* DOVE *
Crap!
I quickly steady the vase that twirled around the the table's edges dangerously, and put a hand over my frantically beating heart, trying very hard to keep the tears at bay.
What happened? I'll tell you my sad story over the moans of my boyfriend and his partner that are getting louder by the second, coming from his bedroom. Yup. You guessed right. My boyfriend, Golden boy of Callington, easy on the eyes and a total flirt, has cheated on me. leaving me heartbroken. Not that he knows that I know.
I sigh deeply... But why do I feel a tinge of relief in there? Like now I've got an excuse to break things off with him. I felt so suffocated before... It's like I'm free now... But then again, no matter how bad a relationship is, nobody wants to get cheated on. I mean, that's just low. Why couldn't he just tell me that he was done using my body and me and just didn't love me anymore? He had to go frolicking around with others.. God knows how many more he's left behind.
I walk out of his house and back to my house where my best friend Abigail is waiting for me.
"What happened to you?" Cole called out to me while I took off my coat and hung it aside. He was sitting cross legged in front of the television with popcorn in his hand and switching through the channels.
"Didn't you go to see Derek? How is he?" Abigail asked me, stepping out of her room in her pajamas. Today was Saturday and we were currently enjoying our day off from college and our part time job at the library."He's..." I stopped short when I realized I didn't know how to break the news to them. " He's um... currently quite invested in another... person..."
Really? That the best you could come up with?
"Okaayyyy.... What happened really? Everything alright?" Abigail came closer to me and inspected me up and down.
I sighed loudly.
"He was doing... it... with another woman... I walked in on them but he didn't see me so I came out of there. I think I recognized her... Angela from the cheerleaders.." I told them both and their eyes widened so much I thought they'd fall out.
"He whaaat?!" Abigail shrieked, taking my hands and Cole got up from the couch and walked over to me.
"That blonde chick? Really? Cole raised his eyebrows and I just shrugged.
"Oh my god, how are you feeling?" Abigail asked, hugging me tightly. Cole came from behind and joined into the hug.
"It's going to be alright Dovey, you'll find someone better than that asshole. I knew he didn't deserve you." Cole rubbed my back up and down.
"How are you feeling?" Abigail dragged me to the couch and we all sat down.
"Honestly? I don't know... Part of me is relieved I got an excuse to break up with him but part of me is just... hurt.. I mean, how could he do that? We went through so much.. And we were together for two years for god's sake! Did that mean nothing to him?"
As if on cue someone came in and all three of us looked at each other because we knew exactly who it was, and I braced myself for the worst.
"Dove, baby where you at?" Derek walked into the living room and seeing us all he grinned and walked over to me. The same grin that had girls falling for him- the same had me falling for him.
"Why are you here?" I asked him suddenly aware of what he was doing just a while ago and I was disgusted by the fact that he had the audacity to show up here after moaning another woman's name.
Pathetic.
"What do you mean baby? I came to see you." He frowned but then grabbed my hands, pulling me up from my sitting position and kissing me deeply. Usually I would melt and give in when he kissed me but now I just felt like being used for entertainment.
"Let me go you asshole!" I shoved him away from me and Abigail and Cole stood in front of me protectively.
"What's wrong with you Dove?" He asked me confused, looking between the three of us. I chuckled at his response.
"What's wrong with me?" I scoffed at him. "What is wrong with you? Wasn't sleeping with someone just minutes ago enough? Or did you come here because she wasn't good enough?" I said through clenched teeth and for a moment he looked shocked and taken aback before he collected himself and smiled at me.
"What could you possibly mean? I was training a while ago and I came to see you as soon as I was done." I could hear the desperation in his voice like he knew he was caught.
"Stop lying Derek. I saw you. I was there not 15 minutes ago and yet you have the audacity to lie to me after hooking up with someone else." I looked at him dead in the eye and before he could say anything, his phone rang, he glanced at the caller ID and then looked at me.
"We'll talk about this later." He said and was about to turn around when I called to him.
"No need. We're done. Now Get Out." I told him with finality in my voice and he scoffed.
"We are not done and we'll talk later." He headed out the door.
"Yes, we are. Don't you dare show up here again." I told him and slammed the door in his face, and came back, falling on the couch and slouching in my seat.
I sat there for a while before clearing my throat. "Well... That went exceedingly well."
