Chapter 11

Rey and his mother Andrea held their hug for quite some time. Long enough for it to get awkward for Amiel who happened to see the whole encounter. "Ahem..." Amiel said trying to get their attention. Rey backed away from the hug and looked over at Amiel. "Excuse me Rey, but who is this women?" Amiel asked. Just as Rey was about to answer, his mother asked a similar question. "Who is this man Jasper? And why did he just call you Rey?"

"Mom, meet Amiel! Amiel meet my mother!" Rey introduced the two to eachother with a smile. "Your mother you say? I didn't know your mother was such a fine lady!" Amiel said. Rey punched him in his gut which surprised Amiel. "You really are a good for nothing man, your daughter is right about you. I know what was going through your head and it was very inappropriate. That's my mother afterall." Reys mother just watched the two interact and couldn't help but smile. "I'm glad you've made a good friend Jasper, but you still haven't told me who he is." She said. "Right sorry mom. Amiel is the one who saved me. I've been traveling with him over the past two years and he's helped train me to fight!"

Rey told his mom how Amiel had killed the griffin that had taken him that day. He told her how Amiel is a 2nd Stage Heaven cultivator and how strong he was. Amiel couldn't help but stand with confidence as he was praised by his apprentice. "I should have you introduce me to everyone with how you make me sound. In reality I'm not as smart and all powerful as he makes me out to be." Amiel said jokingly.

"Jasper, you still have yet to tell my why Mr. Amiel here called you Rey?!" Rey had completely forgot about that part of her question. "Oh...that's my new name mom. I've been going by it ever since the griffin got me. I figured that people would assume me to be dead. I didn't want people to be sent to find me if they heard my name being passed around out there since its dangerous." Rey told her. He told her this since it was a believable story. He didn't tell her that he was used to Rey since it was the name he went by in his past life.

"Oh I see, did you want me to call you by Rey as well?" Reys mother asked. "No its fine mother, although I go by Rey outside, to you I am Jasper." Reys mother went in to hug Rey again. "My little boy is all grown up, I only wish I was there to see it." She was almost in tears again. She pulled away from the hug after she let out some more tears. "So how did you make it back home?" she asked. "Actually I didn't even know this was home when I got here. Amiel had heard of a fighting tournament happening here and thought it would be a good way to track my progress."

"Oh so your here for the tournament then. Will you be staying afterwards?" Reys mother asked hopefully. Rey shot a glance over at Amiel. "Listen kid, you should stay with your mother." Amiel said making Andrea smile. "When I initially found you, I said that I would get you back home." Amiel motioned all around them. "It appears to me that you are home! Now that my promise to you is kept, you no longer have any need to travel with me." Rey nodded. He was sad to see his journey with Amiel come to an end but he was right. Amiel had promised to get Rey home, and he did just that.

"I will stay for the tournament, I'll leave after. Afterall, I have to see my apprentice kick all the other kids ass don't I!" Amiel said trying to cheer Rey up. Rey hugged Amiel and thanked him. Amiel hugged him back although hesitantly. "I'll miss you Amiel." Rey said. "I'll miss you too kid." Amiel replied.

"Jasper, you know you're oldest brother is in this tournament. It's his last year to participate and he's the reigning champion. He's quite strong so be careful." Reys mother told him. "I will mom, don't worry! Oh and for the tournament call me Rey, thats the name I've registered under so if they hear something else I might get disqualified." Rey told his mother. She smiled and nodded, "ok I will!"

Rey and his mother caught up with one another and Rey told her stories of his adventures with Amiel. While they did this Amiel was focused on something else. Amiel had heard rumors about the reigning champ. Jeremy was the guys name and he was a monster. He defeated every opponent he went against with ease. Almost killing every single one. Some of his opponents were smart and conceded before the match but others weren't so lucky. Amiel only hoped that Rey would be able to stand his ground against him.

After a few hours of waiting and talking, the tournament had finally started. Amiel, Rey and his mother all watched the first battles commence from the sidelins. The tournament was held in the very arena where Rey was taken two years ago. Rey had no idea that this was the very arena as it was dark when he was here before. He never saw it during the day.

"Next battle...Jeremy and Clark!" The announcer said. Amiel had told Rey about the rumors he heard. Needless to say, all their attention was on this battle. Two tall boys, both 18 stepped into the arena. It was easy to see who Jeremy was as he bore slight resemblance to Rey. "FIGHT!" The announcer said. With those words the boy opposite Jeremy rushed in. He used a cultivation techniques called 'Swift Foot'. This technique increased the cultivators speed by 50%. This made Clark a blur in everyone's eye. But...as soon as the battle started, it ended. Clark was on the ground unconscious 20 feet out of the ring.

"So that's the strength of Jeremy. Quite formidable, even more impressive than the rumors say." Amiel said. Reys mother agreed with him. "He's been training his body since he was able to walk. He's had the best pick for cultivation techniques. He was also an early bloomer, able to cultivate since the age of 10. He's an prodigy among prodigies, said to be at 1st Stage Sky Realm." Amiels eyes widened, it was unheard of for someone to reach Sky Realm so quickly. He himself reached Human Realm at 15 but wasn't able break into Sky Realm till his early 20's.

"Next battle...Rey and Travis!"
