AN: That's right, it's back, and not just that the same unexperienced form of writing is here.
The Demons have a ranking system, there's low, medium, high, feared, disaster, destruction, and lastly unknown tier. The goblin that we encountered along the way is only a low-tier demon, the Hobgoblin on the other hand is a medium-tier demon.
The Hobgoblin possessed a huge metallic mace, its forehead has a singular horn, and its body was covered in scars that made a pattern.
The Hobgoblin's hand was broken and smashed, bones were exposed in the open, and blood was dripping from the smashed flesh.
A medium-tier demon may not be scary with all the ranks above it, but its prowess is strong enough for an expert to fight with all of their might. As for a novice, it's quite hard to fight one.
"Can I fight this one, Mary?" Shea said with a look of anger on her face.
Seems like she hates demons, and with the look on her face, she might as well lose her temper now.
"Sure." No matter how angry Shea is, I'm still interested in her strength.
Shea calmed her body, I'm surprised she managed to do so with the anger she just showed.
The hobgoblin stood there and watched as the air turned cold, with the sudden breeze that passed by the hobgoblin shivers causing it to move slightly, however, Shea used the slight movement as a way to attack and dashed towards the hobgoblin.
Seeing Shea move towards it, the hobgoblin raised its left hand and smashed its metallic Mase into the ground that Shea dashed towards.
However, the metallic Mase missed as Shea twisted her body and dodged the attack, seeing this opportunity Shea went to stab the hobgoblin's hip, but the hobgoblin moved its massive body backwards causing it to miss.
The hobgoblin used this as a chance to counterattack and swung the mace upwards, hitting Shea, and making Shea fly to a nearby tree.
Looks like that's all she could do, I should probably help her, I thought to myself.
However, Shea stood up again.
"That's weird, why is she harmless."
Her body had no injuries whatsoever and not just that, her dress that she was wearing didn't even get ripped apart or scratched.
Seeing the uninjured Shea, the hobgoblin jumped towards her and smashed its mace.
However, Shea blocked it with a semi-translucent blue hexagon that was hovering in the air and protecting her.
Is that a barrier? it seems too strong for a barrier.
"Since I am in another world I don't need to hold back." She said as she smiled and pushed the hobgoblin off with the hexagon.
"I see so that's how it is."
The blue hexagon that Shea showed just now was her Prime Skil. A prime skill is an inherent skill that people gain as they grow, in this instance, Shea's prime skill is this barrier-like hexagon that she's controlling.
No wonder I felt like that barrier is stronger. With this barrier, she could have a chance of defeating this hobgoblin.
The hobgoblin stood up and started approaching Shea carefully. With the barrier in the way, the hobgoblin's attack is worthless, which made the Hobgoblin think about ways how to attack Shea.
The monsters in Shea's world are really smart, The hobgoblin back in the world that I came from barely uses their brain and simply attack with all their power making them vulnerable.
The hobgoblin and Shea were now at a standstill, silence enveloped the atmosphere and tension arose as time passes. Then, in a single moment, the Hobgoblin moved towards Shea. Seeing this, Shea used the barrier to stop the Hobgoblin's approach, however, the Hobgoblin jumped into the air and tried to attack Shea above her, but to the Hobgoblin's monster brain Shea already knew of the monster's next move. Shea moved the barrier that she tried to use to stop the Hobgoblin a moment ago back to her and used it as a wall to jump off and evade the Hobgoblin's attack. The Hobgoblin who just missed his attack is now vulnerable, noticing this Shea used her barrier skill to make a ladder into the air and cut off the Hobgoblin's head.
"Whew, I almost died. Now all I have to do is to find... that... riff" Shea was about to collapse when all of a sudden Mary saved her before she fell into the ground.
"Are you sure you want to faint right now? Do you trust me?"
Hearing this Shea answered with the little consciousness that she have left, "As long as it's you." Shea then proceeded to faint in the arms of Mary.
"I see... Then I will have to protect your body with this trust."
