Emergency spell

A/N: Changed Prime Skill to Primordial Skill. I got lazy to change the entire story so I'll just tell it here.

In the midst of what was left of the destroyed neighborhood, more destruction will soon follow. The already broken houses were being abolished left and right. And, the entire place was flattened due to the enormous being that slithers across them.

A massive reptilian the size of a tall building was fighting worn-out warriors that belonged to a singular group, with a leader leading them. The group consists of medium-tier warriors that fall just below high-level, with the leader being only low-level high tier. The existence of a high tier made the battle somewhat viable, but the monster was still stronger.

As the ranking of tiers goes up, the level gap becomes even higher and it made it harder for warriors to beat someone who is only one lever higher than them. Each and every tier have levels in them. Those levels made it easier to tell who was stronger in their tiers.

The levels are Low, Medium, High, and lastly Ascension.

A person with a medium level that belongs in the medium tier could still fight a high-level demon and still possibly win, just like Shea with her Primordial Skill fighting the orc that belongs in the high level. However, a high-level warrior has a lower possibility of winning when fighting a demon that belongs to the ascension level.

This gap between levels starts to get visible as they reach the High-tier.

"This is bad. Even with a group of medium tiers and me being a low-level High tier, we still can't beat this demonic beast," said Zhang Xiu

What they are fighting is a demonic beast that belongs in the reptile category. A three-headed fiery red snake with wings is scattered throughout its entire long body. This demonic beast belongs in the medium-level high tier.

A medium-level high-tier demon would need at least 3 low-level in the same tier to beat it. That's how scary the level gap is as the tiers go up.

"Kill all, I do!" The reptile screamed.

As tiers go up, a demon also becomes smarter. Some of them even develop the thought to speak which is why this demonic beast can talk. Typically, before they reach a high enough level to speak, they usually follow those that are stronger than them. And, as they become even stronger they develop a way to rebel against the strong.

"Leader asked, you alive? Refuse, I do!"

"Looks like it rebelled huh? This is going to be tough... Everyone! take this fight more seriously. No matter what you do, try to not die! I can't lose any more of all of you!" Zhang Xiu screamed with her heart out.

The scream made the fighters take on this fight carefully and started to take on smarter moves than fighting the demonic beast with all they got. They started doing strategies to fight, with something like bait and switch to traps.

But, with the existence of the demon's wings, it simply floated on some of the traps they did and used the wings to cast wind magic that would make the switch on the bait and switch harder as it could make the warriors lose balance.

'Even with all of this we still can't beat it huh? We need to have higher damage'

Zhang Xiu noticed that with all the things that they are doing, they were missing one more key to finish this demonic beast. Someone who has severe firepower that can massively damage the massive reptile.

As she was thinking about that, a quick and swift fireball would hit the eyes of the reptile. The eyes burst into flames, but sadly they couldn't burn off the hard scales.

Zhang Xiu was surprised by the sudden attack. She did not think that the person missing would actually appear. She looked in the direction of where to fireball came from and saw Mary standing on top of a pillar. She was baffled at first because he went missing before and suddenly appeared. But, that baffled expression turned into anger.

After seeing him it made her angry and agitated that it was clear on her face. However, inside her heart, she felt sadness.

"I know why you're angry okay! Let's talk later, killing this demon is our priority." Mary who noticed her anger quickly said so.

Hearing what Mary said, Xiu quickly rushed toward the reptile and fought it intending to use it as a way to release her anger. With her sword, she flew and beautifully cut off the wings of the demonic beast. The way she looked was like that of a swan dancing in a lake, spreading its wings.

After Mary's fireball attack, she remembered that she can aim for the demonic beast's weakness. With that thought, she rushed towards the wings with the intent to cut off the demonic beast's way of flight.

With its wings gone, the massive reptile smashed to the ground. The debris and dust that was from the destroyed houses started blowing off from the shockwave caused by the reptile's fall.

'Now's the chance'

Noticing the opportunity to bind the reptile to the ground. Mary jumped upwards on top of the massive reptile. And, with the mana gathered in the palm of his hand, he cast a spell.

"Earth Magic: Binding chains!"

Iron-bound chains started to appear below the reptile and launched toward the air. The clouds of dust were blown away and the chains started binding the reptile.

"Everyone, Attack!" Zhang Xiu screamed.

After the signal was heard, everyone except Mary jumped toward the bonded reptile and started attacking its hard scales.

'It looks like the others got this, I don't need to attack anymore. I can't just waste my remaining mana on this bird-snake hybrid, especially since Shea was still captured somewhere'

Attack after attack, various kinds of skills and techniques were used to kill the reptile. In the end, the group reigned supreme as they manage to kill the reptile.

Mary stood there under the dark night looking at the stars. He remained silent as he bask himself in the warmth of his thoughts. From his meeting with Shea to the discovery of the rift, until the invasion of demons, everything is changing in his life. He realized that he can't dwell on the daily life that he adored so much, he needs to do something.

