Chapter 1

"One instant! That's all it takes for one's entire life to change. You would think it would be a little tougher than that...but no! For me, that instance was my death. I got through life just as everyone else did... one day at a time. The 24 years I was alive went by fast, at least the later half did. Ever since I was 18 I've been working for Saber Industries, a company that manufactures military grade equipment. They didn't treat their employees very well but they made up for it with decent pay. Needless to say life kinda sucked."

The year was 2064 on Earth. If you were in Mars it would be 18 as it was fully colonized in 2046. Humans have finally become and interplanetary species. Also with the colonization of Mars the population boomed to 43.27 billion people. The education level of everyone after High School was that which you would need to repair and rebuild outdated technology.

At the Saber Industries Headquarters or SIH for short, a man by the name of Rey Scorborough was exiting the building. He had just finished a day of work and was heading home. He didn't live far from SIH, only about a 15 minute walk. The neighborhood he lived was nice but that has its downsides. His neighborhood was almost constantly being robbed as it was a wealthier place. The cops do nothing about it as they are corrupt and easily bribed.

Rey soon got home and settled in. He sat at his home desk and did some light work. He was currently trying to develop and new technology the would nullify the radioactive reflectivity of nearly all metals. This would hopefully get him somewhere in the world, at least somewhere in the company.

Rey was in the middle of a test when he heard a noise from his room on the 2nd floor. He thought about investigating but due to fear, he stayed put. He couldn't remove his eyes from the only way downstairs, and after a while 3 men came downstairs holding handguns and bags of Rey's belongings.

"So I'm being robbed now. This is inconvenient," thought Rey to himself. He was about to get up and try to leave as fast as he could when one of the men spoke up. "Don't even think about moving anywhere boy, unless you want to end up dead." The man pointed the gun at Rey as he said this and with a sinister grin, motioned his accomplices to restrain Rey. "You to hold him there till I'm done looting, you'll receive a little raise for it."

The man looted the rest of Rey's house rather quickly, it was evident that he had done this many times before and was rather skilled. As he stuffed the last valuable item the Rey owned in his bag, he motioned his men to follow him as they took their leave. "Thanks for cooperating boy, but I cant have you blabbering your mouth now can I?" With those words he pointed the gun at Rey and shot without hesitation. It was a clean shot right through his neck and as Rey was dying the last words he heard were, "Sweet Dreams Boy."

Darkness...that was all that Rey could see. He felt as though he was falling towards something but he didn't know what. This phenomenon went on for 250 years according to Rey's standard of time. It was suddenly stopped when Rey appeared in a blank white room.

"Do you wish to be alive?" A voice of a woman spoke to Rey but alas she was nowhere to be found. Rey responded "Where am I? Who are you? Where are you?"

The voice soon replied "You are in limbo, not alive or dead...technically. As for me, I am of no importance to you, just know that I am the one with your fate in my hands. I am feeling charitable and am quite bored. So I ask again, Do you wish to be Alive?"

Rey didn't quite know white she meant but felt as though he should answer her so he gave a nod and said "Yes I do." Rey felt a pain in his head as his mind was being transferred. This pain was worse than any pain hes ever felt, even more than when he died.

When the pain stopped Rey was able to open his eyes. To his surprise he was alive, but his house looked a bit different from before. Feeling well rested he sat up and stretched. He felt a bit different but couldnt quite put his finger on it. That was until he saw his hands at least. He was a kid again! He guessed he was around 9 or 10 years old and was very confused. 'How did I get in this body? Where is MY body? Where am I?' These thoughts ran through his mind over and over until he was interrupted by his door opening.

Instinctively Rey screamed at the sight of a women entering his room. Even in his last life the only women to enter his room was his mother.

"Calm down sweetie, it's just me, or have you forgotten the face of your own mother already?" The women calling herself Rey's mother chuckled. She was a very beautiful women with sleek jet black hair. Her lips were thin and had a natural pink color to them. Her Grey eyes seemed to reflect the world around her.

Rey's new mother was carrying a small tray of food. There was a small roll of bread next to a bundle of grapes and a slab of meat. She sat the tray on a table which was next to the bed of which Rey found himself sitting on.

"What happened? Where am I?" Rey asked aloud to his mother. He was bewildered by the new things that surrounded him. This world seemed to be less technically proficient than his original. Rey would hold his head as a seeking pain with shoot through his skull. "Why does my head hurt so much?"

Reys' mother grabbed his head and tucked it into her bosom, stroking his head. "You fell down the stairs and hit your head pretty hard. Don't worry, you're at home now and the doctor said that you should be fine." She hugged him a little tighter. "But you can't scare your mother like that okay? You're my only child and it's a mother's duty to make sure you survive in this world."

Rey pushed against his mother, trying to get away from her. "You're hugging me too tight, I can't breathe!" Rey's muffled words were barely heard by his mother but she let him go, apologizing afterwords.

"Well honey, you're father had one of the other maids cook this up for you after he heard what happened." She said whilst she grabbed the plate and placed it on Rey's lap. "Mama has to go back to work now, I'll be back to tuck you in for bed tonight. Love You!" She said as she left the room.

Rey was now alone in the room. Still confused with his current situation, he looked down at the food in his lap. His stomach growled hinting at his hunger. He picked up the bread and bit into it. The bread was soft and warm, some of the best hes ever had in his life. He would then take a bite of the meat on his plate and would sink into the bed as he did so. The meat was perfectly tender and almost melted in his mouth. Rey enjoyed every last bite of his food. Setting the now empty plate aside, he stood up and headed for the door. It's time he got a good look at his surroundings.
