Chapter 53: Cheers

"They have reached the enemy base," Charlotte confirmed.

"Good, they seem to be doing well," Lucianna nodded.

"Keep us updated," she turned towards Lucian.

The early morning moved, it was now late afternoon. The sun was descending. The moon could barely be made out. No, it could be partially seen, except with weird bumps and lumps attached.

Everything was still a blur. Charlotte wasn't sure if she had anything for lunch. She couldn't remember much.

Not much communication was heard. Only brief updates here and there.

Things weren't exactly smooth, but it was repetitive enough that not much could be said. They were fighting, maneuvering, huffing, those little red dots.

Those left behind were a little out of it, even the captain herself seemed to have left her body. Only Lucian was really focused, the worry from the morning still remained on his face.

It is safe to say the "secret affairs" were no longer secret. It couldn't be helped. Once one was about to risk their life for a cause he didn't really believe in, he can't help but feel guilty. They were practically glued to each other so it would be hard to ignore.

'It doesn't matter much. I am sure they will make it out alive together one way or another. Unless it's not the typical sad ending...'

Charlotte flickered awake, she jolted, unable to comprehend what was happening. She heard an excited shout. She turned to look at the young man joyfully standing up, his eyes widened, his lips quivered, and tears streamed down his face.

She was confused for a moment, fully taking in his happy appearance. He had his hand clenched on his heart, she doubt he even realized he unconsciously did so. His posture shrunk back in relief. It was an emotional scene, she couldn't help but feel light-hearted herself.

The young man made the whole atmosphere shift. His reaction pulled everyone back into reality. Charlotte swore the colors got a little brighter.

"They are almost there! They are winning! The troops are retreating!" Lucian hastily spoke, his voice raising up a notch with each exclamation.

"The enemy is retreating. We will proceed to push forward," the static voice played.

It seemed the suit has been a bit damaged.

"Received. Everyone, pay attention! Ready to send up back up! This is a critical moment that we must grasp!"

"Lucian, continue contacting the other teams. Make sure our signal is not completely lost."

"Luna, send the second to last wave of robots."

"Charlotte, monitor the battlefield. They can only retreat so far. Backups probably will also be sent from the other side."

"Copy!" was the last sentence heard before everyone was drowned with work.

Charlotte didn't remember what she said. She mentioned something about the enemy stopping their retreat, something about their defense, and something about timing.

It didn't matter. A sound could be heard.

"We have successfully captured the enemy's base. Informants, prepare to relocate."