'I need to end this ordeal quickly. The more that I stand there doing nothing, the more that I will lose my life here on earth. My mana is depleting and my chances of recovering them are just at the edge of my touch. But, with all the things that happened, I'm sure that they won't take me with them anymore. What should I do...?'

Being able to use spells with mana is really helpful, but does Mary really have to sacrifice his life here on Earth just to be able to use them? In the end, even if he were able to recover his mana, he would still be living his normal life here on Earth. So does he really need mana?

Mary kept on thinking, about which one is the best choice. Of course, he could choose to be able to use spells by regaining his mana. In return, he would need to help Zhang Xiu and all that was left of her group take back Shea to be able to at least give him the chance to come with them. On the other end, he could just stay here. He'll be able to live his usual normal life, playing games all day or hanging out with Mark and his friends. Of course, he could never use spells again since his mana would have depleted by then

As he overthinks while standing, he sensed a group of people coming. The group encircled him and pointed their weapons at him. The swords were pointing their edge at his neck, clearly threatening him to not move.

Behind the group, Mary sensed a malicious aura. That aura was full of hatred and anger, but at the same time, it had a sense of looming sadness. In the edge of his eyes, he saw the flutter of beautiful grey hair that belonged to the person with the aura. It was Zhang Xiu.

"I trusted you to warn us, but you weren't there at all when we searched for you. In the end, my group suffered unrecoverable losses to the demons that clearly appeared inside your detection area. And you didn't warn us and simply disappeared."

"You know...? My mind is telling me that you assisted the demons to capture us, you got into a room and disappeared then after a moment the demons appeared. Doesn't that make you suspicious?" Zhang Xiu glared at him.

"....."

Under Zhang Xiu's glare, Mary faltered. He looked away from her glare, and simply stand there in silence. He had no choice but to look down and be guilty of what he's done.

"How do you think should I get Shea back now...?"

Hearing her say that Mary looked at Zhang Xiu's way. He noticed a tear drop down from her right eye. He could feel the self loathe that she had for herself for trusting someone like Mary. Using every courage he had, he let the word that was stuck in his throat out.

"..... Im sorry"

Zhang Xiu started to get angry.

"What do you think that sorry will get you?!?! Nothing!"

"-I know that due to my poor choices, you had to lose your sister once again."

Mary answered, his thoughts started storming in his head. The choices inside his head were shuffling making him think of nothing but say everything.

"I know that you are hurting right now, that you hate yourself for trusting someone like me. I made you angry for not being there to warn you and tell you about the demons that invaded. You had to see people from your group fight and die within the arms of demons. I am truly sorry."

"No matter how much you say sorry, it won't get to anything!"

"-I will help you. I will help you get Shea back. And after you get her back, I'll stay here on Earth while you guys return to your own world."

"What's in it for you?!?! Don't you really want to go to our world?"

"I get nothing. Nothing. Take this as a way for me to apologize for my mistake."

Zhang Xiu stood there baffled. She thought that he would simply apologize and try to make a deal for him to follow her to her world. But she didn't think that he would simply give up and help them instead.

After the moment of her being baffled, her mind started having clarity. She then noticed the destroyed buildings of Mary's world, and all of the dead people that got caught up in their fight with the demons. She remembered that she was also the reason that Demons invaded Earth in the first place.

"... You'll come with us."

"What?!?!"

"You wanted to come with us right? In our world."

"What made you change your mind?!" Mary said confused

"Look around you. All of that destruction was caused by the demons, all that murder too. And we brought those demons here on your world because we were chased. So in the end, we're also at fault here..."

Yes, these destructions were caused by the demons. And because they decided to go to Earth while being chased by demons, they are also at fault. But, there was a secret that Mary hadn't told them.

"I am sorry, There's a secret I haven't told you," Mary said as he slowly raised both of his arms.

"Because you guys were from another world, all of the people that died from your group weren't registered, so they can't be saved."

Slowly light that bounced off the moons light started shining through the destructions. The fallen debris on the ground faded as if they were mist. And the cracks on the walls glew and fixed themselves.

"The detection spell that you discovered wasn't just a detection spell."

Light enveloped the area, it started forming the silhouette of the once-destroyed houses of the people that lived in the area. Then as the light slowly started disappearing the destruction left behind was gone and all that was left was what they thought were broken houses all fixed.

""What just happened..."" All of the people in the group exclaimed

"I never would have thought I would use this emergency spell but I guess that's that. Oh and, all of the people that died are alive are well their just sleeping since it's night right now." Mary explained and accidentally locked with the eyes of Zhang Xiu.

She was shocked, bewildered, astonished, and blown away. She then slowly looked at the staring eyes of Mary.

Seeing her all shocked like that, made Mary grin.

"Come on, let's go rescue Shea. Oh and forget the deal, I'll get nothing still~"
