Friends.

"My girlfriend?" he asked in confusion.

"Yes."I said and he chuckled.

"And who is this girlfriend of mine that I know nothing about?" he asked.

"Violet." I said.

"She's not my girlfriend. she's just a friend."he said.

"Well, she said otherwise and she promised to deal with me if I don't stay away from you." I said.

"What? She said that?"he asked in amazement.

"Hmm-hmn." I said.

"You've got nothing to worry about. She wouldn't do anything to you, I mean, not without my permission."he said and I scoffed.

"You think I'm afraid of you or her? Well I'm not."I said and he smiled.

"I know that." he said and I sighed. "Come with me." he said.

"What?"I asked.

"Come with me." he repeated.

"To where?" I asked.

"Just come with me please." He said.

"No way."I said and opened my book, but he flung it and ran away. "Jeremy." I called and ran after him. He ran to the stairs and I followed him. "Jeremy, give me back my book." I yelled. He went up and up, I was getting tired already. The stairs were too much. I stopped to catch my breath. I breath so hard. I'm gonna deal with him if I catch him.

"Lazybones. What are you still doing there? I thought you were tough." He said and I got angry and continued chasing him. I finally got to the last step I looked around. Everywhere was empty, it looked like this side of the school was abandoned.

"Slowpoke."he called and I marched to him angrily.

"Why did you make me climb those staircases?" I asked and hit him.

" Don't you just love it here?"he asked looking over the balcony. I looked around, one could see the entire school from up here. There was a cool breeze that pats my skin. The view was amazingly beautiful. Jeremy sat on a desk.

"Come over here." he said and I walk to where he was.

"What is this place?" I asked.

"It's part of the school, but it's no longer in use."he said.

"Why?" I asked.

"I don't know, maybe because the stairs are too much to climb." he said and I giggled.

"You can say that again." I said and he laughed. I sat on the desk but far from him.

"It's really beautiful." I said.

"It is."he said looking at me.

"Was this the place you wanted me to come with you to?" I asked.

"Yeah, it's amazing right?"he said.

" Yes." I replied looking at the scenery. "Do you come here often?"I asked.

"Yeah, it's my hideout." he said and I looked at him.

" Hideout? Who are you hiding from?" I asked.

"My friends, just everyone." He said.

"So no one knows you come here."I asked.

"Yes, no one knows except for you though. You're the first person I brought here so, congratulations." he said and I eyed him. He stretched the chocolate chip snack to me. "Have it." He said.

" I don't want to."I said.

"Take it, you'll love it. It's actually my favourite."he said.

"Fine." I said and took it from him. "I hope I would like it."I muttered.

"You will." he said and I opened it and put some in my mouth.

"It really tastes good, it's nice." I said.

"I told you you'll love it."he said proudly. He opened another one for himself. I checked my wristwatch. Lunch break was over and I guess teaching must have started.

"We should head back to class." I said but he didn't stand up.

"I want to be here, can you stay with me?"he asked beseechingly.

"But teaching has..." he interrupted me.

"Alright, you can go ahead."he said and dropped my book and looked away. Was he angry?

JEREMY'S P.O.V

She took the book and left. I smiled to myself. "Five..four..three..two..one.."

"Ok, fine I'll stay." she said and walked back to sit down. I smiled at her.

"You told me we weren't friends right?" I said.

"Yes." she said like a question.

" I want us to be friends."I said and she looked at me.

"Why?"she asked.

"I just want it."I said she sighed and smiled at me.

"Maybe I want it too."she said.

"Really?" I asked excitedly.

"Yeah." she said and I stretched my hand for an handshake.

"Friends?" I asked and she shook my hand.

"Friends." she said and we both chuckled. she brushed her hair to the back of her ears.

"So..JeREMY.."she stressed the 'remy'.

"Call me J." I said.

"No, JeREMY." she did it again and I laughed.

"What's funny?" she asked.

"It's not JeREMY, it's Jeremy." I said.

"That's what I said, JeREMY."she made the mistake again.

"Ok, let it be. What were you going to say?" I asked.

"Well, I wanted to know why you were mean to me at first and why you are being nice to me now." she said and I smiled.

"Let's say it's who I am." I said.

"So you are mean to people at first, then nice to them later?" she asked.

"No, what I mean is that, I don't like people who talk back at me. I mean, I'm used to getting what I want, the way I want it with no opposition and it's been like that for a long time, even among my friends what I say goes. No one dares challenge me. A record of those who did were all dealt with severely. That day at the mall, you had the nerve to talk back at me and it was degrading to me so I wanted to get back at you in the same way I dealt with the others. Of course I did get what I wanted. I was responsible for hurting your legs, sorry about that. I expected the same satisfaction I derived from having revenge, but I didn't experience it. Instead, I felt weird inside. I later realised it was a feeling of guilt. One question popped into my mind. Do you want to know what the question was?" I asked and she nodded. "Why were you the only one whose tears made me feel guilty? I wanted to know." I said.

"So you became nice to me." she said.

"Yeah, I was curious to know more about the girl who was daring and bold enough to confront me when others were too scared of me." I said and she smiled.

"Has your curiosity been put to rest now?" she asked.

"Not completely.. I mean, I have gotten to be your friend, that's a start." I said and she laughed beautifully.
