I'm an orphan.

KYLA'S P.O.V

It was Monday, mum dropped us at school and left for work.

"Kyla, where is Jeremy?"Daisy asked.

"I don't know Daisy. We both just got here, how am I supposed to know?"I asked.

"Well, I want those chocolate chips of his."she said and I laughed.

"Are you going to rob him of it?"I asked and she nodded.

"If he doesn't give me peacefully."she said and I smiled.

"Hi kyla, bad morning."Violet said walking to me and I rolled my eyes.

"Same to you, dear."I said with a smile and she scoffed.

"So you didn't adhere to my warnings to stay away from my boyfriend, right? You even had the guts to go out with him on a date.. And this wristwatch.."she grabbed my wrist staring at the wristwatch. ".. I saw this same wristwatch on J's wrist. Did you, perhaps, steal it from him?"she asked with a cold face. I snatched my hand back from her.

"Kyla, she's mean."Daisy said holding my hand and Violet bent to her.

"Yes, little girl. I'm so mean that if you cross my path, you're gonna get hurt."she said and I pulled Daisy behind me.

"Don't you have any shame? How dare you talk to her like that?"I said and she laughed. I turned to Daisy. "Go to class now."I said.

"Won't you come with me?"she asked.

"I'll come later, ok?"I said and pecked her

"Ok."she said.

"Run along now, little brat."Violet said and Daisy stuck out her tongue at her and ran away.

"You really have no shame. She's just a kid."I said.

"Whatever bitch."she said.

"I'll pretend I didn't hear that."I said.

"You don't have to."she said and I made to walk away but she pulled me back. "I'm not done with you, bitch."she said. "Gather around everyone."she yelled and students started coming closer. What was she trying to do?

I saw Jeremy, Brian and Mitchell coming to us.

"Vi, what is the meaning of this?"Jeremy asked in annoyance.

"I'm about to reveal her secret, one she's hiding from you. Just be patient."she said to him. He looked at me with a worried face. "Everyone, listen up. This bitch here came to this school in a disguise." She said and turned to Jeremy. "You said you love her? Let's see if you'll still love her after knowing she's an orphan."she said and my heart skipped a beat. Everyone gasped and started murmuring. How did she find out? "She was raised at a local orphanage. She just got lucky to be adopted by a wealthy couple which landed her sorry self into this school."she said with a smirk. My eyes were getting misty. I couldn't stand the embarrassment.

JEREMY'S P.O.V

Kyla ran away from everyone with tears in her eyes. I held Violet's arm tightly.

"What do you hope to attain from this? If you think I'm gonna leave her because she's an orphan, then you're wrong. It doesn't change a thing. I love her even more."I said and pushed her away not minding were she falls. I was so angry.

I went in search of Kyla. I searched everywhere but couldn't find her. There's only one place left to check, and that's the balcony. I climbed up the stairs and got to the balcony. There she was, sitting on the floor, not the desk. Her back was against the wall and she faced the other way. I could hear her sniff. I walked to her and sat beside her on the floor. She looked at me and quickly wiped her tears. I could see that she was deeply hurt.

"I'm so sorry for what Violet did earlier."I said.

"It wasn't your fault.. She wasn't wrong anyway. I'm an orphan."she said and hot tears flowed down her cheeks. I pulled her close to myself.

"It's ok, that's enough."I said.

"JeREMY,I didn't.."she trailed off, unable to speak as she was choked by tears.

"Don't say anything."I said and patted her back gently.

After some time, she stopped crying and was calm, staring into nothing.

"My parents died when we were robbed. I was just eleven years old while Daisy was just a baby. We were taken to the orphanage when no one came to claim us. All I wanted then was to take care of Daisy. Couples came to adopt me or Daisy at that time but I refused for that to happen. I didn't want to be separated from Daisy. The couples didn't want to adopt two children at the same time, so we remained at the orphanage until I was too old to be adopted. I thought all hopes were lost but mum and dad came and accepted to adopt the both of us. I was so happy. They treat us like we were their biological children."she said with a smile and looked at me. "I'm getting to experience what real teenage hood feels like and not just being responsible for everything a parent would have done, especially for Daisy. We both have everything we want in the blink of an eye. I guess we're lucky.."she looked away."But being called an orphan really got to me. I immediately remembered the dreadful day my real parents were murdered right in front of me."she said and shut her eyes. "Daisy and I only survived because my parents hid us under the bed. I held on to sleeping Daisy so tightly and suddenly..I heard four gunshots and they both fell to the ground staring at me. 'take care of Daisy.' were my mum's last words. 'you two will be fine.' were my dad's last words.'"she said and tears flowed from her shut eyes. She opened her eyes and looked at me. "Am I to be blamed for what happened to them?"she asked.

"No Kyle. You're not to be blamed."I said and embraced her. She's gone through a lot. I can't believe I ever wanted to hurt her. No wonder she doesn't like talking about herself. It's just so sad. I refrained from her and stared at her.

"I'm really sorry for trying to hurt you."I said feeling guilty. She smiled.

"That's nothing, I'd seen more than that. You were just used to it. Bad boy."she said and we both chuckled.

"I admire you a lot. You're a sweet big sister to Daisy. She's really lucky to have you. I now understand why she's feisty."I said.

"Yeah. Life at the orphanage was quite a struggle. There are mean kids there too. I had to teach her how to stand up for herself when I'm not there with her, so that she won't be intimidated."she said.

"That's nice. I couldn't even get pass her."I said and she laughed. "Kyle.."I called.

"Yeah?"

"I'm not too good with these kind of words but, you shouldn't think too deeply about the past, it ruins your future. What happened to you could have happened to anyone. Look at the outcome.. You came out so strong. You shouldn't bother yourself on that. There are still people who love you. Like you're mum, your dad, Daisy.."I paused.

"And you?"she asked and I looked at her.

"What?" I asked.
