeding him mine. But he might actually develop his own thoughts after listening to others. To discover the ugly of their current world and then deciding to take action... that sounds quite heroic.'
At some point, they were guided to another room that was much bigger than the previous two meeting rooms. It was spacious, providing more seats and space to walk around. It might be because of the size, but Charlotte felt breathing was easier as she walked in.
Everyone took a seat randomly around the giant table in the middle of the room. Since people were more comfortable with those they know, the room was filled with endless chatter.
As she scan the room, she saw Blake chatting it up with another man.
'He seemed to be the leader of the fighter? The "commander" of the battlefield?
Unlike the leader of the "informants", the man wore a black suit. It did an amazing job defining his features and showing off his well-built body.
'He is a soldier after all. It takes strength to fight and so the body comes as a bonus. But like, doesn't he realize it was shown clearly?' Charlotte questioned.
She found herself looking around the room, this time a bit more intently. It became quite clear to her that the majority of the soldier's figures were very well built. Since it wasn't shown clearly like the man in the black suit, it was something that might just go over her head.
As she gazed at everyone around the room, ignoring the intense flirting coming from her department of "informants", she looked to her side and found Lucian staring attentively at a certain guy.
She looked over to where he was looking and matched his gaze. He was apparently staring at the guy she passed through before going into the meeting room this morning. His black hair was messily done, giving him a natural look. He wore a black trench coat as if to match his aesthetics, which highlighted his ridiculously tall figure. He seemed to be in a daze as if he was thinking about something, his expression not showing too much interest.
She looked up at his name.
"Armand Hendrix... he looks like the guy we met before," Lucian suddenly blurted out.
Charlotte immediately turns to Lucian.
"How do you know?"
"I'm not sure, but he stared at me earlier as we walked. His eyes... their similar," he said in a daze.
"Are they now?" Charlotte questioned but received no response.
Lucian kept staring at the guy as if alienating him, trying to figure out who he is. Fighters, Charlotte would imagine, have a very sharp sixth sense. It didn't take Armand long to look back, directly meeting Lucian's eyes.
Charlotte took a look at those aforementioned eyes and found herself sucked into them. His eyes weren't black, but a shade of deep blue very closely resembling black. His eyes sucked her in similar to that of a black hole, a space where she could only dwell on her thoughts as she gets slowly crushed by the tension. She was mesmerized, but his eyes were remotely different from Lucian's. Lucian's were a breath of sunlight, shining brightly and illuminating her soul. It was kind and caring, yet deeply enchanting. Like crystals forming and reflecting the bright sunlight. It was like a light that shines even in the abyss.
'Is this... a romance in the middle of-'
Her thoughts were cut off by Blake as he and the man next to him spoke up, stopping the conversations.