Then out of nowhere tons and tons of monsters appeared from the shadows of the forest. With the hobgoblin dead and Shea fainted they had nothing to fear or so they thought, the monsters didn't know that the person protecting the fragile body was a stronger foe, even stronger than the both of them combined.
.
..
...
..
.
Shea slowly opened her eyes and saw a mountain of monster corpses piled up next to her, she just woke up so she was indifferent to the pile of corpses.
"Hmm? Where am I...?" said Shea as she starts to realize.
"Good morning how's the nap?"
"..."
Shea glared at Mary and scanned her body for any changes, as she found out that nothing happened she stood up and went towards the pile of monster corpses.
"... What's up with this? Did you do this?" asked Shea as she stared at Mary suspiciously.
"Nope, this was here before we even came here."
"Are you sure? because there seem to be a lot of freshly burnt corpses piled up."
"Hahaha, I may or may not have added a few new corpses in the mix."
"If you're saying that then I guess it's true."
After the conversation finished, Shea went around and observed the mountain of corpses and found a familiar dead body, it was the Hobgoblin that she fought a moment ago.
"I guess I won." She said to herself.
Shea continued to observe the pile and noticed that most of the corpses are either freshly killed or burnt to a crisp.
"Hey Mary! Do you know what happened here?"
"Nope! I saw this mountain of corpses a while back and decided to take a rest near here." Not only that I still haven't found the monster that injured the Hobgoblin's right hand, I searched the entire forest and suburbs and still found no one.
A long time has passed since Shea fainted back then, and all the monsters that appeared were wiped out by me. I figured that since the Hobgoblin was injured there might have been another monster that was on the same tier as him. So I carried Shea on my back and searched for the monster or its corpse, but all I found was this massive mountain of corpses. Since there was already a pile of corpses, I decided to pile the corpses of the monsters I wiped out together with a pre-existing mountain of corpses.
"If this pile of corpses already existed before we even got here, how did they all die?" asked Shea
"... That's what I want to know as well," said Mary.
"For some reason, this place feels familiar to me," said Shea "Oh, that's right! This is where I woke up a while back!"
Shea has always had a really good memory, however, Shea could barely remember the place because of the mountain of corpses but then she noticed the familiar plain of grass and trees that she passed by.
"So that means that the riff that you went through is in the middle of the corpses?"
"Yeah, I think so, other than that I don't know where else. Though it would be really hard to remove all of this corpse, so let's start now.'
"Ah, there's no need for you to do anything, I know just the spell for this scenario."
Then Mary raised his hand at the pile of corpses and closed his eyes, then his palm glowed, and underneath the pile of corpses, a glowing magic circle appeared. Mary slowly opened his eyes and with a cast, the magic circle activated.
"Soul magic, cremate."
The massive mountain of corpses turned to dust and slowly drifted into the air, then the ground underneath started to reveal itself.
"If you could do this, why didn't you cast this spell on the monsters you killed?" asked Shea
"...I don't really like casting this spell so much, after all, it forces you to turn a dead body into dust without a proper burial."
"Why do you have to worry, they are just monsters."
"Believe it or not there are monsters out there who have a will on their own, I learned that the hard way."
"I see."
As the dust drifts into the air, the ground fully exposed itself to Mary and Shea, however, the riff that they tried to find was not there.
"That's strange, it's not there, maybe it's somewhere else," said Shea
"Could be, but it's highly unlikely, I've already searched the entire forest and found nothing."
"Could we be in the same forest?"
"You said so yourself, that the trees are familiar or something."
"Hmm... then where could it be?"
As they think about where it could be, the dust that was on the ground was blown away by the wind. Mary who was in deep thought couldn't help but follow it with his eyes. As the dust fly into the air, mary noticed something unusual.
"Shea look!" Mary pointed into the sky
"Th-that's the riff!!!"
That's why there was a pile of corpses! That's also the reason why the hobgoblin was injured, it's not because he fought another monster but because he fell out of the sky!
